I was also placed on hold for the UT track after interviewing in late January.
First, congratulations to all the people who received acceptances!
Second, I've browsed through a bit of this year's thread and last year's thread to gauge what being "on hold" really means. But I'm still not quite sure. Are there actually any people who are rejected post-interview? Or does everybody who wasn't accepted immediately get placed on hold?
Also, based on last year's thread, it seemed as if CWRU was being rather conservative with their acceptances into February. Does anybody know what the status is like for this year? CWRU's my top choice by far, and I'm feeling pretty dejected that I was placed on hold - I felt as if I had a good faculty interview and a good student interview.
I sympathize completely with you. This school is definitely my top choice. My faculty interviewer straight up told me: if you don't mess up this interview, you're getting in. I don't think I messed up it: HOLD 2 weeks later.
I did tons of research about the hold list, and from what I gathered from previous Case Western threads is that a few people may get off the list before May (around February), but most movement happens in May. I never saw anyone get rejected post interview on any thread.
And this isn't a waitlist yet. We actually have to pass a screen later to get onto the waitlist. So basically, more and more waiting...
