hi everyone, so i JUST recently decided to send my primary app to this school. i was reading the first few pages of this thread, and wanted to be clear about a few things: so there are no secondary? does this mean i am essentially complete for this school after sending in my primary, or is there still something to fill out which they will email despite there being no essay questions to answer? Hope that sounds clear, thanks so much 🙂

Yup, no secondary. You only do a secondary if they invite you for an interview which will come via email.

Ugh. It seems I've survived another round of rejections. Been complete 3 months..

I completely agree! I haven't gotten a decision yet but no matter what I won't be attending IU, both because of the mandatory lectures and the overall lack of enthusiasm I felt during interview day from the faculty, staff and students.

The big downside for me with IU is the fact that they have so many campuses and you can't control where you get placed. You can list your preferences, but in the end you could pull the trigger to go there and get placed at a campus you really don't want to be at. Seems like a pretty big risk, one that might make people with multiple acceptances choose elsewhere

I'm really excited about my II but this is a huge downside. Do you know how many hours a week they are in lecture? Is it 9-5? I've only heard of mandatory lectures at newer DO schools with poor reputations and Caribbean schools

Does anyone know the likelihood of getting an interview date if you have to reschedule?

They have class in the afternoon 1-5. The reason lecture is mandatory is because of the new curriculum. They are moving away from simple "lecture-based classes" and implementing a new style of small-group style learning which you have to be present for in order to get anything out of.

I got one a month later after rescheduling! It might be different later in the cycle but they give out a lot of interviews so someone's bound to withdraw or reschedule an II and open up another spot for you
 
Rejected Pre-II just now. Best of luck to those of you still waiting for IIs and to those of you with upcoming interviews!

How long did it take after paying and filling out the graduate online application to get a specific interview date??
 
I selected a preferred campus on the portal (South Bend) just so I can go back to it later to change it. I just went on the portal again and it looks like my preferred campus location is locked in? Has this happened to anyone else

Happened to me as well.
 
Hi! I got accepted for an interview, and the email said to specify location for it and complete the graduate application. Does that mean I just have to select a location on the portal? When do possible interview dates pop up?

Yup you can specify which location on the portal and then they will email you with a date a couple weeks before the interview.

By the way, how do you get in with "IU Network Credentials"? Before my acceptance I just used my amcas ID and birthdate, but now when I put that in it redirects me to an accepted student portal where I am supposed to put in a passphrase? But I have never set one up so I am confused

I had to call to get my student ID number so I could create a new account!! Apparently I already had a student ID from when I applied here for undergrad.

I was wondering, any other accepted students still not have a green checkmark next to the Accepted Reply Form?

Edit: Just kidding. Checked it just now and there was a green check mark. For reference if anyone would like to know I mailed it out on October 21st.
 
Does anyone know if you have to have all green checkmarks before they schedule you? They should have all my things except for one but nothing is checked yet. When I emailed today, she said it would take 4-6 weeks to process so I was wondering if that's why I haven't received a date yet but on the site it says the forms are due 30 days following your interview.
 
Hmmm so I was complete 8/15 and it seems people around my date have heard (both reject/II).... Good or bad?
 
Just got an II and saw I still need a general chemistry credit (3 lecture, 1 lab hours) according to the portal.

I already graduated and during undergrad I used my gen chem AP credit to skip it. I took 2 semesters of Orgo with lab and 2 semesters of biochem (no lab).

What do I do? It seems weird to go back and randomly sign up for a community college gen chem class.
 
Does anyone know how strict they are with the LOR requirements?

I had a quick question on the secondary for those that have been through the process. I am currently filling the secondary out, and I am at the section asking about legal trouble. I have had a couple speeding tickets, which are classified as a minor misdemeanor in my state, to my understanding. Just curious if I should say yes to the question asking if I had been charged with or convicted of a crime that has not been expunged by the court? The most recent was a little over a year ago, so I would assume it would still show up on a background check. Thanks all.

I wouldn't stress too much about that. I don't believe medical schools care too much about a few traffic tickets and care more about more serious legal trouble (DUI, felonies)

So you would opt for answering "No" to the question asking if I have been charged with a crime? And I am not really worried about the speeding tickets, I just want to fill this thing out perfectly. Thanks for the response though.

So i messaged admissions from my portal about a similar situation. I am just missing one gen chem lab credit though, because my school does not offer it. And that seemed to be the case for a lot of people. But they told me that I have to acquire the credit, even if it means taking it elsewhere.

I hope that helps a little... They weren't much more specific than that.

Yeah I checked the "no" box especially since every state has different guidelines as to what is a considered a crime and what isn't.

Same here. They said I could use two science and one from work.

I would call/ email the admissions to see what they say. There's too much gray area and that's too serious of a question to guess at.

No, but I had all of my letters in by the first day we could submit our primary apps so when I did eventually get an II from IU there were already green checks beside my letters of rec
