2015-2016 Tulane University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Are you waiting for your decision to come out too? Because I am and I'm pretty much losing whatever precious little sanity I had managed to retain up to this point. I now find myself just staring at my inbox, oblivious to anything else in time and space, for stretches of time vaster than the glorious cosmos themselves. Then, I take a five minute bathroom break, hit refresh, and begin anew.

nailed it. This wait is killing me. I know they gave us that form about how they decide post-interview but I'm still confused why some people after my interview date were accepted. probably nothing to worry about but great food for anxiety.

Applications are reviewed by four people from the committee. Different people review at different speeds. Hang in there everyone!

In theory, that's reassuring. But after 13 weeks....

I feel your pain. Today marks exactly 14 weeks since being marked complete and I haven't heard a word

Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like silence for Tulane is very very golden. I'm only at 8 weeks complete but I do a little fist pump every day that passes that I haven't gotten the axe. (Though that doesn't stop me from then immediately thinking that tomorrow will be the day...)

Weird, right? You think, for the first 8 or 10 weeks at least, that it must be a positive indicator that others have been rejected but you're still hanging in. But now, who knows?

Holy crapsnacks, accepted almost exactly one hour ago by e-mail and could not be more thrilled about this school!!! Been going full fist pump for like an hour now with no plans of stopping.

Interviewed 10/2. Congrats to all you others who heard similar news, and good luck to those still waiting for any news. Hang in there!

Hey congrats! I interviewed the same day as you! Really good vibes the whole day.

Congrats to you too! Definitely was a great day, and our interview group was full of such nice people. In the beginning I was so nervous because it seemed like everyone there was so much more accomplished than I was, but everyone was so kind, really enjoyed it.

I just got accepted into another school with a half scholarship, so I'm debating about coming to Tulane for a December interview. What kind of scholarships does Tulane give out?

I have no real knowledge of the scholarships they give out, but their financial aid presentation seemed to kind of suggest that they don't give out a ton.

Accepted from the 10/2 interview date also! Pretty sure I know who this is, congrats man it's well deserved. Maybe I'll see you down in NO in the fall.
That would be awesome!! Congrats to you too!!

Let me know if you still feel that way in 6 weeks 😛

Do you mind sharing what school offered the scholarship?

Also what are your stats??

I had a buddy just accepted here. I love my current school, but I'm really happy for him to be at Tulane. I was accepted at Tulane and I LOVED IT there, but ultimately decided not to attend.

I read on the website (but cant find it now, of course) that they give out one full tuition scholarship and one half. I think there were 7 $20k scholarships, and a handful of $5(ish?)k.
This is the finical aid website. There is a .ppt on there, but it isn't the one I read a few weeks ago. It might be useful though.

Accepted!!!!! :highfive: Interviewed 9/22

I thought I bombed this interview for sure

Unrelated....but did you read The Knife and Gun Club? I recently heard about it from a retiring physician. It looks great, and I'm waiting on an inter-library loan. It's a difficult book to track down.

Actually no, I've never read it. I am waiting for a backorder copy from amazon though. My dad was a trauma surgeon in Brooklyn in the early 80's and his team called themselves The Knife and Gun Club, so thats where I got the name. Let me know if you like the book!

Can anyone who has interviewed or any current students comment on this: Do most 3rd/4th year rotations happen outside of New Orleans or do most students have the opportunity to stay in New Orleans for rotations?

Almost all rotations are either at Tulane hospital/clinics and the new University Hospital. The only rotation outside NoLa is family med. Although some students have the option to do their 3rd and 4th years in Baton Rouge if they want. When I interviewed they weren't sure if they were going to continue with that program. From what I understood everything was kinda subject to change depending on how University hospital turns out

Anyone been rejected here recently? Complete 8/26 and a whole lot of nothing +pity+
+1 complete a few days before you. Someone wrote a few days ago about a rejection after being complete 8/25. I don't know what to make of the silence at this point!

Maybe we're in the "come back later" group! I guess we'll find out soon enough..

Thank you so much. I knew they had said something about it on interview day and I wasn't sure.

Just received an email I was placed in the "Acceptance Range", which seems like a glorified waitlist. LizzyM: 74, interviewed early October, complete mid-July if you guys are curious.
