2015-2016 Quinnipiac University (Netter) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thanks for all the replies. I kinda of have a better idea now (hopefully). How is the weather in October there?

Not exceptionally cold. A light jacket will suffice. October is usually pretty nice.

I'm from CT as well and I've flown out of Bradley, LGA, and JFK and have to agree with going flying into Bradley. Getting in and out of NYC to get to JFK can be a nightmare it's probably the last thing you want to have worry about before and after your interview. You can get pretty good flights through Southwest to Bradley, although you may have to deal with a layover if you're not flying out of a major city. Rent a car and enjoy the autumn to North Haven. It will save you a lot of stress in the end.

Just checked out combat gent, they have good stuff. But how on earth do I buy a suit online without trying out fit first. I live in CT any modern suit stores around here? I want the jacket to be shorter but like express suits are like freaking crop tops. Their pants are way too slim. Any suggestions

Go to Nordstroms and they have a tailer. Nordstroms Rack is their sale store, so look that up.

Joseph A Bank. Just wait for a sale, or look at their clearance. You can find a good deal and their alterations dont cost much

Added this school pretty late...submitted secondary today! LizzyM ~ 70
Also, I know this school is primary care focused, but I talked about Emergency Medicine as being what I envision doing...auto reject? haha.

interviewed here friday, everything is super nice, high tech and brand new. the school felt rich. each of us interviewed 1 on 1 with different people and the questions were pretty standard/what you'd expect.

Awesome! Yea, I felt the same. Did they tell you guys anything about when decisions come out? They told us mid October but that wait is wayy too long for me haha.

Yes, they said it would be sometime not too long after October 15th. As @Easonred57 said, they are not allowed to send out decisions before October 15th.

For those of you who have received II's, can you share with us what your stats are? (URM? ED? OOS/IS? gpa and mcat, or LizzyM). I'm doubting myself and my stats big time. Anyone with 29 MCAT applying (to here or to anywhere else)? Thanks!

Complete a month before you and nothing still...
Don't be surprised, 10 days is nothing.
youre right. I submitted over a month ago but was waiting on a LOR to be complete : |

Anyone know what a person should do if they repeated a pre-req?
Relist it twice or just the most recent grade?

I think listing both is appropriate, but you should call them tomorrow and ask.

Not URM or ED; OOS (VA)
Undergrad cGPA = 3.5, sGPA = 3.2
SMP GPA = 3.8
MCAT = 30 (8/10/12)

Complete 07/15, II 07/20, and interviewed 08/14.
I definitely felt like an underdog at my interview, but our MCATs are similar, so keep the faith 🙂

For those who interviewed already, did you bring anything with you on the interview day? Also, thanks for doing the interview feedback! It's really helpful but worried about those ethical questions. Anyways, I'll be sure to contribute after mine.

I didn't bring anything special. Just my driver's license, tissues, and other things that I usually carry around.

As far as the ethical questions, don't be worried! It was very laid back.

I also just brought the usual things I carry with me (phone, wallet, etc.). I personally didn't receive any ethical questions that I can remember, but it seems like some others did; either way, the interview day is definitely relaxed so I wouldn't worry.

My apologies in advance because I know this has been brought up, but were there any conclusions drawn about how questions posed in a group setting affected your overall interview? Has everyone experienced this?

But yeah, after speaking with Dr. Ellison, he does not strike me as the kind of person to take secret notes on people and he definitely isn't trying to trip people up (in the "group interview" people had to raise their hands to speak- so you aren't even going to be caught by surprise).

The school is a maze, but fancy and pretty. And they have a lot of resources available to the students, so enjoy!
You had to raise your hands at yours? At mine, we all went around the table.

so when do i get rejected from here because Ive been complete since early July....

Nah, I wrote about emergency medicine as well only because it's the easiest place to get clinical experience. I just said I liked it, but am open to new fields as well. And said that I don't have the experience to make that decision yet.

And I got an II yesterday.

3.0 undergrad, 3.8 master's (done at tulane), 27 and 508 (77th percentile), URM, OOS
application complete on 8/29

I guess a lot of people applying here are interested in EM as well 🙂

Complete today 9/15.
3.96sGPA/cGPA and 509 MCAT

Hoping to get some love from Quinnipiac!

i interviewed with a 4.o and 28 mcat, but i just got my retake score of 512 so that should help a ton when it comes to the decision. OOS. just apply and dont look back.

I am sure this has already been discussed here in the past but I shall ask it again anyway.

Do we know anything about third and fourth year exam performances yet ? How promising does the school look statistically speaking? How are current students doing with their exams, do they feel prepared in general?

Thanks!

hey guys, sorry if i missed this on the interview feedback page - were the 2 one-on-one interviews with faculty members? if so, what kind? (purely a researcher, physician, etc.)

It runs the gamut. I interviewed with a faculty member from the occupational therapy program as well as a faculty member from the medical program. I'm not sure if anyone interviewed with a physician or anyone else from the community, but they really do try to bring in faculty from other programs since they emphasize interprofessionalism in their curriculum.

I had a faculty member who teaches a course in pre-clinical years and a member of the admissions staff.

I had one interview with a faculty member and one interview with a physician from one of the places where students do clerkships.
