For those who got II, what did you put as your reason for choosing Tulane?
Rejection. 3.3 UG/3.88 SMP/32 MCAT.
A bit of a longshot with tuition anyways, still annoying to waste that 125 though.
Oh well, good luck all.
Oh no sorry to hear!! Their loss right? When were you complete?
To those of you who are also interviewing: To what email did you reply "CONFIRM" with? I'm not sure if I replied to the correct one... Has anyone received a confirmation after doing so?
Received rejection email. 3.8/38 OOS. Good luck to everyone else!
What are they looking for us my question!!
There are lots of reasons a school admits or does not admit students. No one gets in everywhere. Tulane is doing outright rejections earlier than a lot of other schools, but many, many of those holds and lack of responses from other institutions will not lead to student interviews (Though of course some probably will). I personally like knowing the outcome, interview or otherwise, upfront so I can plan accordingly.
Yeah, can we ban this guy? He's a worthless scammer. I PM'ed him, and he told me to email him. I did, and this is how he replied:
"I work with the application board (with Beckman, et al) and I know what the flags are and what gets a person in amidst all the incredibly high scores and very competitive applications right now.
If you want to improve your app and basically increase your chance of acceptance to about 99% Paypal me $100 to this address and I'll give you complete instructions. Please don't advertise on SDN that I'm doing this. Some will take the offer and actually get in with this info and some won't. $100 is a tiny TINY drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of med school applications and actually becoming a doctor. It's your call, of course. If I were applying these days I'd definitely pay a fee for an edge. I can assure you the info will basically get you in."
I'm pretty sure they don't have the highest tuition, so it might have something to do with a large portion of the class getting an MD/MPH, which adds like an extra 32k without scholarship money. Also tulane has a lot of non traditional students, who may have had a lot of debt coming in from masters degrees or post bacc programs.
Does average indebtedness count previous debt from masters/post-bac (or undergrad)? I thought it was just your med school debt.
I did a genuine response like that in my secondary since I graduated from Tulane as an undergraduate in 2012, but my mcat stat was low for them, 31 MCAT, 3.7 science. (Didn't hurt that bad though since I already have a DO acceptance I like this cycle to Lecom Bradenton. Did 29 DO applications and 23 MD apps. Still waiting on the MD apps, except for Tulane. Reapplicant so went app crazy).one piece of unsolicited advice I got during my interview day that really helped, that I think will be useful for secondaries is you need to really think through and write about why New Orleans and Tulane. The administration of the school emphasizes the synergy between the two and how without New Orleans Tulane would not be what it is and how without Tulane New Orleans would not be how it is. think about how you fit in to this dynamic and what you have to offer and what the city/university has to offer you.
I think this is really something most people don't realize until you get here (I certainly didn't until orientation...I think every 5th word during orientation was New Orleans or some variation of it. it really is that important to the character of the school, and the admissions will probably be able to see through any half-hearted attempts to adapt an essay about another city to new orleans). many universities are just located in a city but that city does not shape the school (I know this was the case for my undergrad) but with Tulane New Orleans is very much part of the equation and they want people who want to be at Tulane and in New Orleans for good reasons (and festivals/partying/parades are good reasons...but you might want other good reasons)
my .02
also ask this guy ^^^^ he will know way more than me I bet

When were you complete?Rejected today. OOS 3.55 32 great ECs. Oh well 31 others to go.
In a bizarre turn of events, TUSOM and I exchanged some words over email, which led to him posting proof that he does indeed work at Tulane. He also said that some people did contact him about it, and he made several hundred dollars. Which planted a nugget of doubt in my mind; what if he was telling the truth? What if there is some secret trick to getting in that few people know about? Not that I would pay $100 upfront anyways with no guarantees of it working, but it got me thinking. Would anyone who contacted him care to PM me what magic advice he provided about getting in? I'm sure it's bs anyways, but I'm somewhat curious.
If you can arrange to be in the city for the weekend before or after your interview, do so. Just about everyone is going to ask you how you like New Orleans so far and what you've done here. If you've been before that's good, talk about it. But it may look like you're not that interested in New Orleans if you just fly in and fly out or have never gotten a feel for the city.
This year and last year. Genuine response is good, but ultimately you need a high MCAT to get Tulane's attention. Heard somewhere the dean wanted higher MCAT scores. Are you saying that you had a genuine response in a previous year and did not get in?

Just checked... Complete July 29th. I also didn't say much about why Tulane or New Orleans.
Just received an interview invite! Complete 7-17. Given one date to interview (9/27) and email says they are unavailable to reschedule. Good luck to those still waiting to hear something!
Take THAT rejection!!
Rejected: August 7th
Interview Invite: August 21st
I have a feeling that the copious early rejections might have had several mistakes mixed in... so if you've been rejected, there's still hope! 👍

the sanctity of medical school email communication has been broken
all is in doubt now
such a dark world we live in
watch as this thread tumbles into chaos
(hope they dont take back that interview invite, you should reply with "no take backs," thatll seal the deal)

so tulane has the highest average indebtedness per msar of any us school. can anyone speak to why that is or if its changing? i love the school but i'd love it more if the price were right

Can anyone who got an II earlier on answer this question? I just got an II at midnight, and was wondering what to do.
