How far in advance should you contact the student hosts before an interview visit?

Does anyone know rough cut-offs income-wise with regards to need-based aid awards and how substantial these might be? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated......Thanks!
I am complete since end of September and still waiting
Anybody who was complete in Oct or Nov received II/Rejection ? How many didn't ? 😴
Got a "Contact Information Verification" email, anyone else?
same
+5 almost passed out my seat until i realized it was just verifying my email 😳
Does anyone remember the earliest day we find out about acceptances in January?![]()
It should be early January. If you're accepted, you will either get a phone call from your interviewer, an e-mail from your interviewer, or just a snail-mail acceptance. Those who were not accepted will get an e-mail telling them that they are either deferred to March decision or rejected.
I heard that only ~100 students or so are actually accepted in January and everyone else gets deferred or rejected.... is this true?
thanks!
Less than that. They accept about half the total amount. I believe only ~120 are accepted from outside BU and the rest are from the various BU programs (like the medical masters) to round out a class of about 180.

Dean said 143 or so from outside the various programs. So what we are applying for. Of course they will have to accept about 200 to get that based on their yield. It will most likely be around 100 for each round.
I honestly don't understand why people try to make speculations like this, unless you are intentionally trying to psyche people out. First of all, they fill most of the class in the second round, so it almost certainly isn't "100 for each round." Secondly, according US news, which gets numbers from the medical school itself, BU accepts more than 500 people. When those 500 get accepted, though, is something you could only know if you were on the committee!
According to one of the members of the admissions committee, BU accepts about 400 not 500. Not that it matters anyway. Will still be tough getting an acceptance.

So common sense would clearly dictate that if you are thanking your interviewer, you email it to them as opposed to uploading it. In fact, there was even a thread about whether or not to include an AMCAS ID in a thank you letter and the overwhelming response was that it was inappropriate as it appeared disingenuous.
Anyhow, I was browsing the Boston University application site so I could upload my grades. I looked at the "Upload Or View Documents" section so that I could upload my grades for Fall. I noticed that in the "type of document" field, there was "Thank You Letter" next to LOI, Transcript, Update, Interview Follow-Up, etc.
It seemed very odd that anyone would do this. I could imagine an overly aggressive pre-med thinking "I must let BU know I want to thank the interviewer." but never a medical school thinking "lets see how they thank the interviewer." Yes, it is politeness but I feel like it undermines the point of a thank you letter, a selfless expression of gratitude.
In fact, in the case that I do get an interview I feel reluctant to consider sending my thank you letter through the upload document device as I feel like it undermines the entire purpose of the letter.
Anyways, stupid rambling but seeing as this is an unusual approach for a medical school to take (most seem to try to discourage students from excessive contact) I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this.

So we could hear as early as next week? 😱
I'd like to know this as well. I know it's in early January and it was around 1/4 last year, but anyone know of an exact date for this year?
I don't think anyone except members of the admissions committee could tell you the exact date. It also depends on the way you hear about your acceptance. Some interviewers call their interviewees to tell them about the acceptance (these people tend to find out the first); some e-mail. And some are just accepted via snail mail and so find out the last. But the calls could be as early as this week or start sometime next week (purely contemplation by me, don't have any specific knowledge of this).
I called the admissions office pre-vacation. I'm not sure if they will absolutely call you, but I was told that the admissions office will definitely send both an e-mail and a letter-mail packet with the good news. The first wave of acceptances/wait-list/rejections come out this week. Good luck everyone!
I called today to make sure I had the right information. It's not til the third week. Bummer.

Current first year at BU, If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Somewhat relevant part of an Email from the Dean today:
"Our Deans Advisory board and alumni have joined with the School to fund the construction of student housing as a strategy to control the substantial costs of living in Boston. In addition to decreasing student debt, unanticipated consequences of the residence created opportunities for current and future students. Our yield increased substantially in our first year class. More accepted students chose to come to BUSM."
Our class size is actually larger than normal by a few students since the yield was so much higher this year.
It might be different this year, but I think I received my acceptance on January 4th or 5th last year. Unless it has been changed, notifications should be during the first week.
Good luck to all of those applying!
Could today be the day?

They have a parking lot that you can pay for. I would advise against street parking near the school because its all metered.
It wasn't for me 🙁
