So the missed call ended up being an acceptance....really nice that Dean Grabowski wanted to tell me on the phone first before sending the e-mail. Still in disbelief!

I am so happy for you!

I really liked getting the phone call rather than just an email. It's just one more thing I love about Oakland!!!

Complete – The complete button allows you to indicate when each section of the application is complete. Completed pages will be highlighted with a green checkmark. You can make changes to any “complete” section prior to submitting the supplemental application.

Next - The next button will move you to the next section of the supplemental application.

Read and agree to the technical standards.

Dear OUWB,

I thought we had something really special. I thought we were going to make it. I saw us 3, 4 years down the line, still going strong, me graduating, maybe a couple of loans running around in the back yard. But I guess all of that wasn't meant to be. I'm moving back in with my mom - I wish you the best.

I interviewed on the same day but I wouldn't lose hope; I think because they can't overfill their seats like some schools they're going to be really careful with how many acceptances they're giving out. As long as you don't get that rejection e-mail, you're definitely still in the running.

Thanks! I know it's early but I'm wondering if they're going to do a second look event at some point.
 
I recall them mentioning a second-look event when I interviewed here last week.

Also, if you didn't receive an acceptance yet, I recall them saying that your file if re-reviewed every month post-interview.

I know am a bit late but if i turn in my secondary tommorrow will i be at a disadvantage. as it is already october?

Sort of because since it is not exactly "early" in the season adcoms have plenty of applications to sift through. This means that you will be competing with more people than you would have been competing with in August for interviews. That is just my response to your question.......BUT as of 10/10 they have scheduled 264/420 interviews. So IMO you should apply... disadvantage or not....they still have plenty of interview spots left.
 
Cancelled the interview and withdrew my application. Someone please take my spot. 🙂
 
1. It's never too late to submit a secondary application! [Even on the day of the deadline...]

2. There is a second look day. More information will be sent out via Admissions about it later on.
 
Interview Invite!!!! Unbelievably excited!! Especially since I am OOS!
 
I love this school and I haven't even been on the campus yet! Can't wait for the interview. I wonder how many OOS interviewees were accepted/rejected this year or last year.i have been searching through this thread but haven't seen a definitive answer.
 
Congrats to everyone who got in! The best part of getting in is, above all else, the idea of not attending medical school is behind you, and you can relax for the first time in months and months.
 
Well, Oakland University as a whole is a public institution, but the medical school itself isn't so there is no bias based on state. So yay to all of us OOS (like myself) for Admissions, but unfortunately for those Michigan residents, no discount on the tuition.
 
Is it better to fly into Detroit Metro Airport or Bishop International Airport?

I saw that taxi will cost ~$60/way. I also saw a car is $80/day. Would the taxi cost significantly more than $60/way? I don't drive frequently and I don't want to get lost in the middle of nowhere in an unfamiliar state.

I guess hotel choice would depend on whether I have my own car or not... but any recommendations?
 
I still haven't heard anything back from this school even though I submitted my secondary on August 8th. What could be the issue? Do they really take this long to review?
 
I think unless you have a stellar stats, you might be throwing your money away.... if you have an excellent stat, you should apply soon!
 
withdrew. received interview a few months back, but hadn't attended. good luck everyone! i've heard great things but just don't see myself in MI

Wouldn't worry for now. When I interviewed, they told me that there is a lengthy screening process. I believe they said my application was reviewed by 12 different people, so just sit tight.

I have been complete/in review at some schools since the end of July. I am really hoping that they are not silent rejections but only time will tell :xf:

This was my first interview, so I went with my dad and we flew into Detroit Metro and rented a car, so I can't really help you out on that front...

But I did stay at the Hyatt Place in Auburn Hills- was real close to campus (5 min away) and I really enjoyed my stay there. Very comfortable beds...very quiet...good amenities! Decent price too I believe...

Thank bud! I have kept up with this thread since I applied in late August and your posts have got me so excited for this school. I really hope I get accepted it would be a dream come true. Hopefully, ill get to meet Codeblu in person one August! 🙂

That's actually an interesting question -- I never knew that this Bishop International Airport existed! So while Bishop may be easier to get to OUWB from [I-75 all the way], Flint is one of the most dangerous cities in the nation and Bishop is probably a tiny airport. While Detroit Metro has the "D" in its name... it's not in downtown or anything and it's a huge airport so I always feel safe there. Slightly more difficult to get to OUWB from Detroit though [that's my opinion].

I personally would suggest driving with a GPS just because you'll have to get used to driving if you end up at OUWB. Not that everyone commutes like me, but when we have to go to Beaumont Royal Oak or Troy [which is at least once a week], it takes at least 20 minutes, so you should get comfortable with the idea of driving.

I would go with whatever is cheaper to be honest. The drive from Flint is A LOT easier tho - almost impossible to get lost. Significantly less traffic that way as well. You don't need to worry much about safety - the airport isn't actually in the bad area of Flint and its located right next to the freeway. Also, as the above poster said, driving there will probably be easier - bring a GPS!

I interviewed the same day! I'm hoping for some good news. I can't imagine them calling me over the weekend. So it looks like I'm just going to have to tough it up until Monday. 🙁

what were your stats keeper? just curious what pepes are getting accepted with.. I interviewed on 10/6 so my day sounds like it COULD be coming
 
The interview tracker jumped from 264 to 301 invites out of 420 yesterday (10/21/2011). So either people have just received or are about to receive some interview invites.

I hope I get one of them, but :luck: to everyone! 🙂
 
Boo - looks like I got passed over - interviewed 9/20 ish... boo.
