2017-2018 Duke University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I doubt that. This is based on someone who said that on their interview the dean said they'd be released early
The deans have said that they’re hopefully aiming for decisions to be released on the 22nd/23rd, but this is tentative. Don’t be surprised if it does get pushed a little later. I know it’s a long wait, and I’ll try to placate you by telling you that you’re almost there.

I am so excited and terrified at the same time

All I'm saying is I'm not expecting it for the 22nd or 23rd. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they do but I'm not putting stock in those dates.

It is on 22nd/23rd fyi, someone I know just interviewed here (on last day) and confirmed that these are the dates...just keep your mind on other things and stay humble! Almost there 🙂

That's a week from thursday/friday, which technically makes it next week! :nailbiting::nailbiting: Time slows down as the date gets closer, though, doesn't it?

I keep feeling like I didn't put enough effort into my MMIs, like maybe I was too relaxed after having two previous rounds at other schools.. Does anyone ever feel like they did a great job at MMIs, though? I will be so happy if they put out decisions early - I have a house to sell, spouse needs to find a job in the new location, etc.. but I'm super chill about it. No pressure.

Good thing we hear back from Mayo sooner to keep our cortisol levels high 😉 I'm expecting the grief I feel when Mayo sends me that R will be softened by the new grief I feel when Duke sends that R!

hahahahaha no way - you will get into both and show us all up! But yeah, Mayo decisions tomorrow have me seriously on edge. I have no fingernails left. tmi?

The 2+2 decisions have been (supposedly) reported to not even be approved until late this week/sometime next week, so I doubt Mayo will be coming any time soon (I'd love it if they did!). I'm betting we hear back right around Duke's 'supposed' dates.

You just described my exact plan for the next two weeks/Rs

@MC_Infarction - Just wanna say thanks for being so active on this thread! You've been a tremendous resource, and the fact that you are doing this all on your own time is not lost on us.

No prob! Despite what the rumors would have you believe, you do still have a fair amount of free time as a med student. I have a very love-hate relationship w/ SDN - I think it can be a great resource, but it can also spread a lot of neuroticism and fear in students, so I try to combat this. I guess that my goal as a current student is to provide people with accurate and honest information, and my opinions (whenever they're warranted).

Well, you're killing it!

**** if md decisions are end of next week that means mstp decisions come out this fri

I panic every time I think about the MMI. Idk how some of you who interviewed in the beginning of the cycle have remained sane :help:
not going to lie, I interviewed earlyish in the cycle (october) and thought this was happening in two weeks- kinda wished I had stayed in blissful ignorance and not checked this thread to hear its this week 😵

I’m trying not to get worked up about it because they were pretty clear that they would TRY to get them out this week but it’s not a guarantee so I’m just trying not to think about it at this point.

Maybe I’ll go rewatch game of thrones so I have something else to be invested in this week. At least if I get rejected it’ll be dimmed by the deaths of all my favorite characters.

who says we've remained sane
+1; I know I haven't

It doesn't seem like MSTP decisions came out last week (at least no one on here was accepted, if they did come out). If they didn't come out, does that mean the MD decisions won't be until next week?

Why do we think MSTP decisions come out a week earlier? (Also were people claiming the 23rd MSTP or MD applicants?)

Y'all are killing me on this thread. I was already rejected from Duke (pre-II) and I'm still nervous waiting to hear what happens to everyone here!

You know you're my favorite poster on SDN of all time haha. I think it's really sweet you still keep tabs on us and are so caring about it - you're going to be an incredible doctor one day!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! And I'm cheering for you - after reading some of the "other" threads, I think Duke's might be one of the nicest of all.

Decisions will be released by the end of next week, according to the administrator.

Daw!!! For MSTP? But I guess it doesn't matter to wait a little while longer... Thank God I interviewed late in the cycle!

When and where did you hear about this? Just wondering

Yeah for MSTP. I emailed them, and got a response that there has been a delay and so decisions will be announced by the end of next week.

Question about the PCLT: If someone gets accepted to the PCLT, is it possible to decline the PCLT admission and only accept the regular MD admission?

When I interviewed for PCLT they said yes you can do that. But I'd assume it's awk because from last year's threads Dr. Sheline (director of PCLT) is the one making the calls for our acceptances

Great, thanks for this! Personally, I am torn. The PCLT curriculum is absolutely what I want to do for the next 4 years, but I cannot say for sure that I will still want to do primary care in 4 years (in other words, I afraid of the commitment). I know I could still do the PCLT and not end up going into primary care, but I would not want to do that because the directors are very passionate about this and I would rather give the spot to someone who knows now that they want to still be working in primary care 20 years down the road. I am like 95% sure I do, but I don't know till I get there, ya know!

So MD might still hear back this week.....
