Oh for sure! My new favorite color is blue.

So Ive been waiting for about a month for my interview date. I emailed them once before and also today. I finally got the date and its in two weeks. I bet I got a cancelation. I already have an acceptance but Uk is a better skool. But the other skool is cheaper. I dont know what to do.:scared:

Need some advice here...

I also received an interview invite today but it's at the end of January! What tha F? When I respond to confirm the date, I was thinking of saying something along the lines of, "If a sooner date opens up, I would gladly make arrangements to attend since I understand my interview is pretty late in the cycle." Would this be benign or really effin' stupid??

I was also thinking of adding in a few updates--new job at hospital (3 wks ago), new volunteering position at free clinic (this week), research conference presentation last week and another next week--but would that stuff be better in a separate email?

Thanks!

I think I would hold off updates until you get to your interview. If they scheduled you in January, its just chance if anything opens up before that. I would say an update right now wouldn't do much.

My date is scheduled for late Jan! Wow that's a long time away but I'm glad to have an interview. I opted for the rural program

Anyone else waiting for a phone call from here today?

Yep, interviewed last Sat and they said we could hear today.

Although, not sure if they just call about acceptances, or WLs and rejections, too... does anyone know?

The process has changed a bit this year, in an attempt to keep more seats open throughout the whole cycle. So a January interview is not a death-sentence. BUT, I do not think it hurts to say you would be willing to interview on short notice if a sooner opportunity opens up. It shows the committee a few things (you are invested in the school, you understand the process, you don't feel like you need a buncha time to put on a fake hat to prepare etc.).

If you have updates, why would you wait? It shows you are till working on your application and still involved. It keeps you in touch with people who will be more important to your application than you know.

If I were you, I would definitely email Kim/Carol (whichever you have been talking to) and include the updates... and just mention that you'd be willing to move up if something came up. Make sure they know how eager you are for this OPPORTUNITY.

If money is a big concern of yours, I would talk to some people already in medical school or perhaps our financial aid officer (or another schools).

I almost want to tell you not to worry about it. But it is probably better to just tell you that you should be more worried about hating your school and dropping out 2 years in and 100k in debt. Choose the one that fits best wih you and how happy the students are there, not just reputation, rank, or whatever else bs you've been fed on SDN or by the schools themselves.

If you get a call, you get in. However, if you don't get a call, you may still have gotten in. Just call Friday morning and they will share the news.

Hey, nice comments. I'm glad we have an insider who is willing to share wisdom. I especially like where you said: "But it is probably better to just tell you that you should be more worried about hating your school and dropping out 2 years in and 100k in debt." So true. Just curious...how do you do the triple quotes?

Use the multi-quote button to the right of the quote button. Just click that on all posts you want to quote and then hit Reply and it will take you to the normal reply screen with all posts quoted.

You're awesome. Thanks for the tips!

(Thanks to mccarty, too.)

So I'm pretty pumped about the information session in January. I got a fancy invitation in the mail today. I'm especially excited about the "reception in honor of the members of the College of Medicine entering class if 2011."

Hey enjoy, you've earned it!

The reality that we will be in medical school next August is starting to sink in for me. I would like to make it up to the information meeting and reception, it'd be nice to meet some of the people I will be spending the next four years with.

Does anyone happen to know when in December they re-review those of us on hold? I'm hoping to hear good news, just not sure when. :scared:.

I was told to call the week of the 12th (12th is Sunday). I think the committee would meet on Thursday the 9th. Just my projection. I hope you get in.

my status is now "interviews to be scheduled!" i know it is really late in the game, but i hope i won't just be interviewing for the alternate list. at this point, i'm sure my interview will be scheduled well into next year unless someone cancels. :/ oh well crossing my fingers! :xf:

Does anyone have any info on how many spots they're looking to fill from the re-review group? I know someone said they put more people this year in the re-review category than usual, but any ideas on numbers? Just starting to get a little nervous...:scared:

No idea.

Hey everyone! I just found out about studentdoctor.net today actually. I've been reading the threads and I think it's great that everyone is helping each other out during this really stressful process.

I was accepted to UofL and UK in October. I'm so excited! I chose to do the Rural program for UK. Is anyone else interviewing for it? I think I know all the people that have been accepted to the rural program for the October interviews.

Good luck to anyone applying/interviewing/waiting!

Hi Snowfall, nice to hear about your acceptances. I am also interested in the rural program, but I'm on hold. If I'm accepted this month, I'll be able to interview for the rural program in January. Yeah, SDN is a great place. Have fun!

Hey snowfall! We must have interviewed together at UK. I have also been accepted to UK and U of L (both rural programs)...having a tough time trying to decide...

Welcome to SDN Snowfall... and welcome to UKCOM. While we probably already met when you were interviewing, I just wanted to say that if you have any questions about anything UKCOM/med school related, feel free to PM me. Congrats and welcome!

Thank you! I'm sure as the time gets closer I will definitely have questions!

I am interviewing for the RPLP this week! Do you know how many people they have already accepted?

No idea...not sure if the admissions office would divulge that info...but good luck! Hope you get accepted!

I was in the first interviews for RPLP. I THINK that 5 people were accepted but thats just from me facebooking the people I interviewed with. After being with each other for 2 days, we became friends 🙂

Well, that's half the number already. They may accept more than 10 though to make room for people who change their minds.

I think the ADCOM is reviewing applicants on hold today. Any thoughts or counter-thoughts? I hope everyone including me gets in!

While I don't know for sure I have a pretty good feeling they are re-reviewing today based on my recent conversation with a faculty member at UKCOM.

Got the call! Accepted......!!!!! Yay! Praise God!

Congrats! I'm still waiting. I'll give them a call tomorrow if I haven't heard anything. Still got my fingers crossed! :xf:

Thank you! I hope you get in...I'll be waiting to hear!

Congrats to all accepted. I wasnt aware there was a committee meeting this past Thursday. Does anyone know when those interviewed on the 7th will be reviewed? Or has anyone who interviewed on the 7th heard anything?

Called on Friday, but Kim wasn't there. The person I talked to said I was still on hold, but didn't say if it was because they hadn't gotten around to rereviewing my file during their last meeting, or if they reviewed it again and placed me on hold again, so I'm just going to wait until I get the letter to find out.

Edit: Finished typing up my Letter of Interest just in case. Just waiting on my fall grades before submitting it.

Oh well! I hope you are not downcast. I think Kim would give you more precise information.

i've had the "interviews to be scheduled" status for over two weeks now but still haven't received any emails with interview info. Should I call and ask? I'm worried that the class will be completely full by the time they even get around to scheduling my interview. :/ that status does mean they are planning to offer me an interview, right? what do you guys think? :worried:

Sure...go ahead and call today to find out. You'll definitely get an interview.

I was in the same boat. I emailed, and heard that Robin Rankin is the person in charge and to get in touch with her, only to hear from her that she would get to me in due time. They have not forgotten you, just be patient. It took me about 4 weeks between when my status changed on the website and when I actually scheduled an interview.
