Interview invite!!! February 23rd is the day! Reframing my universe right now...I felt like this was SUCH a reach for me. I thought I knew where I was going to go, and was fine with not having been invited to Hopkins or Yale. I am so thrilled right now!!!

What are Hopkins students like?! I went there for undergrad and the med students also seemed so brilliant and so....together, they intimidated me a bit!

The students and faculty I met there were all so approachable and down to earth. I was actually very surprised by that. Good luck and have fun on your interview day 🙂.

For all who got recent interview invites, CONGRATS!!!!! Could you please share when you were marked complete??????

I submitted in Sept. but didn't receive a complete email until Dec.6...hang in there! Who's staying at Reed Hall the night before? I am 🙂

Damn, I was complete early December before you were...does this mean they passed me? 🙁 Or do they review applications slightly randomly as they come in?

Thank you Episonprodigy for your reply. 🙂 I wish you the best of luck and CONGRATS again on your interview as well as your acceptance.

Bruiner: I am pretty sure (based on experience from other schools) that the process is random in order, so don't be discouraged. We are in the same boat 🙂

Thanks for the reassurance 🙂 The next few days are going to be nerve-wracking as I hope for an invite...

Alternate list... Interviewed December 15. Just got the letter in the mail today.

Wow congradulations on the interviews guys and rock your interviews. Would any of you mind sharing your stats so that the people still waiting could gauge their chances. I don't think I have any chance, but maybe for the other people waiting...

Unfortunately, knowing other folks' stats will not help you gauge much (ii, acceptance, rejection, wait list, etc.)

No news from anybody, especially from the middle of December?

Got the acceptance call today, interviewed on dec 16. Good luck to you all!

Is anyone like me who is still hoping for an interview? 🙁

Congrats! Looks like there is only one from the Friday groups that frequent this forum got accepted. I think all the calls for Dec 2, 9, 16. Must have gone out today. Really love the school, sad sad day for me.

Dark gigler. You will be wildly successful. One day you will teach at johns Hopkins. I wish you my best

Accepted yesterday! I'm still in shock! I absolutely cannot believe it. 😀
I interviewed on December 2nd.

Good luck to everyone still waiting! Remember, it's not over until it's absolutely over! :luck:

Congrats to all the acceptances and interview invites! I hope that those who are accepted seriously consider coming to Hopkins =)
I wanted to say that all the people who I have met here at Hopkins have been amazing. I could not have hoped for a better class. People here are very down to earth and friendly. There is absolutely no competition; the whole class work together with notes, helpful tips, and all kinds of brilliant ways to learn the material better. They are also very talented in many different ways, and together the class forms a very fun, diverse, yet cohesive group. I was scared of rumors of "cut-throat" people at Hopkins, but I have found that this couldn't have been more false. Hopkins have proven to be an amazing experience for me. Everything (eg: great classmates, amazing faculty mentors who regularly meet up with you and take you out to meals on top of teaching you clinical skills, peer advisors from the 2nd year class who regularly meet up with you and give you helpful notes/tips/old exams, beautiful facilities, great colleges system with lots of fun interclass mixing and friendly intercollegiate competitions, curriculum with really great clinical training, P/F system, lectures by world-renowned experts which happen all the time, wealth of ECs that are available, generous support for student activities and research, fun socials and networking events, and many more things that I discovered once I started school here) have made going to med school a really wonderful experience. If any of you have more questions about Hopkins, feel free to ask! (PM me if you don't get a response right away. I don't always check the forum). Good luck to everyone!

Do you mind if I ask you about thank you letters? The MS4s on the admissions committee and Director of admissions said that we did not have to send them, but I still feel like I should. What would you say to do?

I sent them (my interviewers were great), but I really don't think it matters if you do or don't.

ETA: If you don't have your interviewers' contact info, address the thank you notes to them c/o the admissions office.

How do they send out Rejections/Waitlists/Acceptances? Still waiting to hear back after interviewing Dec. 2 and am not sure what to expect. Thanks!

Just to provide a contrast to candav's response(which I think is excellent advice), I did not send in any thank you letters. While I thoroughly enjoyed both of my interviewers as well, I completely forgot to grab their contact information in my excitement. My interviewers certainly deserved thank you letters from me, and I'm going to get in touch with admissions to see if I can get their contact information to share my good news, but it didn't make any difference to my post-interview decision.

I think if you have something genuine to put in a thank you letter, then it could never hurt you to send one in. With or without the letter, though, if you left a positive impression on your interviewers at the interview, their report is going to be glowing regardless of the thank you letter.

But, of course, that's just my two cents! I wish you the best of luck when you hear back! :luck:

Acceptances are generally made by phone call. I say generally because there have been a few instances in this very thread of students that did not receive the phone call, for one reason or another, only to receive an email shortly after. You can look through the thread to see the examples. Rejections and alternate list notifications will come in the mail.

Hope this helps! Good luck! :luck:

Missed the call on Friday and just called back -- was accepted to Hopkins! I can't believe it!!!

Congrats!! That was probably an awesome and/or mind-numbingly frustrating weekend for you.

Thanks for the information and best of luck to everyone still waiting!!!!!

interview invite today, complete early Dec.

Anyone know if theres even any spots left or is this for waitlist spots?

Got my "complete" email last week. (i submitted the secondary 3 months ago.)

Yay?

Thank you letters, in my opinion, can only hurt you, but DO NOT help. I agree, if you simply want to thank someone for the interview experience that's fine, but it will not and should not affect your interviewers opinion of you and your application.

Sending an email or letter telling them how much you love the school, and that you want to be there, and that it is now at the top of your list will not have any affect on the interviewer.

And I say it can only hurt, because it can be pretty awful if your interviewer's name was John, and you send him an email saying... thank you TOM for the wonderful interview... believe me, it happens!

Hey guys, stupid question: in the invitation email, there is a link alongside a sentence that says something like "important interview info: print out and save for later use." If you click on it, it just takes you to a login page. My login info for my secondary didn't work, and of course I was unable to search for myself in the directory like it tells you to, because I'm not a student. What are you supposed to do? Thanks.

Contact the admissions office. The file is missing even if I login (current Hopkins undergrad); it looks like it was accidentally moved or deleted since it worked several months ago.

LOL good, I assumed I was the problem. For obvious reasons, I don't really want to ask the admissions office dumb questions. Calling now!

Yep, the file was missing when I interviewed back in October...I guess they never got around to fixing it? I just emailed Beverly and she sent it as a PDF.

Does anyone have an idea when the committee will meet to review Jan. 12 interviewees? I think I remember hearing 3 weeks (from the 12th) at my interview, which is right now. However, since early December interviewees are just hearing decisions, it seems like 3 weeks might be pushing it.

Has anyone heard when the second look weekend will be (or when it took place in previous years)? Thanks!
