2016-2017 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got the "8-10 weeks" completed email on 8/10, and today is exactly 11 weeks from that day. Should I email them to ask or do something? I'm scared that they forget me 🙁
Today is exactly 11 weeks since the 8-10 week email for me too. Still nothing. I didn't even get the "additional 4-6 weeks" email yet so I'm hoping this is a good sign?

Congrats!! Mind sharing when you got your completion email? (P.S. I love your username 😛)

I got the complete email on 8/25 and it said they would let me know in 4-6 weeks and it's obviously been longer than that so take that as you will...

And thanks I like it too! Haha

As someone who has driven in snow less than the fingers I have on my two hands... are the roads kept well plowed in the city?

I don't think it's considered early interview season anymore. I know they do interview a ton of people, but they likely accept a lot too, being a large class and mid tier school.

Rosalind Franklin isn't in the city. It's about 30 miles north. But in the Midwest, roads are kept clear unless it's the middle of a blizzard or you're out in the sticks.

Also interviewed 10/7 and was told 4-6 weeks

Hmm, maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Still fresh in my mind as it was my most recent interview. I'm not holding my breath with the 4-6 week timeline however based on other timelines RFU has provided (i.e. completion emails) and the sheer volume of apps they are processing

They got to the first group at the beginning of the fifth week so n=1 we get it back during the given timeline

Anyone know the post-interview acceptance %? It looks like matriculation % is about 1/3 for OOS....

I really want to and this school is on the tippy-top of my list, but if my dream IS school shows me some love, it will be hard to pass up that opportunity.
Can I ask you what makes this school be on the top of your list? I don't know much about this school and would like to know. Thanks

This is just my opinion and somethings could be misconceptions, so correct me if I am wrong.

1) I like how candid the school is about what happened in the past.
2) Current students were helpful during the interview and seemed happy to be there. Before the interview, there were two students (MS1 and MS3) who addressed our questions. I must've asked around 20 or so questions and both of them didn't get annoyed and were frank about their experience at CMS. I interviewed at 4 schools. At the first school, I got the impression that majority of people that I had the chance to speak to were there because they didn't have any other options. I also got the same impression from the students at the second school. I was dying to leave the third school. They had the biggest bunch of conceited d-bags that acted like they were God's gift. In other words, out of the four schools, I could see myself being the happiest at CMS.
3) The school is modern. Glass walls instead of cheap plaster. Smart classrooms. Lots of opened spaces. I might be nitpicking, but spending two years in a place that looks like a prison will make me miserable.
4) The class is broken up into four houses, each house with its own advisor. My undergrad institution had 30k people and it was literally impossible to meet with an advisor without booking an appointment few months in advance.
5) Campus housing and different types of housing. You can get a one bedroom apartment with your own kitchen, living room, bedroom. I can't see myself being comfortable with having to share my living quarters with someone else.
6) Opportunity to switch from the MD program to the MD/Phd program after MS1.
7) Older students help you to succeed.
8) Lectures are recorded and attendance is not mandatory. Even though I'll probably attend every lecture, but if I don't, I don't need for the school to be up my a.. about it.
9) Fixed tuition for four years.
There are probably more reasons, but I am drawing blanks at the moment.
