No. If you have an II already then yes. It's saying that if you have an II you can attend the interview whenever you want Sept-March

No, they aren't. 🙁

- I’m going to be in the Boston area soon. Will Tufts review my file right away, so if I get an interview at Tufts I can schedule it during my upcoming trip?
We review applications (and select applicants for interview) in the order in which the applications become complete. Our interview season extends from September until March, and an invitation to interview with us is good from the time it is issued until the end of our interview season. We extend open-ended invitations to help applicants consolidate a visit to Tufts with visits to other schools in our area. Unfortunately, we cannot extend an applicant any special or priority treatment due to travel plans.

So, the way this is phrased, it appears that if your complete date has been passed and other II's extended to people complete after you, that a rejection is coming eventually?

Or do they sometimes return to people from earlier on?

Not trying to spark paranoia, just found the wording intriguing.

I'm fairly certain they can put you on hold (unofficially or otherwise) and then offer an II later on down the line. In last year's thread someone complete the first week of August got an II in early January. I was complete 7/28 and haven't heard a peep, so I'm guessing I was passed over.

I know. Cycle is getting to us, making us jump on any slight status change (or error message). You should have seen Baylor's page about a month ago. People freaking out over a bullet point, or lack there of.
Only SDN...

Doesn't look like there have been any August complete II's in here? Or MaineTrack?

Anybody who interviewed for Maine track happen to notice when decisions go out? I forgot to ask. I'm the past years it's been first week of november

My understanding is that it mirrors the regular process. The committee meets around the 25th of each month to make decisions then release them in the first two weeks of the following month.

Yeah I thought so too, but I was hoping that the first two groups would find out on the 15th/17th (whatever the official first day of decisions is).

@TobogganMantis is correct.

Don't freak out over feeling "passed over". Tufts gets 10,000+ applications, they have to screen them all and have available interview slots to invite you to. Some of you July people will probably be getting a II, they just haven't opened up the interview slots for those dates yet so they haven't sent out the email yet. If you haven't heard anything, consider it good news. If they don't want you, you'll get a rejection.

As for ITA emails, don't waste your time. They know that most of the time you're just trying to push your app through.

Do they send out rejection emails throughout the cycle? Do you know if they've sent some already?

Hey anyone know what the deal is with adding a combined degree after your MD app has been complete for a while? All of Tufts pages basically say, go ahead! Add combined degrees anytime! Which is interesting... But anyway, anyone know if it would slow down any progress the MD app has already made going down the pipeline? Like, would it pull it out of the pile and put it in a different pile starting back at square 1?

Call the school to find out?

They said during interview day that you can submit a combined degree app at anytime. They will consider you for MD acceptance before they consider your combined degree. It will not slow down or have any bearing on your review process. They won't look at your combined degree app until you're accepted.

Thank you! That was exactly the answer I was looking for! <3

And now for my follow-up question....

Anyone have any insight into what they're looking for with this MD-PhD question?

If you have already completed your bachelor's degree, list in resume format your full-time activities since graduation. If you have not yet graduated, please list any activities or work experiences that you feel are relevant to your interest in our MD/PhD program (3000 characters or less).

First of all, "full-time"? Like if you worked part-time they don't wanna hear it...?
Second, I already listed all of this in excruciating detail on the primary... do they not read that or something?
Third, what is an "activity"? Is a conference an activity? A research publication?

Basically, I worked four years post-graduation at a biomedical research lab doing lots of things, getting research experience, clinical experience, presenting at international conferences, publishing papers, etc. Two years of that was full-time; the other two years was more like half-time for complicated reasons.

Any advice, guys?

I am not a MD-PhD expert...but I did not interpret the question in the same way that you did. It sounds to me like they want to know what continuous activities you do during your waking hours, whether that be work, research or study. I'd contact admissions to clarify.

Yeah, I considered that interpretation too. It's just that then I truly don't know what qualifies as an "activity"...
If no one here knows I guess I'll try calling tomorrow.

Has anybody here done the student hosting program? The student hosting coordinator said she'd get back to me but she still hasn't and my interview is on Tuesday...

The first year class has an exam Tuesday, so many student hosts may not be taking interviewees. I would follow up with them today to see if more are available. If it ends up not working, there is a great hostel 2 blocks from Tufts, HI Boston Hostel, that is usually around $60-70 for the night. You can also do Priceline "Name Your Price" for the Theatre District, Back Bay, Downtown & Beacon Hill and usually get a 4-5 Star Room for around $110 and you'll be no more than a 15-20 minute walk from Tufts. Hopefully it all works out for you.

so does anyone know when admissions decisions will come out? From the last several years it's been on Oct 15. That's today - yikes. But it's Saturday.

Accepted folks: are you Regular track? Holding out a tiny hope that we Maine trackers will find out today despite past years trends.

May I ask when you were complete? I'm trying to get a sense of where Maine Track is in reviewing applications. Seems like Tufts in general is only really in July apps thus far.
