I submitted 8/27 (with all LOR received) and received the complete 10/1.

Well, I still haven't received a complete email. I submitted early July but I did re-take the MCAT near the end of July so I guess that may put me in the submitted around the 1st of September category. Do you think that's how they consider my file, submitted once they received the second score?

If that's the case then I guess I should be complete sometime this month. By the way, does complete just means they have received everything? If I am not complete, that means that they haven't even looked at my file for consideration, correct?

I believe if you indicated another test date, schools are not going to look at your file till they receive your scores. So, it won't be considered complete until after that. Complete means received everything and the file is ready to be assessed. Admissions Offices are likely way too busy to do a "pre-assessment" on everyone, just to have to go back and look at files over again once everything is in.

I submitted my app quite late for JHU (last week) but was complete in 6 days! I was expecting to wait a few weeks based on this thread. Curious timeline of marking people complete..haha (I'm not complaining though 😛)

Hmm, so is there any significance to being complete? I thought it just meant they had all the necessary information and could begin reviewing your file.

Are you complete or does your application just say submitted?

Complete 7/31. Starting to feel like this is a silent rejection.

I have no idea really. Normally I would say no simply because I would assume they mark it based on the materials they receive from applicants. My application says complete. I got a second email different from the submitted one.

So am I the only one here that is not complete?

Makes me feel like I missed one of the directions or something.

I submitted mine and got the submit email on 9/10. There's still no sign of me being complete.

It took about a month and a half for me to be complete.

I wonder what the average wait time is from the time you are marked complete to the time that they invite you for an interview (assuming one gets invited, of course). I mean I heard it's pretty easy to get an II here. I guess we'll see. 😀

So I'm still not complete. I'm wondering what's wrong with my application or what are they possibly missing.

Anyone else still waiting to be complete?

After my interview tomorrow I need to get to DC to stay with a friend. I will be leaving campus around 8pm. Does anyone know if I will be able to take the shuttle to Penn Station, and do I need a ticket in advance to take the Acela Express into DC? And is this the best way to public trans into DC?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can take the free Hopkins shuttle to Penn Station. Hop on the northbound shuttle outside the hospital on the corner of Monument St. and Broadway; it leaves every 15 minutes or so. (info here: http://www.parking.jhu.edu/shuttles_jhmi_homewood.html)

As for getting to DC, your cheapest/best option is the MARC (commuter) train which costs $7. (info and schedule here: http://mta.maryland.gov/marc-train) You can take Amtrak (Acela or Northeast Regional) trains too, but that would be more expensive, and I'd recommend you get a ticket online in advance.

I just got one confirming my locked in reschedule

How soon did they respond? I sent an email with a pretty wide range of dates before and after the original date, but haven't heard anything back yet...

II today!! :wow: Um. I love you Johns Hopkins, but are you sure you meant to send that II to me? Can't believe this.

Also, can someone tell me when your status should change on the website? My status didn't change on the application, so I keep getting paranoid that the II was a hoax... Sorry for being neurotic 🙂

I'm going to reschedule because I have another interview that day. What a great problem to have, though!

Submitted: 8/1. Complete: 9/10. GPA: 3.7-3.9. MCAT: low 30s.

It doesn't 😉

What do you guys mean by "complete"?

When I log into the JHU SOM application page, it just says

"Application for Admission
Submission Status: Submitted"

Is this not the same as being complete?

You will get an email from JHU stating your application has been completed and is now under review. I believe they do this manually. So while you may be submitted, it seems that it takes on average over a month up to two to be completed.

I don't think I ever received an email but my status page looks like this:

I'm assuming I'm complete since it actually says "completed" with a different date then the submission date.

Wow, it only took you 8 days to be complete? I submitted well over a month ago and mine is still not showing "complete".

Strangely, someone I know received a "complete" email in late August, but their status page also says "submitted" only.

Can someone post the us news numbers for hopkins here? Would be interesting.

Yeah, my submitted day is July 6th and I still don't have a completed email or a completed date.

At the risk of irritating admissions staff, I just sent a friendly email asking if there's anything missing or a problem with my file. I completed the secondary 9/22. Will post if I hear anything back

Yeah I emailed them about a week ago. No response yet.

Wait, where do you see the status update? Are you still able to log in after submitting the secondary? B/c on the application page, it says that you won't be able to log in after you submit the secondary application.

Yes it is confusing because it says that but it still let's you log in and view or print a copy. It just doesn't let you change anything.

Hmm, that's weird, because I haven't been able to log in since I submitted my app. I did receive the "app submitted" and "app completed" emails a while ago though, and I'm almost certain that my login info is correct.

Maybe it is a technical error with my app and that's is why mine is not complete yet. The first email I received had an erroneous secondary web address. They sent a second email that day with the correction but maybe it still wasn't correct or there was some type of error.

I don't mind if I get rejected but I don't want to get rejected because they think I never submitted my secondary.

So I looked at the secondary link I was given and this is the address: https://previewapp.applyyourself.com/?id=jhu-som

So then I tried taking out the word preview and typed in:
https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=jhu-som

They both pull up an application login screen that looks identical. Which one did everyone else use or was I given the incorrect link in my email?

Do any current JHU students know if the adcom is receptive to Letters of Interest/Intent post-interview?

yes they are
thanks! do you know if they have a preference for e-mail or regular mail for these letters? Also, do you know if they reevaluate applications at subsequent committee meeting? I interviewed a while ago but since decisions don't come out until December, I'm not sure if a letter would have any impact or not.

I just submitted my secondary today. I thought the deadline was Oct 15 so I didn't even bother but I realized today that Oct 15 was the deadline for the AMCAS app, which I sent out in like June.
Anyway, I'm literally reaching for the stars on this one. What do I have to lose (besides $80)? I would die if I just had an interview there. Honestly.
Good luck everyone. Sadly we can't all get interviewed 🙁

So I'm flying from the west coast and I found that I can get flights for half the price as BWI if I fly to Washington Dulles instead. It's about an hour drive and I was wondering if anyone know a cheap/efficient way to get form Dulles to JHU? Rental Car? Taxi? Train?

Have you checked Southwest? They're often the cheapest way to get to BWI.

i think email is fine. you can send it to your faculty interviewer and cc the adcom. i would send it sooner rather than later (since decisions are made on a rolling basis). good luck 🙂

to be honest, if the difference is less than 150 bucks, i'd fly into bwi. it's not worth taking the train up to baltimore or even dealing with renting a car. the problem with dulles is that (i believe) it's not even in DC. if it were in dc proper, it would be pretty easy to take the marc train up to baltimore and to hopkins.

What about Ronald Reagan? That's pretty close to DC, and a lot cheaper than BWI...

It's pretty easy to get up to Baltimore from Reagan. You hope on the metro to Union Station then take the MARC up to Penn station in Baltimore. Hopkins shuttle goes from there to campus.

Seconded. Used shuttle and MARC to get to DC after my interview. MARC is 7 bucks and is a nice train

Any body care to provide a description of their interview day here? For those who went in this season?

Would be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone know if Hopkins read apps/give out interviews in the order they're received? A lot of the invites here aren't really following chronological order...
