I was accepted to Tulane back in November and was planning on attending second look weekend this spring. I contacted admissions and was told there would be no second look weekend this year. Would any current students be willing to let me go to class with you for a day in march? I was hoping to get one more look at the school and city before making my decision.
Yes I did and thought it was extremely helpful. I slept on a couch, but it was a damn good couch. They'll also give you some useful tips for the interviewHas anyone stayed with a student host for their interview at Tulane? How are accommodations, and were you able to get a better feel for what it's like to be a student at Tulane?

Question for current students:
I'm in New Orleans now on an unofficial second look trip and I'm wondering what I should take a look at in the medical buildings (I.e. Where do 1st and 2nd year students spend the most time?)
Yesterday, I went up to Admissions in the Murphy building and took a second look at the student center and gym. In the main medical building, I poked my head in the lecture hall, food court, student center, library, and walked through several departments. Also walked across the bridge into the medical center.
Did I miss anything?
I think you are missing the entire point of going to New Orleans for a second look. IT'S NEW ORLEANS!!!Question for current students:

I get the point, but I'm acceptance range waitlisted. Top choice too.I think you are missing the entire point of going to New Orleans for a second look. IT'S NEW ORLEANS!!!
"The 1st and 2nd year students spend the most time" not in the med school buildings at all. Go out. Have an adventure. Tell us how much fun you had. Make us jelly!!
2/28 is the last interview day I believeI think they stop interviewing end of Feb
Do you suggest waiting until interviews end before sending a post-interview letter of interest?2/28 is the last interview day I believe
I think that's up to you. I usually wait because I want to use it if it's wait listed and want to send LOI/update letter combination.Do you suggest waiting until interviews end before sending a post-interview letter of interest?
totally depends. I honestly do not know how much it helps either way. I guess an LOI (if you actually mean it) would be something they could take into consideration, but, since Tulane's turn around is usually fairly fast, I would wait. also you may get in without it (if you are already wait listed then send away)Do you suggest waiting until interviews end before sending a post-interview letter of interest?
I was put into the acceptance range so not wait list, at least not yet.totally depends. I honestly do not know how much it helps either way. So what does this mean for people who interviewed in January if they are already sending out February acceptances? I interviewed in early January and still haven't heard anything.
Thanks for the reassurance! Starting to go slightly crazy over here. YikesI wouldn't worry. There were people who heard back before I did and their interview date was after mine. it took about 2 months for me to hear back but it seems to vary
Should we expect some type of confirmation email after sending an accept response?
I'm anxiously waiting to hear back post-interview! How long is the turnaround?
Thanks!I heard 4 weeks, which is the upper range on that handout we got in the interview packet.
I wonder if that is why there is no second look this year... because last year's inaugural Second Look was so successful that everybody wanted to come to Tulane and it messed up the waiting list movement?Last year there was no waitlist movement at all. Fewer people than usual declined their acceptances, and we ended up with a larger class than usual. I doubt if anyone knows for sure what will happen this year. I'm sure it will come down to how many people end up accepting or declining their acceptances, and we won't know that until May 15th.
Please let this be true. Tulane is definitely my #1 choice but I'm stuck in the acceptance range list.I wonder if that is why there is no second look this year... because last year's inaugural Second Look was so successful that everybody wanted to come to Tulane and it messed up the waiting list movement?
If that's the case, let's be glad there is no second look, because then all the half-hearted accepted students might go elsewhere!
I stayed at the Maison Dupuy. I had a fantastic time and it was in the middle of all the action. You can walk or cab it from the hotel to the interview. I guess it is expensive though, because I don't think many interviewees stay there.
Staying with a student host is also popular, if you are only going to spend a night here.
Acceptance Ranged. Interviewed late January.
Interviewed: 1/31/14
Accepted: 2/24/14
Love the school and love the city!
