I'm interviewing this upcoming Friday, but I grew up in Baton Rouge and go to NOLA fairly often.
Definitely check out Jackson Square, Cafe du monde, French Quarter, etc.
Jackson Square has the big beautiful cathedral, and Cafe du monde is next to it.
Make sure you go to Pat O'Brien's in the Quarter, and go to the courtyard. They have a piano bar, and they're known for their drink that they made up called the Hurricane.
Also, you should definitely visit Uptown, specifically St. Charles and Magazine Street. That area is amazing and precious. So many cafes and hole in the wall places. It's a super nice area of town. When you go there, they have this really yummy speciality hot dog place called Dat Dog. Tell them to make you a chef's order I think? Basically, they surprise you with a fancy hot dog.
Also we have a super cool D-Day museum. I'm not a big one for museums, but I've always loved this one. You could probably spend about a day in there because of all the different exhibits.
If you can, do Sunday brunch.
Enjoy your time in NOLA!
