I'm waiting on eight (just heard from the ninth yesterday). I was definitely not expecting the sudden lull.
Yeah I have 6 secondaries out and flat 1 rejection.

Schools already started with rejections? I'm sorry! 🙁
Nothing here. Infact I'm still waiting to hear back from 9 programs (some MD some DO) and I was completed on 6/13 (AMCAS) & 6/21 (AACOMAS)

It's okay. I have a bad cGPA from when I did my bachelors that I've been working on recovering. Some school look at last 50 credits, others have a hard limit on cGPA. I was .01 below their minimum for secondary screening.
I'm not sure where RFU cuts off in particular, but I know that most people think 8 is the magic number for screenings but also that 10 is what you want in each section. Most of the schools I called with this kind of question were nice enough to answer -- worth a shot, 🙂.
I don't think there are any word limits. It seems like every thread in the recent past has complained about not knowing how little or much to write for the essays!
I'm looking for a little advice on the "life in discovery" prompt. I'm a reapplicant and submitted my primary to RFU last year, but not the secondary. One of my most meaningful experiences in research from last year responds indirectly to this question, and I didn't include it in my primary application this year.
If I tweak it to respond more directly to this question, do you think it is okay to include? I don't want to be perceived as lazy, but re-reading it, the idea seems perfect.
Hey guys,
applying to Rosy this application cycle. I have a 3.9 GPA, 31 MCAT, tons of research including a masters degree, tons of shadowing/volunteer hours. Usually terrible in interviews though.
I was hoping that any of the current med students or anyone involved with Rosy could tell me a little bit more about the school and location? Truth be told, I applied to Rosy because someone told me to but I don't know a thing about the school. Or Chicago for that matter other than the fact that it's absurdly cold there. I'm a small town guy so big cities intimidate me a little bit. Currently live in an Atlanta suburb so the 'burbs don't really frighten me.
If you didn't complete a secondary, then the RFUMS staff didn't even look at your application. You're fine.
Has anyone actually received a secondary here yet? I cannot quite tell.
The first "secondary received!!1!11!" post on SDN from last year was on 29 June 2012.Better question first is to find out when secondaries were sent out last year. That is what I would like to know if anyone has this information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

it will be sent out next week
Awesome. Did you contact them?
No secondaries yet as far as I know. The thread will probably blow up a bit when they come out.Hi everyone.
have your folks received secondary? if so,, how long did it take. Thanks
Idk why people don't like screening ? It saves you time and money since they were never going to consider you anyways
👍 I agree. I wish every school screened. I'm not a big fan of wasting time writing out all of these essays and shelling out another $100 at a school that i'm not even sure is interested in the slightest in my application.

Prompts are preferably 1 page but up to 2 pages.
1) Describe your unique characteristics, a significant difficulty you have overcome or a major accomplishment you have achieved that will help to shape you into a physician who will pursue the CMS Admissions Vision. *
2) How do you envision the physician role within interprofessional health care teams? *
Are we sure they screen prior to secondary? The sec said "we invite you to submit a sec," but every school says that?
Oh okay. I thought there was some debate whether or not they screened pre-sec.Yeah every school makes it sound exclusive even if it isn't.

May you post the prompt? thank you 🙂
How do I write a page on question #2...
I just hit a page for question #2, granted it took me 4 hours to write. How do I write a page on question #2...
They "recommend" writing a page per questionI am not sure a full page is better than half that proving you point, whatever that may be....
They "recommend" writing a page per question
Agreed. 1 page seems a bit muchGranted, but I still believe if I can convince them in less than a page there will be no issues. I haven't started writing so I can't say what I will do but I think a page is quite a bit much, esp single spaced.
I believe soHas the secondary been sent out yet?
I believe so
What the hell lol. This was one of the first secondaries I pre-wrote haha, where is mine?
Yes. Prompts:Has the secondary been sent out yet?
We recommend essays to be approximately one page in length. We request no longer than two pages single spaced.

those are it? no optional essays?
Yup, the secondary is tiny this year! It literally only asks for your name, AMCAS ID, email address, dropdown box for "how did you hear about Chicago Medical School" and those two essay prompts. Not even an "additional comments" section.those are it? no optional essays?
