2014-2015 Indiana University Application Thread

I interviewed 11/05 and got a letter yesterday. I interviewed with a dean of admissions though so maybe my application moved faster? Not sure
I interviewed with you! And with the admissions dean as well!

Accepted yesterday!! - a bunch of stats if anyone is wondering: Interviewed 11/05 in Gary. ii oct 17. OOS IL 3.44GPA, 3.48sGPA, 11/9/11 mcat, Top 10 school URM

Hey guys! I decided to stop lurking and come out of the shadows 😀
I just got an acceptance letter on Thursday. I'm an OOS reapplicant and I interviewed on 11/12 at Muncie

Question for accepted students: the letter says we need to respond within 14 days by mailing back our admission decision letter. Does that mean I have to literally just mail back the decision letter or is there some kind of form I need to sign and send back?

does anyone else have a "under consideration" status on their application? I'm just wondering what that means exactly.. Like a wait list maybe?

It's not a wait list. That's basically the status everyone gets when thier application is complete. It won't change until you receive a decision.

earlier in the thread it was said that you just have to type up in Word that you are accepting the seat and mail it to them.

Yupp! Also the website is a little delayed compared to the mail. Letter of acceptance was dated 12/12. Received 12/17 (I think it was mailed 12/15). Website updated status to "Accepted" today (12/19). Hopefully this gives everyone a rough timeline!

same exact timeline for me. on the east coast

Can anyone explain a little more about holding multiple acceptances? I got accepted into another school, and Indiana is my first choice if I get placed at the closest campus (which is driving distance from where I live), otherwise I would have to move and would rather go with the other school. Is it frowned upon to hold an acceptance at a school when you're about 80% sure that you'll just withdraw come May?
I would just be more comfortable having a backup school- just in case I don't get placed in the campus of my choice in Indiana.

You can hold as many acceptances as you'd like until April 30th, by that day you can only hold 1. It's not going to be looked down upon, schools know that you are considering other schools.

Has anyone sent in Fall 2014 transcripts? I seem to recall them saying they wanted our grades for this semester, but I can't remember if this was only for those with acceptances. My interviewer asked which classes I was taking...

The admissions office is going to be closed for a couple of weeks, so I thought I'd ask on here!

Just curious...how did you find out they close for a couple of weeks?

Does it mean the next round of any info (accept/wait/reject will not be as early as mid to late Jan 2015?

I sent an email and I got an automatic reply saying the admissions office would be closed from 12/24 to 01/02 and normal hours would resume on the 5th of January

When did they say they wanted our Fall grades?

Is there a deadline to send Fall transcripts? Is sending transcripts for accepted applicants or interviewing/not accepted yet applicants? Also is it okay to change campus preference once you made

I have my interview scheduled for next week, does anybody that has interviewed at Indiana have any tips, suggestions, or could please fill me in on how the interview went?! I'm a little nervous and don't know what to expect, this is my very first interview!!

Your interview will be 2 on 1 (or 1 on 1, if one of your assigned interviewers is busy) and will be open file. I had 3 interviewers but they were all really nice so it wasn't bad. They focused on ethics and other questions that had to do with my activities experience and other details mentioned in my application and lasted about 45 minutes. Overall, it was conversational and my interviewers were very friendly. My suggestion is to really know you amcas application and think about the different ethics questions or competency questions they could ask based on your file.

what do you do if you forgot your catchprase?
i sent a letter accepting my spot in the class but I didnt pick a campus, is that part of the 2 week deadline?

Competencies competencies competencies. Just have a general idea of how you fit with their competencies.

Picking a campus is not a part of the two week deadline, as long as you mailed your decision.

I interviewed in early October but haven't heard anything yet. Am I out of the running? Should I send in my fall transcript?

I interviewed in early October as well and have heard nothing. However, my interviewer did advise me not to worry if I didn't hear anything right away and that the adcom did most of its work after the holidays. Hopefully that's true and we hear some (good) news soon 🙂

Edit: apparently we should only send transcripts if IU requests them

Do you know if they allow for updates? Thanks for your help.

I am trying to submit my graduate application. When I press "submit and pay application fee" it takes me to a blank page with only a heading "Pay Application Fee". Anyone else having the same issue?

Just wondering, is there any way to estimate how many spots are still open or how many acceptances they've sent out?
