I got the interview invite by email today at 18:16 from the same lady that I replied to from that email they sent on friday !!

ugh I didn't get an email. What was the email address of the lady that emailed you on friday (if you don't mind PM-ing it to me cuz I do want to express that I am interested in Howard!)

congrats again!

I also wonder, if someone does give us the email address, should we like simply say we are interested or write like a letter of intent or something

I don't know what to make of this either :nailbiting: I asked my SO what he thought (since he's not nearly as neurotically invested in this as I am) and his most optimistic suggestion was that maybe there are several ppl assigned to reaching out to applicants, and while one person decided they didn't mind spending their late Friday afternoon sending out emails to a gazillion applicants, the other adcoms decided to wait til Monday. Let's just keep hope alive!
The one sending that particular mail and following interview invite was the director of admissions Mrs Judith Walk. I don't think many people are doing it.

@varens1 CONGRATS!!! 🙂
I didn't know so I was just trying to stay positive about the whole email vs no email thing. I did realize though, that this is probably the "blast email" that some of my correspondence from Howard said I'd receive in March. So I guess Howard is on track after all??

To be honest with you I have no idea what this is and where they are going with it. It still feels unreal to have an interview at Howard especially when they only interview about 300 people. I'm just gonna go and see where it goes. Can you tell me what type of questions they asked you during your interview ?

Can anybody who interviewed give me some insight about what type of questions they ask and also a feel of what interview day will be like?

I haven't had an interview (yet??). So I can't be of much help there, but hopefully some of the other accepted sdn'ers can help you out. Good luck!!

I was really hoping this is what would happen to me but instead she responded saying that she had 200+ people respond saying they were still interested in the first 24 hours and they only wanted ~100 more interviews. She said she would review my application and get back to me so fingers are still crossed.

However I do think the email was targeted, not just general because she responded to specific things that I said so at least they're paying attention to people now.

I received the email and withdrew my application this morning, I hope it opens a spot for someone!

The beginning started with an ice breaker to get to know your fellow interviewees and an introduction with Mrs. Walk (who's really nice btw). Then you take a tour to their newly built simulation center which is ridiculously nice and has pretty cool amenities such as laproscopic surgery simulators, dexterity machines, and patient simulator rooms. Afterwards interviews start and to be honest with you the questions they ask really depend on your interviewer. I got incredibly lucky and had the nicest/extremely encouraging interviewer. We had more of a conversation than an interview where he threw in the occasional why Howard, is there any specialty your interested in nothing too crazy at all. He did have my application in front of him and asked some application specific questions and I added some things I had done since I submitted my secondary which he wrote down so I highly suggest finding a way to work a faux application update in there if it applies. After we talked about what he does for a while and I asked a lot of questions about it and he seemed really honest and passionate while telling me the good and the not so good about Howard. A couple of other students and I had time to go to a first year class and talk to students which were all super welcoming and asked us about how were doing, where we from etc. Then we went on a tour by some first year students who you should ask any and all questions to. Finally we toured the anatomy lab and we finished the day with a financial aid presentation/overview of the 4 years including their latest match/step statistics.

Sorry if that was too long I wanted to be detailed and am procrastinating starting a take-home test.

So is this basically a rejection if you didn't get an email?

😉Well at least you got a reply? I haven't gotten any response yet, so I'm still hoping and praying.

I think I did a review of my interview experience can't remember a while back (interviewed in October ) but the information above is very accurate . Just wanted to add, they make you do a written secondary type of thing when you get there in the morning so make sure to refresh yourself on your application. Also my interviewer was not welcoming , she had a poker face. When I asked questions she didn't elaborate or anything. I thought my interview was just ok but I did get an acceptance ! So even if your interview seems harsh just push through ! Good luck to you guys. (FYI once you interview it takes forever to hear back so don't panic when it's over ,they will give a decision ...interviewed in October got my decision two days before Christmas )

I wrote a lot, sort of. I hope it is taken into consideration.

That late in the cycle ??? They better not do that. I mean it would be ridiculous for them to get back to interviewers in may.

ok so I dont know what's going on with responding from my phone but @varens1 I haven't heard back yet. I interviewed Feb. 23rd and she said if we haven't heard in 30 days to give them a call so hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

Ive been calling Howard and no ones picking up. I just find it unfair for those of us that havent received an email asking if we are still interested because I am.

PM me the number and tell what to ask. I will try to help.

I just want to know if they are still giving out interview invites to people who didn't get that email because I have not received a single interview anywhere and I am so so interested in attending Howard. Ive been calling this number: 202-806-6279.

I want to send an email but I also don't know what to write to them. I don't want to repeat my whole application in an email because they already have my application and in reference to why Howard, I do not want to give the generic oh because you have all these cool things like simulation labs, curriculum, etc.

i think if you feel compelled to write a letter of interest...then you should. don't overanalyze.

I just checked my portal for no reason. At least it didn't say "rejected".

Don't be worried at all if you don't hear back within 30 days. I interviewed on January 13th and I haven't gone into committee yet. Just have faith in the process and trust that things will work out for the best!

Hey Everyone!

I am a current med student at Howard! I just wanted to drop in and say congrats on all the acceptances so far and best of luck to everyone still going through the process. I know the waiting game is absolutely terrible, and this website doesn't help much sometimes lol. Either way if you have any questions you can message me. I can't promise I will have all the answers, but I remember being in your shoes and would have loved for a current student to reach out. Good vibes sent all around!

Hey how to you check the Howard portal ?
