2015-2016 Howard University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
when I interviewed in Mid November, they said that we should hear back around December 18th. Im surprised October interviewees haven't heard back yet.

Has anyone that was complete in mid-October received an interview yet?

This school seems to be dragging their feet compared to last year, huh?

Are out of committee emails typically a good thing? Not sure how to take it given this school has been relatively quiet 😵

thats a good sign! My friend that interviewed in October got one today so Im hoping for one tomorrow since I interviewed in November

Is Howard receptive to updates? Couldn't find any information through the website. If anyone has submitted updates, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could tell me the email or whether they prefer it through snail mail?

Has anyone gotten through the phone lines? I haven't been able to get through for the past couple of months

On my i interview, I heard that Thursday mornings are good to call in. Not sure why. I think I remember hearing 11-2 but that may be wrong.

I wasn't sure whether or not the adcoms were receptive to updates, but sent an update letter to the same email that sent out the secondary invites. I didn't hear anything back from them, so hopefully no news is good news..

Yes, they are receptive. Here's the response I received when I asked about it.

"Dear applicant,

Thank You for your interest in Howard University’s College of Medicine. We request that you send all application updates, via email, to[email protected] with the subject line APPLICATION UPDATE. This will expedite the process of reviewing the update and helps the admissions staff review emails more efficiently. Please include all update materials in the body of the email if possible. Please Note: Application Updates cannot be officially added to your application as all official application updates must be verified through AMCAS. Therefore, attachments will not be able to be uploaded to your AMCAS account through the Admissions office. Once again, the Admissions staff appreciates your interest in Howard’s medical school.

Sincerely,

Howard University’s College of Medicine-Office of Admissions "

Thanks so much! I'm a little confused though, they'll accept updates but they aren't officially added to our application? But they'll still be looked at?

Interviewed October 27th and got the "out of committee" letter and was told that they could not release the decision until the letter was signed. It also said that I could call Thursday to get the decision since the letter would be signed then.

Sounds very positive. Good luck!!!

Any acceptances today? Surprised it takes this long for the dean to sign a letter lol

No email yet! I called no answer. It's killing me waiting , especially since they said today it should be signed .

Hmmm was really thinking they would have sent out am email about the office being closed till January. Maybe we might all still get some news b4 Christmas.

Is anybody else receiving a barrage of emails about the secondary invite? I received one today that mentioned that there was an error in sending secondaries out, therefore they missed a lot of applicants. Then I got sent the secondary invitation. After that I've gotten the same email over 3 times.

No emails here, but at least they are sending something right? Maybe there will be some good news today or tomorrow just in time for Christmas/Holiday season.

I know there's a lot of people saying they haven't heard of interviews in January so I thought I'd let y'all know my time line.

II scheduled for January 13th, I got the invitation on 12/1, Secondary screened 9/22, invitation to complete secondary 8/17. Good luck to everyone during this stressful time.
