2015-2016 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
But yeah, my understanding is that they revisit applications every week. If you were put on the alt list its bc they liked you. Just remember that, and being positive really helps. I know it's hard as the months keep rolling on, but you guys are SO close now

I appreciate your optimism 🙂last year I interviewed 1/14, was placed on alternate list 2/3, and then didn't hear anything until I was rejected on 8/26 (which actually was 2 days after I received the secondary for this cycle). Was really grateful and excited to be interviewed again this cycle but being on the alt list again gives me mixed feelings. But I also have other acceptances so that's probably contributing to it. We'll see what happens!

Every week? Hmm, when I interviewed, they said that the committee only meets once a month!

So I got my II in December, and the actual date is in March. I applied through AMCAS in the summer so my grades are up till Junior year. Since last semester, my GPA has dropped slightly.

In the MSAR, do the stats include only the grades up until the applicant applies, or do they include the entire undergraduate transcript? Will Rosalind request a transcript upgrade after my interview, or will they only look at what's on my AMCAS academic wise?
Most matriculants come off the alternate list at this school. Keep the hope up guys!!

Edit: I was one of them, and they just awarded me a scholarship to entice me! Hope is alive and well, trust that!
Did you already submit your fafsa? Or are scholarships offered before you complete your fafsa?

I did submit FAFSA 2 days before the email. However on Second Look day, we were told scholarships are primarily merit-based.

Anyone else receive an email with scholarship info? I just received an email from Financial Services and got really excited only to find out the email simply had links to info on financial aid and cost of attendance.

do you mind sharing ur stats?

Are all interview slots at CMS booked for this cycle? Is the only way to being interviewed now is to be called from the interview waitlist?

I don't think that is the only way. But they definitely have a lot of people on the interview waitlist and the the post-interview alternate list which they pull from to accept.

" Because the admissions process is rolling, we cannot guarantee a time frame for when you will receive a final decision. Please note that the Alternate list is not ranked. The Admissions Committee will continue to review your application regularly and may make a decision at any time, even up to the first week of class. You will be contacted immediately by an admissions officer if there are any decisions regarding your application."

What do they mean by the fact that the alternate list is not ranked? are they just randomly pulling people from it then? am I attempting to win the lottery at this point?

It just means the process of taking people off the list is in no pre-decided order, as is with a ranked list. Applications are re-reviewed and acceptances selected by comparing the pool of apps at any given time. The committee meets frequently (more than once a month).

I sent in an LOI, will they consider it or will it rot in their inbox?

I hate to say that it will *probably* rot. The sheer volume of letters they get is staggering, and they already have a pretty good clue which matriculants they want and are going to get.

But.

I would totally have sent one anyway. Yours might be the letter that convinces them that your story is worth it. :luck::luck::luck::highfive::luck::luck::luck:

And it never hurts to show courtesy.

From my understanding, there are multiple people on their committee and each are assigned applicants, they meet to go over the applicants. So basically if your committee member presents you well, or re-presents your case to the group then you can get accepted at a different point in time beyond a formal numbered list.

They do not accept any letter of intention or updates.

So I got the alternate list for an II today. I've quickly read through a few pages, but there's obviously a lot of posts on this thread. Any thoughts on....

How many more interview days do they have?
Do they titrate out the interview invites, so even a late interview stil has a reasonable chance of acceptance?

-Flights from the west coast aren't cheap, but with no other acceptances (yet) they may be worth it.

For next years geeks who will read through this, I applied to CMS in October, 'wait listed for II on 2/16'. I only applied to 6 schools, and added CMS as a last minute. I'm interested in the school, but in retrospect, I would advise against this strategery.

How do you know that? At my interview day, we were told specifically that interview decisions take 4-6 weeks because the committee meets once a month.

For those who recently interviewed, did they mention at all how many seats are left, or did you get the impression that remaining interview are for the waitlist?

Historically, they haven't done this. People have been accepted straight up through April.

Do they do direct rejections post interview? It seems like everyone who hasn't been accepted on this thread have been waitlisted

No clue, but honestly, unless you already have an acceptance, you should be treating all waitlists as probable rejections. If you don't have an acceptance, start getting your job stuff together, start trying to improve your application, and get ready to not get in. Always have a backup plan.

At the end of my interview session, CMS expressed that they have offered acceptances up to and including the first day of class.

I agree, I do have another acceptance, but CMS is in state for me, so I was just curious how their alternate list has been panning out since I would attend if ultimately accepted.

Literally not possible that it is once per month. Batches of acceptances have been released every few weeks. Many of us were accepted within two weeks of the alternate list notification. Schools say 4-6 weeks so we will be prepared to be patient and not bother them as much.

Can I ask how you know that people have been accepted every few weeks? I've been closely stalking this thread and I haven't seen any people accepted off the wait list except that first batch that was at the end of December/early January? I definitely could have missed it tho...

I'm hoping that there will be a lot more movement after/around traffic day...

i saw some people rejected directly after interview on this thread

Just in case anyone was wondering. I sent in an LOI after being put on the alternate list and just received this email in response (as expected):

"Good morning:

Thank you for your email. Please note, we cannot accept any additional information or materials unless it includes Institutional Action, Felony, Misdemeanor or Military Discharge explanations. Your application remain on the Alternate List. We cannot guarantee a time frame for when you will receive a final decision. Please note that the Alternate list is not ranked. The Admissions Committee will continue to review your application regularly and may make a decision at any time, even up to the first week of class.

Should you have any further questions, please contact us at [email protected]. For frequently asked questions, please visit our FAQ's page."

So its a no go on trying to break the rules. I probably just aggravated them and ruined my chances 🙁

Probably not. They don't seem like that.

That part really stings.... "hey we interviewed you in January but we might not contact you about a decision until 8 months later." Hoping we all hear back sooner rather than later.

That's how the game works!

Interview waitlist, does anyone know how often people are actually invited after getting on this?

Hi all, I haven't been following this thread very religiously but for those of you who have heard post-interview decisions, I was wondering how long it took for them to get back to you. On my interview day, they said 4-6 weeks, but I perused last year's thread and saw that a lot of people were getting decisions back a lot sooner, especially as it neared the end of the cycle.
