2015-2016 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Placed on the alternate list this morning. OOS, LizzyM 69. In the e-mail they stated that the list is unranked. I find it hard to believe that they re-visit hundreds of applications every time someone withdraws an acceptance... We could seriously be strung along until the first week of class without any updates? Seems cruel even for med school applications.

Accepted, interviewed in October. Really liked the MMI format, because compared to traditional interviews it allows you to showcase your intellectual horsepower as opposed to showing how nice a person you are and how enthusiastic you are about the school.

Anyone know when interviews are done and when they might start to pull off of the alternate list?

Historically their interview season has gone pretty long (April), but the alternate list email made it sound like it was more of a fluid thing and that people could be called up to the majors at any time. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part though!

Is anyone having trouble with that link in the acceptance email? To accept/decline acceptance? It keeps giving me an error.

Any Sept interviewees still waiting for decision? (On hold status)

It seems kind of strange that they would continuously pull people off of the alternate list while they're still interviewing candidates, but I got the same impression from the e-mail.

This was in 2013, so take this as you will, but it was an email with the subject saying, "Chicago Medical School Application Complete" that said, "We are excited to inform you that your application to the Chicago Medical School is complete and is entering primary screening." I don't know what it meant but it existed. Make sense?
Ah I see! Thanks for clarifying.

Anyone planning on going to the event in Jan? Trying to decide if it's worth it to make the trip for the weekend.

Is this for an open house? I went to the one in October and I can tell you about it if you want

The event in January is an Accepted Students Day. The day is organized into tours, student panels, a "demo" lecture, and a lab demonstration. There is also optional student housing tours and financial aid presentations.

Congrats to everyone with acceptances! I will be interviewing here pretty soon and wanted to ask those that already interviewed if there is a rest station at all during the MMI..also, can anyone comment on the post-interview acceptance rate here? It seems like they waitlist a lot of people and pull them out as the cycle continues

Ahh ok that sounds EXACTLY like open house day

No rest stations! And you're right, few accepted, many waitlisted or rejected. But the waitlist should yield acceptances. Or so I'm hoping!

I am definitely hoping the same in case of a waitlist! From MSAR though, last year they interviewed 599 people and 190 people matriculated. I am definitely assuming that more than 190 acceptances were sent out lol

Just so you know, acceptances offered includes waitlisted people who were eventually accepted. Hope is alive and well my fellow waitlistees!!!

During interview day, admissions told us they are interviewing more candidates this year (closer to 1,000).

Anyone care to offer some more opinions on the interview? I found a few thoughts scattered throughout the thread but was hoping to hear some more opinions/comments... In particular because I'm starting to feel I won't be able to run through as many practice scenarios as I had hoped
Google SDN or student doctor network interviews. They have a site where people list the questions they were asked/how they felt etc.

I will put this story here on a brand new account so you can bookmark it and refer back whenever you are having a meltdown about dates and times. I was a non-trad student, LizzyM 65, who did research and work before coming back to school. You can PM me for the whole sob story or for tips on how to love Pathology (hint: practice problems). This is the story of my RFUMS acceptance, as told by my gmail inbox:
  • Initial AMCAS Application: 6/23/2013 (the year the internet broke the AAMC)
  • Invited to Submit Supplemental Application: 7/29/2013
  • Supplemental Received: 8/11/2013
  • Supplemental Complete: 8/15/2013
  • Primary Screening Complete: 11/16/2013
  • Interview Offered: 12/20/2013
  • Interview Complete: 1/24/2014
  • Waitlist Notification: 5/14/2014 (10:31AM)
  • Initial AMCAS Re-Application: 6/4/2014
  • Acceptance Off Waitlist: 6/6/2014 (11:28 AM)
  • Plane to Hawai'i with me on it: 6/7/2014 (~9:00AM) - Because I planned the trip as a reward for reapplying after a failed cycle
  • First day of school: ~8/1/2014

Take away: I got into RFUMS off of the waitlist two days after reapplying to AMCAS and almost a full year after submitting my primary AMCAS application. Look at these numbers every now and then and reassure yourself. It sucks So Much to be waiting like that. All you can do is keep yourself busy. Take classes to boost your GPA, brush up on ECs, and do something with your time so if you have to reapply, you didn't just waste a year spinning in a circle. I also don't recommend attempting to do your financial aid stuff on a beach on Hawai'i because the reception is terrible.

Your experience is very encouraging! Thanks for sharing.

For those who were rejected...
Just called admissions about post-interview feedback/file review, was told to email the admissions group. Will let you guys know if they are willing to provide any... >.<

Do they accept post-interview updates? Currently waitlisted.
"Please note we cannot accept any additional information or materials for your file, unless it concerns an Institutional Action, Felony, Misdemeanor or Military Discharge"

Just confirmed they don't "keep reasons for why we don't accept applicants".. So, I guess we'll never know why we are rejected.m

anyone know how many IIs have been given out or remain?
I don't know if anyone knows for sure, but they are interviewing ~1,000 candidates this year so it is safe to say there are probably many invites still remaining! In previous years they have interviewed as late as April.

1000 interviews? Really? According to MSAR that's 400 more than last year. Are they increasing class size?
