I was also rejected on the portal today

I’m thinking that they’re slowly removing people from the list of possible last minute II recipients after a cancellation

But it's Friday so it's not likely that someone will cancel their Monday interview lol

Does anyone know where I can find Duke's match list? I found a list that states what fields people placed into, but I'm looking for what programs people placed into.

Anxiety goes up 400% when reevaluating my MMI performance

So true. One station had an interviewer that was more critical and confrontational, and I didn’t feel like I said anything right, or even coherent.
Me: “here’s my plan for resolving this problem.. blahblah”
Her: (looks very skeptical) “Uh huh. How do you expect to pay for that?”
Me: “ummmm.. fundraising?” :bang:

This question has already been answered by a Duke MS1 for a week now, as well as an applicant caller.
They’re ending the season earlier this year in an attempt to get decisions out earlier.

Sorry to crush any last minute hopes of getting a II, but the last interview is on Monday.

I called the office of admissions yesterday, and I was told that the last interview date is February 5th and all interview invites have been extended. It’s officially over.

When I was at Duke the other day, Dean Yee said that decisions will be made/distributed on Feb 22nd/23rd!

Wowza. This one's been a dream for a long time. Would love to have to opportunity to attend, and have been waiting for a minute to hear back (interviewed beginning of October). Am really glad that we will have answers by the end of this month.

Best of luck to everyone! Fingers crossed that all of us get in

Finally rejected here, pre-ii, via portal update.

Finally portal rejected - best of luck to everyone else.

Anyone else on the thread apply to PCLT? I am wondering if we will get decisions the same day as the regular MD applicants?

I applied! I believe that we will based on what was discussed at the end of my PCLT interview. (Faculty member mentioned hat decisions will be released at the same time as the MD track)

Excited about PCLT. No there's no other program like it and I will be so excited to get in and have classmates with the same passion that I have. Crossing fingers for the best but I am also realistic that Duke is by far the most competitive school I applied to.

Is there any indication how quickly Duke passes through their waitlist? My subscription to the MSAR ran out. I feel like it could go both ways - a lit of people passing it up for its non-traditional curriculum and undesirable location or everyone deciding to matriculate there because it is Duke.

looks like the latter - about 100 waitlist positions, about 10 acceptances from the waitlist...

omg we are so close to the end, it's all too real

MSAR said only 10 people came off of the waitlist last year out of 100-125 waitlist positions:

Actually, after consideration, I'm not sure how much I believe the MSAR for waitlist. I know my home institution (top 20) has a ton of waitlist movement and I recall it not being reported accurately on the MSAR. I have data saying they accept 262 people for a class size of 116, meaning 146 people chose other locations than Duke, presumably other top 10 schools or places where they have crazy scholarships. This means they have a ~44% yield. If 10 of those 116 people came off the waitlist, only ~40% of the original accepted cohort matriculated into Duke. For whatever reason, I feel a 40% yield is still waaay to high. My evidence for this is anecdotal, as I know my home institution's yield is much lower and it is a school of similar medical caliber. I'd bet a lot more than 10 people get in off the waitlist.

Here's a chart some wonderful person did of last cycle's yields at the top 20 schools. Since MSAR is released in April, I think the data we're seeing now is from 2 cycles back. I don't remember where I saw it, but I think somebody who dug through last year's threads said Duke's yield was higher than they expected so they didn't take anyone off the waitlist - I hope they adjust accordingly this year!

It depends on the year but it is correct that they usually hand out 200+ acceptances shooting for filled 115 spots. This is based on the assumption that not everyone is going to choose Duke. Some years there is waitlist movement, but in others there is less. The classes of 2017 and 2020 took no one from the waitlist (yielding a class size of 119 for 2020, the largest ever at Duke).

After the interview, does Duke do a holistic review of your application to determine the admission decision or is the decision just based off raw scores from your MMI performance?

Holistic of entire application, but your MMI performance is a part of that.

Do you remember having stations that were intentionally stressful when you interviewed? Eg. Continually questioning you on a topic (trying to get you to change your mind on your original answer).

The ethical problem solving stations were like that for me. I tried to maintain my position by responding to and refuting their opposing ideas/counter arguments bc one of the students from the social the night before the interview suggested to us that we try and not flip flop our responses and try to stick to and defend our stance well.

Well that makes me feel better because I don’t think I flip flopped, even though every fiber of my being told me to flip flop:diebanana:.

At one station my interviewer said it's good I didn't pick a different opinion stance or I would have burned down along with my answer... 🙂:whoa:
