It's a chill interview day, so no worries there. Wear comfortable shoes (I'm assuming you're female) as there's quite a bit of walking. You tour both the school and the hospital.
 
I've heard some really concerning rumors from several reputable sources about oakland running into some bad financial problems that could cause the school to close in the upcoming years if they are not resolved...anyone else heard something similar?

I haven't heard anything about financial issues but it is something I worry about. I hope it's not true since I really want to go to Oakland. :scared:

A family just donated a mill to the school. Also, Beaumont has stabilized financially after some woes.

What kinds of sources?

It doesn't really come off as kosher when someone posts such strong statements without evidence. 😱
 
The statements were made by faculty members of of other medical schools. But I asked the OUWB dean about it today at the interview and he basically said it was just a nasty rumor. He also said the the president of OU has promised that even if the state cuts ou's funding (which could happen since it is public), OUWB will not lose funding.

Have you written them an update letter? At least you haven't been rejected yet!

OU as a University is public, OUWB is private all the way.
 
Right, but that means if Beaumont has financial problems, OUWB has problems. But the OU president is saying even if that happens, he will make sure that OUWB has the funding it needs

The problem is what happens when Beaumont hits financial problems (which it looks like it will again with this whole BCBS) and OU hits financial problems which could happen when funding is cut... I'm sure they have plans and tactics to avoid these things; just definitely not the news you want as a brand new medical school.
 
Placed on pre-interview hold. Seems kind of late in the cycle for that since Oakland only has 50 interviews left to hand out, but I suppose it isn't a rejection yet. Still some hope.
 
Does anyone have any idea what is going on with applicants that interviewed several months ago but have yet to here anything back ? Are we on an unofficial waitlist ? I interviewed in late September and this waiting is starting to drive me nuts :scared:

I thought if ur passed over for an initial acceptance then you will have to wait for awhile.. Or have there been ppl who interviewed earlier and were passed initially and then accepted?
 
Accepted! I am going to be a doctor...unreal. Interviewed 11/11/2011.

I interviewed with you!! And I'm pretty sure that I know who you are. :laugh: So this means they already started reviewing 11/22 applicants....sadly, no news for me yet

that's pre-interview right? and they sent you an email saying you were rejected or did you check your status page? good luck with other schools!
 
Looks like they were really busy today right before they go for holiday break; I got an "admitted student update" today.
 
yup that email got my hopes up then cut the rug out from underneath me. lol oh well at least im still in the running
 
The email scared me, I thought it was a rejection since post interview acceptees are notified by phone. Btw does oakland reject post interview?

I got an email (put on hold very early in the season) saying that they are going through applications and will re-review applications that are on hold at that time to extend any remaining interview invites. It also said to withdraw if you no longer wish to be considered, so I did so. Good luck everyone!

I havent had a post interview decision yet so mine said that although I have not heard back, I am still under consideration and that more decisuons should go out in th e coming months since they are winding down their interview season at the end of feb.

But werent you accepted? If so then those students prob got just a holiday greeting or something lol.
 
I think the take-home message all the emails was just to reassure us that there is a 0% chance we will hear anything at all now until at least Jan 3 to ease holiday worrying.

Nope, interviewed December 2nd. Just patiently waiting and hoping I get accepted to this awesome school!!

Yeah they do but they send snail mail rejections post interview and they reject only a handful of people, from what the dean said on interview day (they had only rejected like 3 or 4 people at that point if my memory serves me correctly). They only reject you at this point if it's very obvious to them that you wouldn't be a good fit at OUWB
 
This thread has been quiet for awhile. Does anyone know what is the final date that they will hand out their last interview invites?

I believe the last interview day is February 24, so theoretically sometime prior to that [keep in mind that some people do decide not to interview, and you could get their spot].
 
Doesn't the committee meet this week? Anyone hear anything this week?
