I Interviewed here this week and must say it is an amazing place! Piece of advice for those flying out here: keep in mind there is a lot of traffic to the airport and the lines are insane! (at least it was the case with me).

I'm so excited for my interview. First time to Boston for me.

Piece of advice - if you have to be somewhere at any certain time, avoid the green line at all costs! That includes the airport for your return flight. Take even a cab or a bus instead, or take any other subway line.

I was complete August 6th and I haven't heard anything.

I was complete a week or two before you and no news either...I thought BU was suppose to be pretty decisive about this stuff...

same-ish here...but no news is good news, means they're at least on the fence about whether or not to interview you. Better than a flat out rejection.

+1 This process is taking a long time...But looking from last years thread, we may hear back soon.

What makes you say that? Was there a batch of interview invites/rejections for early applicants this time last year?

Im just looking at applicants who applied early august and heard back early october.

Hi guys,

I am a first year here and really love the school so far (esp. the patient population).

Please feel free to ask me any questions.

We are in the middle of preping for (another) biochem exam, so please give me some time to reply.

Cheers, and best of luck!

How do you have enough experience as an M1 to judge the patient population? 😕

Does everyone get this diversity email or is it only for URMs?

okay thank god i was worried thinking about how disappointed they will be when they meet me...

Rejected 35 MCAT, 3.65 GPA. Complete 9/19. Was hoping for some in-state love or something, but oh well. Best of luck to you guys.

We live among our patient population, so even walking to campus in the morning gives us exposure to the people that we will eventually be treating. You can spend 10 minutes standing outside the hospital and you'll see people of all different ethnic backgrounds, hear all sorts of languages, etc. We have Intro to Clinical Medicine every week starting in early September, where we go into the hospital and interview patients. On top of that, there are various extracurriculars - e.g. Outreach Van Project and Homeless Health Immersion - that give us even more of a chance to get to know our patient population better and on a more personal level.

I'm also an MS1 here at BU and would be glad to answer any questions. And yes, it's true, BUSM is amazing 🙂

Not too many interviews per say, but I have become confident enough in a couple of acceptances closer to home that I would take in a heart beat over BU. Not to mention BU has the highest tuition of all the schools I applied to.

I wish I was this confident

The same reason I am a little concerned about attending here if I'm accepted... But, like everyone else, I'll go wherever they accept me (given that I only applied to schools I would attend)!

Good luck elsewhere!

3.64 gpa, 35q mcat, late august submission. rejected over email.

Rejected

3.8, 36 solid app I thought and MA resident. Rejected by email. I don't get this school at all.

edit: complete in September. Maybe a late completion is a death sentence for this school? Oh well

when were you marked complete?

Rejected yesterday by email, 3.7 cgpa, 3.6 sgpa, 33Q, OOS, complete 9/16. It's not a school I had my heart set on and I know they reject a lot of people, but as my first rejection it stings 🙁 Good luck to you all!

3.7, 36 OOS rejected this morning. Complete 7/29 and 30-day email received 8/30 FYI.

Withdrew pre-interview for MD/PhD.

Good luck guys! Tried to do it early enough to get another spot out there!

Why did you withdraw?

I'll dig a little deeper later, but...

Anyone know how long interview day goes?

Just got a rejected (via email)... 1st rejection back. 2 ii's so far, but BU was right at the top of my list. Just a little bit crushed right now. 39Q, 3.65 cGPA, good ECs, OOS...
Oh well. 🙁

As an EMT who trained in Boston, I agree with stay gold. BUMC gets most of their patients from the more "inner-city" areas of Boston just based on their location in the city - Dorchester, Roxbury etc. This is in contrast to MGH, BWH and Tufts (Harvard and Tufts) who get a lot more "sick" medical and onc transfers from the rest of massachusetts comprising a lot of their patient population, and they also serve areas of the city such as Fenway and Brookline that are more "upper-class" and have a lot of college students as well. BUMC also receives most of the violent crime that happens in Boston, based on location and also based on their reputation in Trauma. Food for thought. Of course all hospitals are going to get a "diverse" patient population, but BUMC moreso in Boston.

Rejected today, 35 3.7, complete around mid September. I live with my family about 15 mins from this school, I thought I would get an II from at least being 'in the area' 🙄 I'm even from one of the 'inner city' (lol) neighborhoods the guy listed above, I thought that would get me some kind of special interest from this school.

I didn't answer the last optional essay though, kinda regretting it now.

Heading to the Boston Symphony on Saturday... Gotta make the best use of my time out in Boston!

I got a handful of interview invites for fully funded MSTP's. BU doesn't give a stipend or health insurance during med school for MD/PhD, and the city has a fairly high cost of living. Not worth going in debt for MD/PhD as my salary likely wont be as high as MD-only, especially if I focus more on research.

I was thinking of holding onto the interview, but I wanted other people to get a chance.

Sounds legit. Also, very kind of you. Best of luck elsewhere!

I think mine went from about 7:30 am to around 2:30 pm. It's a pretty full day, too--not much sitting around doing nothing.
