Etorphine- Mind sharing when marked complete, basic stats?

Just received an II this morning too. Pretty stoked to visit the Boston area. From CA, majored in BME @ a UC, 3.82cGPA/3.93sGPA, MCAT of 31R (11/10/10). My ECs are ~2.5 yrs of biomedical & stem cell research, 3 yrs of EMT during college, 1 yr ER Tech and currently a Trauma Tech for the past few months. Complete 6/29, 30 day email 7/29.

Those with invites, is this reflected in your online status on their website?
Cheers!

Invite! Complete 7/18, 30-day email on 8/17.

Invite! First one of the cycle...even though its early I was getting antsy...
Congrats to everyone else, gotta book some airfare now...

invite! 32/3.77

ive been watching these boards for a while, and cant believe i lasted thru. i have no clue how bu makes these decisions... but im not arguing!!

Just got the 30 day email! complete 7/22. one step closerrrrrrrrr 🙂

Secondary submitted!

I went through and read the posts in this thread, but I am still a little confused. What is this 30-day email? I saw one person post it and it didn't really say anything about an interview. Is the application process for Boston that long until an interview invite? Seems stressful :scared:

Here is the 30-day email: you want to get it, but 2 or more have also been rejected shortly after receiving the 30day email. Thus it is not 100% and you still have to make it past the ~60 day mark as well (seems as though some have heard sooner). Hope this helps and Good Luck! I am nearly ready to submit- working on the optional essay.

It has been 30 days since we sent you a notice indicating that your application was complete and had been referred to our Committee on Admissions for review. While our Committee is accustomed to reviewing a very large volume of applications, this year we have seen an unprecedented number of applications that have been completed early in the cycle. It appears that we will be able to interview only about 10% of our applicants this year, so these reviews are quite challenging. As a result, we are running several weeks behind.

I regret the fact that we have not been able to take action on your application as yet, but I want to assure you that we are moving as quickly as we can and that there will be no penalty for the delay in our processing. Applicants who are selected for interview are invited in chronological order by date of application completion, not by date of review. If our Committee on Admissions concludes that we can invite you for an interview and campus visit, we will get it done!

Please accept our apology for any inconvenience caused by our extended review of your file. We expect to complete our evaluation quite soon, and wish you success with all your applications.

And more info...

Hey All,

So, I am a somewhat lazy man with many more secondaries to do, so it it would be awesome if someone who has been paying attention could sort of confirm or deny the consensus as I understand it so far:

1) People are getting rejected before the 30-day email.

2) Last year, most people who got the 30-day email got an interview offer.

3) Nobody has gotten an interview offer at this school yet this year.

Thanks!

All three conjectures are correct. Also keep in mind that Boston apparently has no regard for the sanctity of Sundays - you're just as likely to get a rejection that hallowed day than any other!

does BU have a student hosting program? It's not mentioned anywhere in the email....

From the 30 day email:

"Applicants who are selected for interview are invited in chronological order by date of application completion, not by date of review."

It seems as if this can't be true as most/all interview invites are from people complete late July.
What happened to all those applicants complete early July/late June? They haven't been rejected or invited.

This waiting is so stressful.

does the 30 day email always come right on time? did anybody get the email a little after 30 days?

How bizarre! I wonder if that's just when they start interviewing.

BU doesn't start interviewing until mid-October FYI. And final decisions are not rolling, there is one batch sent out in Dec and one in March.

This is why I'm a bit confused. Complete 6/23, but I've heard nothing after the 30-day email. I even checked my spam folder to see if an email got lost, but nothing.

Complete 7/30, interview invite 8/26.
3.9 sGPA, 37T.

Very excited. Good luck to everyone.

#fact. I almost s#$9t on my pants this morning on the bus when I read the II email... complete 8/01.

Hmm, not sure how we can explain this... definitely odd 😕 Maybe call admissions and ask what the deal is with "Applicants who are selected for interview are invited in chronological order by date of application completion, not by date of review."

I called Admissions about this.

All is well.

The review time can vary. They said it depends on who is reviewing your file.

I have a friend who doesn't post here who got an invite. Complete 8/15, Invite 8/26.

Invite!!! Congrats to everyone else! Complete 8/13, II 8/26. I am very pleasantly surprised.

By the way, the email says they interview M, W and F, but they only offered me M and W dates. I go to school full-time and work full-time and Fridays are ideal, should I try to reschedule?

Must be, because I just received an invite!

Heeeeeello Boston! :soexcited:

If folks need a host, I can accommodate.

I work about a mile from BU and walk or take the bus there for class in the afternoons.

And if you're interviewing Oct 14th, we can be interview buddies.

Cheers!

just wondering, which of you interview recipients did that optional essay?

huh, weird. it seems like people who were complete after me have been getting interview invites already, which means they've already gotten to those files, but i haven't heard from boston yet at all (about reject, 30 day, or anything)

When were you complete?

yes, but i am re-applicant so I needed to write one... the first time I applied I wrote one and it didn't help haha

FWIW, I was complete mid-July and I wrote one of the optional essays, and I haven't heard anything yet beyond the 30-Day email.

I was complete on 6/24, 30-day email 7/27, just got an interview invite! (8/26) It may not necessarily be in chronological order. Keep those hopes up!

I did not complete the optional essay and received an II before the "19th day"

Does anyone know the data on admitted/interviewed students for instate and oos for BU?

Bummer...I was rejected on Aug 24 confirmed complete on Aug 9th... OOS / non-trad (post-bac grad) / 3.78 sGPA 3.89 cGPA 33S MCAT - oh well...

Good luck to everyone!

Hey guys. So I was hoping for a little advice. I am currently filling out the BUSM secondary and i scored a 26S mcat. I retook the mcat on 8/23 and I MAY have gone up by several points, mostly likely will get a score ~30. Do you think it would be worth it to defer the review of my secondary until my second score comes in? It seems to me that BU is a little more forgiving of lower mcat/gpa, but I can't judge if 26 is too low. And in case anyone is wondering stats: 10B/8V/8P, 3.8 overall, 3.7 BCPM, research, volunteer, good letters, etc.

According to the MSAR, your 8's in VR and PS put you below the 10th percentile. The 10 in BS puts you at the 10th percentile. You GPAs are very near the median. Based on this information, do you think your application is strong enough as it stands today?

so they ask in that one section would you be interested in attending med skool after college, what happens if you are a re-applicant? I was interesting in going after college and applied but obviously this is my second year? Would I have to write this?

last essay otherwise everything else is complete!

2. Are you expecting to go on to medical school directly after college? If no, please explain:

Since you are a re-applicant, you obviously need to answer this question.

What did you do from this time last year until now?

Good Luck!
