Rejected an hour ago. Complete 8/30. 3.9/38

Just go the rejection email too. 3.8/37. I was complete mid september.

Rejected... at least now I know. Complete mid July. Good luck everyone still in the running!

Are these rejections MD only and are they pre or post interview?

I can't decide if it's a good thing I haven't been rejected yet or my email is just on its way and I should prepare for disappointment

It's definitely not a bad thing! Honestly, I'm honored that I haven't been rejected yet lol

Just found this gem when checking my application status:

"Your application is complete. Since we screen each applicant individually, the process may take a few months. Weill Cornell does not have rolling admissions so we ask that you please be patient. Interviews occur from mid-September through early March, and interview invitations are extended throughout that time period. The class is selected in March."

interviewed today and had an absolutely wonderful time! Everyone at Cornell is SO nice and relaxed and the interviews themselves were very conversational and comfortable...no pressure at all. I would love to go here! Can't wait till March 🙂

still in limbo... complete since early August, neither rejected nor invited for an interview!!

I also interviewed 1/12. It was a wonderful place and truly a place I could see myself. All the interviewees were awesome as well. Got my fingers crossed for March.

Does anyone know when Weill Cornell second look weekend is?

What's true on average, may not be true specifically. It's difficult to know why that person got accepted (without confirmation from those who accepted said individual), and to use race or ethnicity as the only explanation is lazy at best.

Here's the story...

I interviewed here in early September, as well as at 3 other schools. So far, I'm waitlisted at 1 (Georgetown) and rejected at another (Albert Einstein).

As much as I would like to get my hopes up for a Cornell acceptance come March-time, I feel like I'm not good enough for this school, even though I had a great interview day and absolutely loved this school.

Can I expect to be rejected in a month, or do I still stand a chance? It seems like most people who have interviewed at Cornell seem to have at least one acceptance under their belt...

Thanks, and good luck to everyone going through this crazy process!

Not a Cornell story, but my student host at Duke told me he had also been waitlisted at Georgetown, and basically every school he'd interviewed at. His first acceptance came in March, to Duke. Moral of the story: if they've chosen to interview you, then you stand a chance!

I'm interviewing here next week...very excited! It's probably going to be my last interview so I'm going out with a bang in NYC. 🙂

Thanks...that's really good to hear!

Just received an II. However, I am most likely going to withdraw. I hope my spot goes to one of my fellow SDNers! Gluck to the rest of y'all waiting.

Awesome! I'm the afternoon session though. I'll be the one in the suit :meanie:

Do you guys know how many get accepted initially, waitlisted, etc...?

Anyone else still in limbo? I've been complete since August. It seems like most applicants have heard back one way or the other at this point...

AAMC guidelines state that they need to give out at least as many acceptances as their class size by March 30th. That's your bottom number. Acc. to USNEWS, they end up accepting 300+ applicants total. That's your top number. So I would ASSUME that they accept twice as many people as their class size which lies in the middle somewhere and WL about the same number. This is all conjecture and I'm sure calling would sort this out 😀

On another note, I'm really excited to hear back from Cornell. I had an amazing time during my interview and would love to go here.

GL to everyone who's still waiting for an II!

I was accepted to Cornell back in December and really did enjoy visiting the campus. I am also considering a couple of other schools in NYC and was wondering what peoples thoughts are on Cornell and what are its advantages relative to lets say Mount Sinai and Columbia

I was just offered an interview this afternoon. So excited to get a shot. They gave 4 available dates so I'm sure theyre still sending some out. Good luck to everyone waiting. Complete mid October, sent an update of publications last week.

I got one as well! Cornell is literally a dream school for me so I'm very excited!

Cornell vs Columbia: Get pampered vs get shot (lols, jk...maybe.)
Cornell Vs Mt. Sinai: Youve got the tri institute baby vs. Mt. Sinai (lhaha)

All schools are great! no matter where you go! Its a win win situation

Does anyone know when Cornell is releasing their decisions? Set date or generally first or second week of March?

Do current students know of anyone who was accepted with a February interview?

Quote from last year's thread:

"I received an invite around mid-February and actually interviewed on the final day of interviews in March. (the calendar has been moved and no longer goes that late) I remember being so tired of interviewing but decided to give it a shot. I loved Cornell and was accepted 4 days later. I would've been totally happy with one of my other acceptances, but I'm really happy I went to Cornell. I know it's expensive, but you're definitely not wasting your time and not interviewing for the waitlist."

I was really happy to read that. Seems like we're on track with this poster's timeline. Hopefully we'll have his outcome too

that's great news, good luck! at least we won't have to wait long to get a decision 🙂

Also, I've been looking at the past data/threads/etc., and I've been wondering: if you interviewed in September (late September), but didn't receive an acceptance in December, does it mean that you're waitlisted or rejected?

It's REALLY hard to find someone who interviewed early and received an acceptance in March...

Relax... they only give out a few decisions in December. I would bet that half of their March acceptances interviewed before December and the other half afterwords.... Stop stalking old SDN posts and calling it your sample of who they accept, that's silly.

Don't worry -- From what I've heard, only 15ish people (don't quote me on that number) get the lucky December acceptance; you still have a good shot!

So one thing that I was wondering about is how much patient contact do students get at Cornell? My understanding is the school sees very affluent patients that do not want a student working on them.

Can any current students comment on this?
