Having a 35 MCAT and 3.9 GPA and being in-state doesn't seem to get you an interview here. Your lost Emory

perhaps it was the typos and sense of entitlement that did you in.

anyways, good luck to everyone waiting for a letter this week! let us know when you get one!

You should be counting your blessings instead of acting like you're the best thing since sliced bread. That's an incredibly poor attitude and certainly a quality I would NOT desire nor even deem the slightest bit acceptable in any physician. Hopefully you can improve upon that before patients are forced to communicate with you.

since today's thursday, has anyone gotten anything in the mail yet? usually how long does it take from monday?

it can take a while, up to 5 or 6 business days. and monday was a postal holiday, so they must have been mailed on tuesday.

Well...it's the 22nd...and I'm definitely not in Atlanta lol. Time is up for us sadly (although to be fair it was up 2 weeks ago since Emory invites in advance). Best of luck to all of you!

Anddddd......rejected. Can't say I didn't see it coming (see above) lol.

+1.. emailed (pre-interview rejection)

on a funny note.. does anyone find the name of the director of admissions funny? as in say it fast.....

Yep-- looks like it's official. Just got an email from admissions:

"The Emory University School of Medicine has concluded the review of MD candidates applying for the entering class of 2013. I regret that the Admissions Committee is unable to offer you an interview."

I'm glad at least they let us know, unlike some schools whose seasons are over but I'm still holding onto that last glimmer of hope because I haven't gotten the official word... haha

Got the axe. Glad they rejected sooner than later at this point.

I'm sorry to hear that, guys. Did anyone who interviewed at Emory get rejected just now?

Rejected just now pre-interview. Sent in an update letter yesterday lol...

On a side note, I am happy that I didn't spend time doing that financial aid stuff they requested a couple of day ago lol :meanie:

Sorry for all the rejections 🙁 I hope you all get in somewhere! Good luck!

Did anyone get anything in the mail today? I hate this waiting game.

Bahhh, I'm still waiting. I interviewed on 12/17 so my hope is that I get something this time, even if I didn't on the week of 2/4...

Is the fact that we interviewed and haven't been rejected a good sign? Or will they not reject post-interview until 3/7?

i don't think they reject post-interview until april, which is when they give out alternate statuses

They start sending them out March 31. So that's when we'll all know if we were rejected/ waitlisted. One more round of acceptances to go. I hope 3rd time is the charm. Interviewed 12/21.

As expected, rejected pre-interview this morning. Good luck to the rest of you guys!

Don't give up on this round yet! It doesn't look like anyone has received an acceptance from the 18th? It would make sense for it to be late, because of the federal holiday on Monday and the snow storm that could have slowed things down.

They sent out an email saying interview season is done.

The Emory University School of Medicine has concluded the review of MD candidates applying for the entering class of 2013. I regret that the Admissions Committee is unable to offer you an interview.

This year, over 6,800 candidates applied for our first-year class. While we are pleased with the very high caliber of our applicant pool, the sheer volume of excellent candidates has made the decision process unusually challenging and has prevented us from interviewing all qualified applicants.

Thank you for your interest in Emory and for your patience during the past several months. I wish you the very best for the future.

I'm not sure if anyone who got rejected pre-interview got that, but just thought I'd post it up here.

No one has heard from the 18th yet? That seems odd...

I'm anxiously waiting as well, but Monday was a holiday. I'm guessing the first round will be received on Monday.

I saw a large, white, thick packet in the mail today. I thought it was Emory. It was from my bank. That was both the happiest and saddest moment of my entire life.

It makes me wonder if the new timings are correct. At my interview (in November), they said the final round including waitlist/denials was the 28th of Feb, rather than 18th Feb/4th Mar/31st Mar.

It seems to take a while for their mail to get to students. It took 5 days for my packet to come in and I live 70 miles away (Athens) from Atlanta. President's Day was monday too, which could slow it a little more.

interesting. all of this uncertainty is only adding to the stress :scared:

Oh dear, now I'm extra paranoiddd.

Ugh Emory why don't you email first. That would save us all a bunch of stress. I hope the Feb 28th thing is wrong because that does not bode well for me.

Don't be paranoid, everybody! I interviewed just a couple weeks ago, and they told us that a round of acceptances would be sent out on March 4th, so they are still going by those official dates. So some acceptances/denials/etc. will be coming out in early March

But no one has heard back from the 18th release date and very few reported from the 4th... which is scary!

got my letter today. no postmark. good luck everybody else!

Congratulations!

I've been following your posts, glad to see it worked out for you. Are you matriculating for sure?

congrats! if u don't mind me asking, roughly what date did u interview? I'm wondering whether feb interviews were considered for this round or will largely be lumped into the march 4th decision date...

thanks everyone! i really appreciate it. For those still waiting, I wish you all the best of luck. It has been nice worrying here with you guys. here's all the info I can give you:

II: mid-december
interview date: mid january
First round of acceptances that I was eligible for: Feb. 4th (didn't get in that time)
2nd round: Feb 18th. Got my letter (in the northeast) on Feb. 25th.

my letter was dated Feb. 15th. It was sent first class mail, so that explains the long wait in many cases. It was probably mailed on Feb 19th.

I will absolutely be attending, unless I get a very large scholarship elsewhere.

thanks again and good luck!
