I wouldn't worry. Online they say "mid-January" for the earliest acceptance date. I'm just expecting something by the end of the month (especially since this is a busier cycle).

Hope so. Dean Witzburg said they hoped to have decisions out by the 12th.

Our interviews were open-file, right? My interviewer brought my file out, but didn't open it and we didn't discuss anything from it. Just curious if anyone else had the same experience.

Yes, interviews are open-file.

Actually I had the same experience. PM me who your interviewer was if you'd like.

Did you have a female interviewer?

Also, I see you got a SLU interview, but not Wake. I'm opposite, and very sad about it 🙁

Haha sorry man...I was excited to check out Wake, but I don't think its gonna happen. Yes I had a female interviewer.

Just for people's interest, it says on us news that the first day for acceptances this year is Jan 7th... Fingers crossed!

i know i wont be going here (accepted at better school), but i just wanna know if i get in because of the degree of competition at this school...btw, i loved BUSM when i interviewed.

:/ kinda lame for all of the people who want to go here, who may make other plans if they get put on a waitlist.

Very lame and incredibly inconsiderate of others. As soon as I got accepted to a school I loved I withdrew from every school (pre and post interview) that I wouldn't have chosen over the one where I was accepted. It's just courteous.

+1 I understand not withdrawing if you are interested in what kind of financial aid you'll get, but s/he seems pretty sure that s/he's not going to BU.

Exactly! That's been my motto the entire cycle. I withdrew from 5 of the 19 I applied to pre/post-interview, as well as some post-acceptance because I know I already sealed the deal with a school I love and I know others are hoping for those prized spots. This cycle isn't about "curiosity" or "racking up acceptances," it's about getting into a med school you love and letting your future peers and colleagues do the same. For the good of 2013 premeds, @Nandrolone now's a good time to withdraw from BUSM if you're already accepted to "a better school"

unrelatedly, hi everyone 🙂 never posted here, but my friend told me january 12 is round 1 decisions and late march is round 2 in case there's any confusion, good luck! :luck:

edit- by january 12 (sorry GreyEarl!)

Jan. 12 is a Saturday. I hope it's earlier than that!

Your whim and curiosity may very well and will very likely take an acceptance spot away from someone who desperately needs it.
I will immediately withdraw from all schools that I will not consider over any schools that I am accepted to. It's just common courtesy, like opening the door for people, or covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Except this time someone else's future depends on it.

May you alway step on the pointiest and most hurtful legos when you're half awake and least expecting it.

not really... ill withdraw as soon as I know my decision..after all, i did spend like 800 bucks on this school alone (air tickets, hotel and app fees)....so i dont think it's inconsiderate at all..

also...do not want to start a flame war, since i know some are in panic mode.

Well you might take 1 person out of panic mode if you withdraw from a school that you will not attend. They only send out decisions twice at BU, so 1 spot is kind of a big deal :-/. You're not the only one who spent money this cycle.

true...but im not the dick who holds onto acceptances until may 15th...as soon as i know...im out freeing my spot for someone qualified on the waitlist.

Whatever helps you sleep at night 🙄. Whatever, I won't say anything further on the issue.

I'm with Nandrolone.

After spending the money on the application, traveling to the interview, etc. you should be able to find out if you got in.

I am waiting to go back to hear back from BU as well and probably won't attend unless i get a full scholarship.

It's nice of you guys to withdraw, but It's hardly inconsiderate not too, especially when we don't hear back about financial aid until way later.

Clearly no one should withdraw from a program that they would attend given the right amount of financial aid. But because you spent money to apply? What are you gaining from that, bragging rights? Doesn't really apply if you already got into a better school. So all it really is personal satisfaction, so ya, that's selfish considering there are other people with no acceptances who will have to put off their plans until May so you could have your moment of gratification.

Maybe it's just because I think unless you already have a full scholarship somewhere, you shouldn't withdraw because a full ride at any school should always be considered.

Maybe you guys already got into great schools, but what happens if its a private school and you withdraw from every other school and end up getting no scholarship and grants? For me, i think i have every right to wait it out and see the financial aid packages from every school i got accepted at.

Hell, even a school that you wouldn't attend, but could use the acceptance to get "leverage" for more financial aid at your top choice is all the reason to hang on the an acceptance.

Attending medical school is a huge (probably the biggest many of us have made up until this point) financial investment, and many of us don't have the luxury of having parents pay for tuition and have to take out loans.

+1. Any acceptances Nandrolone gets, he earned through hard work. Leave the guy alone and stop being so neurotic. If he gets in and you don't, it's because BU liked him more than you. Get over it.

Thanks! and right now, we are all speculating. Nobody knows for sure who's getting in (unless you work for the admissions office), so fighting about it isn't going to matter in the least.

BU where are you?!?! I'm running on empty. A man can only hit refresh so many times...

I just interviewed here today and Dean Witzburg said the 1st round of acceptances/deferrals (anybody who has interviewed before the new year) would go out Friday - good luck you guys!

I remember someone saying earlier in the thread that acceptances are both snail mail and email, though I'm not sure about the "deferred til March" decisions.

I posted earlier in the thread that this is indeed the case, from what the admissions office told me last week.

Lol, did you go there after your interview? That bar isn't really my style...haha...

I liked the sandwich I got. Dark, quiet, and small = my type of bar.

They have THE BEST sandwiches 👍

Best sandwich I've ever had. It might be a problem if I get accepted and choose to matriculate...

Did anyone get a request for a criminal background check today? This may have been related to a prior acceptance/waitlist but it seemed coincidental that it came around the time of BU's first round of acceptances. Either way, probably shouldn't speculate. Good luck to all!

You can call Certiphi and they will tell you who requested it. I just called yesterday.

SMART! I just called in and it was for schools who had already accepted me...no BU 🙁 did anyone else have BU request a background check?
