2015-2016 Case Western Reserve University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those of you who have received interviews, when was the latest date to schedule them?

No clue, didn't look past October but plenty of October dates open. I assume if you really wanted you could schedule into January/February or whenever they stop.

is it wrong to assume since there are lots of October dates there are also lots of interviews left to be handed out? I've been complete since 7/16 and haven't been rejected yet so I'm hopeful and I want an II from Case very badly.

I don't think that is a bad assumption. Remember they have been actively rejecting people so there must be a reason you haven't been rejected yet.

Rejected from CT. Oh well, no publications and lower MCAT (513). A girl can dream!

Okay, update: just got a UT II via email! I never got an email to check my status about CT though so I'm a little confused but happy too! Sorry for so many posts!
It is possible, though I of course don't have any inside information, that they attempt to inform you about both at the same time (efforts which we circumvent through obsessive portal checking, haha!

Anyone else complete mid-July still waiting on news from UT and CT ? I'm radio silence on all fronts

Unfortunately, I expect that to be the case for a while. They have far exceeded the number of total applications they received last year. Best thing to do is forget about it until it shows up in your email!

On hold pre-interview for CT via portal (no email as of yet)...complete 7/27...LizzyM 65

"The Committee will revisit your application and notify you of a final decision no later than December 31, 2015." Has anyone else received this?

Yup, my CT hold letter says that

To the people who already interviewed: how many people were in your interview group?

IQ curriculum: 2 hour sessions on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Get two cases on Monday, thoroughly read through both with your group of ~8, and make learning objectives. Go home and research the learning objectives using a variety of sources- textbooks, primary research articles, etc. Get back together on Wednesday and walk through one case's learning objective with the group, repeat on Friday for the second case's learning objectives. Throughout all of this, a faculty member (PhD, MD, whatever) makes sure you don't get too off track with your learning objectives, though sometimes it can feel like you're shooting in the dark. IQ material is very high yielding for our totally short answer SSEQ exams, so the research done is super helpful and relevant.

Hey all. If anyone will be in town for a while before and/or after the interview (so Thurs evening, or Fri evening, Sat morning) I'd be down to explore the city with you (all). I've done this for past interviews and it's always been a blast with other folks from SDN. Message me if you're interested

I've got work after the interview so unfortunately I can't join you, but I highly recommend heading down to East 4th Street for dinner.

Did anybody get a complete email, or does it just show up on the portal?

If you look a bit lower on the page it should say "marked complete on xx/xx"

What's the timeframe for being complete? Mine still says "SUBMITTED including PAYMENT".

If you scroll further down on the status page, there should be a line of text that says "Marked Complete: Yes on [date]." That's what signifies that you are complete. To the best of my knowledge, the "SUBMITTED including PAYMENT" just stays there forever.

I have an II and it still says that for me lol. Look lower on the page, it should say" Marked complete: Yes, *insert date here*"

Can someone please remind me what days of the week interviews are scheduled on...

I no longer have access to the calendar as I already picked a date but would like to change it.

Has anyone had to re-schedule an interview last minute, either at Case or another school? I'm kind of freaking out right now, I've been feeling more and more pukey by the minute, and I'm running a fever of over 100 degrees, and now my suite mate just revealed to me that she's been sick with the stomach flu for the last three days. My interview is supposed to be Friday, and if I'm puking I'd rather not go because I really do not want to risk puking all over my interviewer. I'm just wondering if Case would be willing to reschedule me and, if they do, would it be for some date in January or something?

You're in town, right? I had an interview recently which I traveled for, and the only way I got through it was loading up on Dayquil. If it weren't for those non-refundable plane tickets, I would have absolutely asked for another date.

While it's ideal to interview early, you don't want to interview if you don't feel like you can put in a good performance. In general, schools are very understanding about this, and will put you in the next available interview day. Don't sweat it (pun not intended), just call them up and tell them you've got a stomach flu and would like to reschedule. After all, they don't want you there either if you're going to get them sick!

I interviewed here recently. Just got an email message "This email is to notify you that your status in iApply has changed. Please check your iApply account for further details." I thought for sure it was a rejection, since what else can they change the status to before Oct 15? When I checked the portal, I don't see anything different though... still just the interview information.

What does it mean??? 😕

Maybe try calling them? The admissions office would certainly know what that means.

I had to reschedule because of some travel issues and they were really amenable and understanding.
