2015-2016 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
When you guys say you were complete at a specific date, is it the date you were actually complete or the date on which you got the complete email?

I was done Aug. 21 but got the email Sep. 14 - I'm just so tired of waiting to hear anything back.

rejected today. complete 10/21. oh well. i guess this school wasnt for me. good luck to everyone else.

Anything you think that the school could improve upon during the interview day?
Not really - I think the key is making it as low stress as possible and they did a good job of that. I was in the afternoon group, so it would have been nice if we got some food before starting our days rather than at the end. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it.

I just realized that they have a biochem requirement on their website but I never took it and still got an II? Does this mean I have to take it in spring or something? I graduated back in 2014 and took the old MCAT so I don't know if that affects anything.

Read back a few pages and you'll find our discussion about it.

What is the interview day like? Is there a standard interview in addition to the MMI? The interview day is 4.5 hours long and the MMI should take less than an hour.

Tour and student panel each for about an hour.

I was originally supposed to interview later but managed to snag the 11/16 interview date yesterday, so I haven't had the chance to receive the additional e-mail with the details. If anyone can PM me the itinerary, it would be much appreciated!

Itinerary will be provided prior to the start of the process. If you don't ever receive that email, just be sure to show up at the right address 15-20 minutes before scheduled start time.

When we're in the mmi rooms we don't have copy of the prompt right? We have to go based off memory and some notes? (I remember reading Rosy does allow us to take notes outside the room..?) Could someone please clarify this

They will give you all of the instructions prior to the interview portion. You can take notes.

Any hope of decisions going out today? Or not, because it's an interview day?

In any case, good luck to everyone interviewing!

I think somewhere else in the thread someone said they were told 11/20 when they called recently. I guess we will see how accurate that is in 4 days.

For those of us done with the interviews that are eager to find out what happens post-interview, see post #897.

I think they mentioned at the latest it would be 11/20. But knowing how this has worked out so far I would not expect anything before 11/20.

Her exact words ate "we're still working on it but will try to get them out by 11/20 at the latest." So even then I guess there are no guarantees. But mentioning a specific date makes me feel a little better.

Just wanted to give you guys some advice post interview. Few will be admitted. Few will be rejected. Many will be waitlisted. It's because it's so early in the cycle. If you haven't heard back, it's not that they forgot about you. Just remain productive and try not to think about it as it is no longer in your hands.

Does anyone know if this is similar to last year? I don't see the point in waitlisting so many upfront because "it's so early in the cycle". Many other medical schools have no problem accepting students "early" in the process and they do it on October 15th not mid-November. Some people need to make decision early and would rather have a definitive answer rather than be put on a waitlist with 700 other people. I would also guess that this would hurt those who interviewed early in the cycle.

Honestly it's hard to say. It seems like last year in the first large wave of decisions, which happened on Oct 29th about 9 weeks after the first interview, there were a ton of acceptances. I think only one person was put on "hold" (and then ultimately accepted) and one was outright rejected. But then again, it's very possible (and probable) that people don't exactly clamor to SDN to share news that is bad and that there is bias there.

I'd like to think that RFUMS is like most other medical schools in that rolling admissions favors those who interview earlier. It's also probably an advantage to interview and get a decision before the wave of BMS students start interviewing in the winter. Pure speculation/wishful thinking!

Just crossed10 weeks since being marked complete.... no response. Anyone in the same boat?

For those who have been waiting for a long time post interview, this is the email response I got!
We are really close! Keep the faith!
" The admissions committee is working diligently to provide candidates with admissions decisions, although they have encountered a delay in this effort. Please await a decision via email shortly. "

Interviewed today! Overall, the MMI wasn't too bad. I probably rambled a little/did average for about some stations but did really well on others so I'm a bit nervous for the results.

withdrew from my II last week. good luck everyone going forward!

Same.. I wonder if we met haha

What did you think of the school? I liked it more than I expected to

That's funny although I doubt it considering that 48 applicants interviewed today haha Definitely liked it a lot more than I thought I would considering some of the negative opinions on sdn. Especially with all the recreational rooms! Overall, I would be happy to attend RFU if accepted.

P.S. the admissions councilor (???) said that we would be admitted based on the interviews but he made it seem like "hey you all got an interview, you all have a chance to become accepted." Although he said that, I have heard that our interview score goes into our admissions file and is re-reviewed by the adcoms, which is possibly why it's taking so long for decisions to come out.

Rejected pre-interview

Canadian applicant
3.8 GPA 514 MCAT

Good luck to everyone in the running and to those waiting for post-interview decisions!

Rejected post-secondary. Good luck to everyone else in the cycle.

I'm so sorry to hear about all the recent rejections. They mostly looked like OOS/Canadian applicants.

Have any IS applicants been rejected or are you guys just waiting in silence?

Thanks @tunicaexterna

I wish you the best of luck! I'm IS, but pretty late in completing my file here (it's a long story). So, I was curious as to what kind of response I could expect this late in the cycle.

Has anyone called admissions lately to ask about when they expect to hand out some decisions? :poke:

My theory is they push it back one day for each call. We're probably looking at March or April by now.

I think the date people have been throwing around is Nov. 20th...will be rooting for you all on Friday!
