2016-2017 University of Texas HSC at Houston (McGovern) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
but it looked like the other 2 phases heard back already... damn...
Oh sorry. You probably meant housing. For that, I have no idea. I didn't even get accepted to mcgovern and I still got placed on the waitlist for housing.

For those accepted, do we know when we are supposed to receive a welcome packet in the mail?

I am not sure about a packet, but I just got my acceptance mail last night. It was just a sheet of paper that was almost identical to the email that we got on match day.

If I'm hoping to get off the waitlist, do I have to update TMDSAS with my fall semester grades or anything? I'm an OOS applicant.

I don't think it would hurt to send a letter of interest with your fall grades (or anything else important that is new)

Sure!

Congratulations, man! Are you planning on matriculating or are you considering another school? And do you have ties to Texas?

There's a chance my spot will be available soon. I'm visiting Houston one more time before I decide.

And about ties-- yes, I currently go to school in Texas.

Is McGovern your top choice? I'd bet there will be OOS spots opening up in the next month!

Yes, McGovern is my top choice, haha. I got into UTMB and I'll be going there, unless McGovern spots open up. 😉

Good luck with your Houston trip!

I got my login id today, did anyone else? and if so, would scholarships show up on that?

Is anyone else really anxious about waitlist or is it just me?
Considering that you've already been accepted somewhere, it's nonsensical for you to be so nervous. But as someone without an acceptance thus far, I'm just slowly waiting until the likely inevitable occurs.

no matter where you got accepted, if you are waiting to hear back from your dream school, it is totally acceptable to be nervous...

You can be nervous waiting for a response, but you shouldn't forget that you've already won at this admissions game. Getting into a dream school is just icing on the cake...

I would be nervous if the fact that you are planning and ready to go somewhere but know that if your dream school accept you those plans would change...

Not knowing if that will happen or not can make me nervous.

Good luck y'all!

Giving it one more week until I sign a lease elsewhere. 😕

Yes I do have one acceptance, so I know I am going somewhere. Its a mixture of uncertainty, inability to plan concrete plans, and feeling like my efforts were not good enough for my dream school that make me nervous. Good luck though and hope you hear back!
