2015-2016 Tulane University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Worry about your own high hopes and less about everyone else's lol. We've all looked at MSAR and are aware of our chances, which is why we're so excited when we receive an II. Telling other people not to be excited when they receive great news doesn't make you helpful, it makes you out to be kind of nasty. Just my humble opinion 🙂

Well said 🙂

Complete 8/3

I CAN FEEL IT COMING TULANE

Thanks! But we're at about 45 days from my submission date
Ah snap! BUUUUT i think mine instantly went to 'under review,' so think of it that way?...

gah, in summary --> chin up!

I still don't know why tulane gave me a II
I'm with you. So glad I have it! but also questioning if the 'reject' and 'II' buttons are too close together and maybe they hit the wrong one 🤣
I know it's a good day when I didn't get rejected from anywhere

REJECTED just now. Submitted and complete 7/13. Had a feeling this was coming, oh well! Best of luck to the rest of you!

I as well have a spreadsheet of crazyness. I thought it was just because at work I'm a financial systems analyst, so I basically live with excel open at all times. But I guess it's just a premed thing! I will have to admit though, I am a data slut. Give me all your power pivot tables and vlookups!

got my II today. not sure how that happened.

stats just for ****s: 3.0 undergrad, 3.8 master's (done at tulane), 27 and 508 (77th percentile), URM, in state
application complete on 8/4, new mcat score came back on 8/18ish

keep ya head up, y'all. also, cafe du monde is a tourist trap. just sayin.

Speaking of spreadsheets, everyone needs to check out Trello. Upped my organizing game 1000%

So my pattern has been 2 IIs followed by one rejection. Just got my fourth II, so I'm expecting a rejection tomorrow :/

I just want the pain to be over.

You have 4 interview invites in August, and you're complaining... This website is toxic.
But this was the school I wanted an interview invite from the most! To be honest, I would trade in a rejection at all of my other schools for an II from here.

Complete sometime last week.

Also, I used to live in New Orleans and attended Tulane for part of my undergraduate and my father is a professor there (SOM) currently. So if anyone has questions about the city or anything I'd be more than happy to answer them.

Don't be an dingus.
Sorry (oh wait, no I'm not), but when I spent hundreds of hours trying to get an MCAT score in the 100th percentile, I'm not letting some prick call me "entitled" to want to be rewarded for my work. It's not like they pick people out of a hat. If people wanted to be in my place, then they should have worked as hard as I did to get there.

Lol you were the one just whining about having IIs just not from the school you wanted. Be happy and proud you have IIs and if you haven't been rejected from Tulane yet then there's still a chance. No need to be hostile.
I didn't realize I was the one who started flinging insults around. People started calling me entitled and an a$$hole before I said anything negative towards anyone.

Yeah, okay. Please do let me know if you get into Tulane so that I know to avoid New Orleans when searching for my next PCP.

I wasn't even whining in my original post. I stated that I was expecting a rejection (like MANY other people in this thread who have also received IIs from other places), and PolarBearMD got salty and started insulting me. Sounds like a personal problem.

I hope you choose anesthesiology or radiology. If you are this unkind on a premed forum, how will you be to patients who don't heed your advice?

Don't think PolarBearMD got salty. Pretty sure he/she was just calling you out on your not so humble bragging and sheer lack of humility and saying exactly what everyone was thinking but I'm gonna just sip my tea....

Oh yeah, I'm being called unkind, but no one says anything to the dude calling me an @sshole.

Literally, the only one who called you that was yourself...? But this needs to end. Was just trying to encourage you to be a little more humble, but clearly you have other issues you need to work through first.

Ok, first of all, 90% of the posts on this website are people humble bragging, or just straight up bragging. EVERY TIME someone says "I got an II," they are bragging. Not deliberately, but they are bragging nonetheless.

Second of all, I'm sorry, but I don't understand how wanting an II from my top choice school displays a "lack of humility." If wanting that makes you not humble, then 99% of applicants aren't humble.

Third of all, people here have been using all sorts of superstitions in casual conversation in all of these threads. "I had a dream that I blah blah blah, and I woke up, and blah blah blah!" This is just my weird little superstition. Obviously I'm not going to get IIs from 2/3 of the 21 schools I applied to.

SDN changes that word to "dingus." You can tell by the an. So yeah, someone did.

Maybe the people that would stick up for you are too busy trying to get their MCAT in the 100th percentile like you told them to....
Good. It would serve them well. No one here even knows who I am, so I really can't say I care if I come across as not humble. In real life, no one but my parents knows my MCAT score or the interviews I received, and only my best friends even know I'm applying to medical school.

I know who I am, and it's not who you people are painting me to be. So I'm not too concerned at a lack of people defending me.
