2015-2016 Case Western Reserve University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
II today! LizzyM 74-75, OOS, complete 8/10!!!!!! Is Case's admissions rolling with decisions? I'm guessing the earliest interview date is best.

Yep rolling admissions, first acceptances come out on October 16th.

Rejectedddddd. Submitted my secondary 8/7/2015. Good luck everyone 🙂

Just received an email saying "This email is to notify you that your status in iApply has changed. Please check your status". When I checked, nothing has changed. I was rejected from the University Track last week. College Track has not changed. Anyone else receive an email and not change in their status on iApply?

@jmpatt29 I got an email with the subject title "CWRU School of Medicine Application Status Update" and they rejected me within the email. When I login to the portal, the same rejection letter shows up with an application status of "no interview invitation"

Gotcha, sorry to hear that but based upon other threads you have had some good II! where have you interviewed so far?

Interviewed at University of Cincinnati and Quinnipiac so far, and got University of Miami for MD and MD/MPH and Tulane coming up! My parents live in Ohio though, so crossing my fingers for some love from other Ohio schools 🙂

Do the UT and CT accept pre-interview updates?

Man, my flight was not cheap (~700 bucks... half my bank account )

Hope a student host can take me

A rule of thumb for updates is to make sure they're at least somewhat significant. Realistically, I don't know how much an update will change things unless it's really something major. That being said, we probably have the chillest and most receptive admissions staff of any medical school, so it probably wouldn't hurt your application at least. If your update would make a difference anywhere, it would at Case.

I opted to wait 1wk instead of taking the earliest date because it saved me at least $100, if not twice that. Learned my lesson paying $600 for a Wayne State interview 😱
Now to find out whether the extra stress of waiting in anticipation is worth it, lol!

Yea I called and they were very receptive. I had an update about a publication so I felt it was important enough to at least inform them of. I contacted both UT and CT separately and both accepted the update.

Oh man, I wish I could wait a bit too (200 bucks or so is about right in terms of the potential savings), but my work schedule prevented that :dead:

The excitement cuts through it though :luck:

Been complete since 7/16 and heard nothing back so far lol, no rejection, no hold, no acceptance, LizzyM 73.

They're definitely rejecting people, so no news ain't bad news

Damn that sucks. It cost me like 300 total both ways from the west coast.
Leaving after 6:00 pm vs the morning of my interview added a huge chunk.... I also had the option of an overnight layover in Chicago to save maybe 150... but I wasn't having that

Only saves money if you sleep on the airport floor anyway.

Current M1 here at UT and happy to answer any questions! Also, I have been leading tours on interview days so say hi if I bumped into you at upcoming interviews!

II at CT, UT! Very excited.

I am slightly confused because it seems like there is no way to schedule the two interviews back to back so I would have to travel to Cleveland twice separately. Is this always the case or do they sometimes open up slots to coordinate the interviews?

Complete date please?

I scheduled my CT interview first for october, and UT only had dates in september. I emailed the UT admissions office and they were very helpful and let me schedule on one of the "hidden" dates

Just checked the portal and it looks like they've rejected me.

Weird thing is, the letter is dated October 12th. Huh.

All of these holds, rejections, IIs... it seems like there's movement but I've been complete for both tracks since 7/16 and not heard a word except two invitations to join their Anesthesiology masters program, or whatever that frightening e-mail was....

Ditto, except no Anesthesiology email(s) for me...

Same except done since 7/22. I got that Anesthesiology email too, maybe Case is tryna tell us something lmao

Rejected for UT this morning...complete 7/27...LizzyM 65

Still in the running for CT & MSTP prayerfully
I considered applying MSTP but ultimately decided I didn't stand a chance. That being said, I'm still interested in what the competition is like. Mind showing the rest of your hand, research experience, publications... stuff like that? My LizzyM is pretty low, but I've published more papers than most post docs. Guess if by some miracle I'm accepted somewhere, I'd consider applying to that MSTP.

Then again, it's none of my damn business.

Rejection from UT, BUT LITERALLY DON'T EVEN CARE RIGHT NOW because II from CT came through at the same time!!!
AHHHH so excited I think this program would be perfect for me :biglove:
Complete 8/14, LizzyM 75

Edit: I was initially placed on hold for CT (9/16) and just got a status update change this morning of UT rejection/CT II. So for anyone on hold, apparently there's hope!! I thought it was basically a rejection waiting to happen but apparently not!
