Does RFUMS offer student overnight hosting?
Hey guys! If you haven't been reading the thread up until now, I just wanted to make sure that you now that if you are interviewing at our school, we have a student hosting program. Admissions will send a link regarding getting in touch with current students, but if you can't seem to figure it out and you have an interview scheduled, e-mail [email protected] and we'll try to find a host for you.
In addition, if you've already interviewed or just want to speak to a current student about the school (and you aren't interested in being hosted), we'd be happy to set you up with someone. Again, [email protected].
One more time: [email protected].

Same, I got the small pool email 12/5 as well but no rejection letter/email yet.I haven't gotten that notice yet... Don't kill everyone's hope.
Rejected yesterday pre-interview as well.
Same. Feeling pretty rough.
Eh. I got an acceptance elsewhere. But I have a feeling people's inboxes will be filling up with rejection emails in the next few weeks as schools end interviews.
@tantacles
So, I am currently wait listed at a few other schools, some of which are more preferred than CMS to which I am accepted. What should I do for housing/roommates? Should I assume that I will most likely matriculate at CMS and finalize housing and roommates by May (or how early should I finalize?) and simply let roommate(s) know that I am waiting to hear back from several wait lists?
I doubt your future potential roommates would appreciate signing a lease with you, only to be ditched later if you were accepted into a school other than cms.
😉
That is what I am worrying about. I guess I can wait till June-early July, because that will be usually when I will know quite certainly whether waiting for my wait list movements is worthwhile.

In addition, I have a car but is it encouraged to have one at CMS? I am debating whether I should drive from NY to CMS. I know that it will come in handy during 3rd year rotations, but I just wanted to ask.
There are two and ONLY TWO reasons that might compel you to finalize your housing options now:
1. If you plan to live alone, finalize your housing. You can eat the deposit if you get into a less expensive/more desirable school.
2. If you plan to live in student housing (which I would strongly suggest against), you can easily withdraw from the school and no one will be negatively affected by your choice; the school can find someone else to fill your place.
As @BlackBox alluded to, perhaps unintentionally, one of my good friends signed a lease with another girl only to have her back out because she was accepted at the last minute to her state school. She had to shell out around $600 more during her first quarter of school; not a great start. So wait to finalize your housing. Once you finalize your housing (assuming you're getting a roommate at a private apartment complex or in the navy housing), I would say you have a significant obligation to withdraw from all of the waitlists you're on and stick with it. Many people (I did this too) finalize their housing within two months before the start of school. And remember; once you start orientation, you are required to withdraw from all other schools by AMCAS rules, so if you haven't been accepted to another school by then, you're stuck.
With regard to a car, drive your car here. I drove here from the east coast; it's doable. I would suggest renting a hotel to split the drive into two parts; I would gladly recommend the place I stayed at in Lake Erie, but you may prefer to stay midway between NY and Chicago.
Why do you need a car? North Chicago is a food desert unless you have one; you need a car to get to the grocery store, coffee shops, and restaurants. We don't even have sidewalks in this area.

Why do you strongly suggest against student housing? It seemed pretty convenient when I visited. Do most of your classmates living off-campus drive to class? I didn't see very many options near the school and lack of sidewalks/bike lanes.
Thank you for your response.
So it looks like I will be traveling out of country from May 21st to June 26th. Since the classes begin in the first week of August (according to the last year's thread), I will have the whole July to finalize the housing and roommates. If I don't hear anything from wait lists until I return to the U.S., I will be certain with attending the CMS.
With that said, when should I begin looking for the navy housing and roommates? Should I look for potential roommates now through facebook?
Also, if I happen to be unable to bring my car for whatever reason, what should I do? It will be nice if roommates or others could give me a ride for groceries every now and then, but I will definitely feel bad with asking for a ride many times. Is renting a car encouraged in this case?
Is there going to be any acceptance this week? I was placed on hold one week after my Jan 15 interview...waiting to hear something.
You were put on waitlist? I was interviewed on the 10th of January and haven't heard anything. I wonder why your application got processed so quick...Is there going to be any acceptance this week? I was placed on hold one week after my Jan 15 interview...waiting to hear something.
I was small pooled on the first week of this month. Best of luck my friend. So I never heard anything from this school after I was complete in late August, and I just assumed that ship had sailed. And then I got a small pool email on Friday...I was pretty shocked haha. I have sent in my deposit at a DO school and am pretty set on going there, but this came out of left field. I didn't get any interviews at MD programs so I can't even fathom receiving a late ii from RFUMS. Anyone else recently get small pooled?

When were you complete?
I wasn't complete until November something. When were you complete jorjorswens?
I interviewed Jan 8th and it's been crickets since. Do some interviewees get post interview holds and some do not? Just wanting me make sure I'm not missing something.

I was small pooled in November, and it's been radio silence ever sense. I can only tell myself for so long that no news is good news. Can anyone shed some light on this small pool and then wait for three-four months situation? Since I cannot send an update yet, is there anything I can do other than wait? Thanks!!
I also interviewed on January 8. I got a post-interview hold email on January 24. I wonder why I got an uneventful update when you didn't get an update at all.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge regarding this, but is this email the same thing as being waitlisted?
