Lots of competitive applicants getting rejected. I was rejected as well last night-- keep your heads up! You all have the making for success somewhere

Wow. I have no chance
I wouldn't lose hope completely. I was complete 7/25, 3.64/33R and still have not yet been rejected. Got an email (above) that said I was still in the running but they were backed up. Looks like they're really considering ECs, LORs, and PIs given that they're rejecting people with such stellar stats.

Orrrr they're just rejecting people at random...😕

 First rejection from BU today ... farewell thread... was complete 8/1 +pity+

Rejected... 4.0/37, Completed 7/31. Maybe they hate Californians? jk.

I checked my email and it was like

Oh well. Hope you treat your other 11,000 applicants better than me, dear Boston! Siiiigh. :'( We could've had it all....

LOL to picture above. Rejected this morning complete 8/3

damn, they're rejecting on weekends?:scared:

Probably because they really want to drive home the fact that we're completely unworthy and unlovable medical school applicants who should probably just cut our losses and start selling Biology textbooks for a living.

People from sunny places in general. (I'm from Florida)

Completed 8/6/2012, rejected today. 4.0/39S

Must say, though, I did actually like their rejection letter. It was about as encouraging as a rejection letter can possibly be, while still maintaining its essential quality of rejection.

Rejected as well, first one. It stings 🙁 Goodluck to the rest!

seems like spots are filling in...i saw people in this thread earlier on with worse stats getting ii's...

It seems like they rejected a lot of high stat people. I know BU is very holistic in their approach and aren't really stat ****** like Wash U, etc.

Rejected as of last night. I got an email at 3 in the morning. Wth?

Good luck to everyone else!

Rejected
3.98/38Q IS, from ivy...what is going on...

I have really similar stats and I just got my rejection today too. 3.98/42R from ivy and rejected. I am also in-state... 🙁

Could those of you who were rejected share when you were complete?

Wait, nevermind, doesnt matter, just got my rejection too! 3.9/36 and I was complete 8/7. Sunday funday time!

has anyone gotten II this weekend?? Or they're just rejecting?

Any 10/12 interviewees?

Anyone else check with hotels about discounts? I've heard about $40-60 for the Roundhouse, but nothing else...

Also, anyone want to do a four-way split of a room at the Ritz for the entire weekend?

Sorry, by last night I meant Saturday at 3 am. Still pretty inconsiderate though...

I wouldn't call that inconsiderate...not like they woke you up from your sleep or anything.

Crazy such high stats being rejected pre interview....they must be looking for a pretty specific set of experiences. Still haven't heard anything, submitted 8-6, and have much lower stats than a lot of you that were rejected...

Well I think this school has a hard time actually matriculating people with such high stats since they will inevitably be accepted and given scholarships at other higher ranking schools, so BU tends to take more lower stat people with interesting stories and people who have fought through adversity.

u suggesting kinda like a Tufts syndrome type situation?

Never heard of that, but I guess so. Those stats are what make the top 10% at most schools, and with all the competition in the NorthEast and elsewhere, BU will have a hard time actually matriculating those applicants when there are other schools with more prestige that can offer more money.

Wish this would explain why I got rejected...guess Boston was never meant to be!

A little late but rejected Friday night- wish they would have at least waited until the weekend was over!

when did you complete? Just wondering how long it takes for them to start rejecting...around 2-3 weeks?

Just FYI for those counting on the student hosting. I spoke to the admissions office, and they indicated that students are generally only able to host one night, typically the night before the interview.

Unfortunately for me, I just booked my flight to leave two days after the interview to spend a Saturday in Boston... Looks like it'll be two hotel nights for me, so if anyone interviewing on 10/12 wants to hang out in Boston Friday or Saturday, I'll be around!

Exactly. Historically it seems like BU doesn't bother dealing with applicants who are higher or lower than a certain range that they look for, mostly to look out for their own stats. So to all of you high stats people who got rejected, take this as a good sign unless BU really was your first choice. Good luck to those of you who have received an II.

I've been complete since 7/13 but I know they started rejecting other people that were complete at the same time earlier than me. Makes me feel even worse- they must have looked at my app and still said no!
