2017-2018 Tulane University Application

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How long does this usually take for Tulane?

If you look earlier in this thread people would go from green checkmark to II or rejection in about 2-3 weeks. Now its green checkmark to rejection after 4-6 weeks or your hear nothing (silent hold)...

interviewing here next week! does anyone have any advice?

Rejected. LizzyM 71
Complete early August, had the green checkmark for ~1 month.

Which day in early August to be precise? (I was complete August 8th, green checkmark on 9/11, so I figure if I'm getting a rejection it will probably come in the first or second week of October.)

I just found out that I paid for the secondary in the beginning of August but didn't submit it. Just submitted it now...FVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Email admissions I'm sure they'll move you to the front of the line!

Jk admissions doesn't care about you but thanks for the $$$$!!!!

I'm worried that my chances are low because my interview is at the end of the cycle, in late February. I feel like they'll fill up most of the spots by then
We should just accept the fact that if we don't have an II at this school as of now, our chances at this school is little to none.

I have a friend in the last cycle who got their interview invite in late December, interviewed in Feb (during Mardi Gras week!) and was accepted + scholarship. You really never know, so just keep your spirits up and do your best in your interview!

Do you get an email once an interview decision is made or do I need to keep checking my portal?
I have a green checkmark at this point.

I haven't checked the application portal in a while (trying to keep myself sane) and I just looked and noticed I have a green checkmark... but no idea how long it's been that way! Application was complete 8/10....

Also applying for their MD/MPH program... if that matters...

When people say that they have a green check mark, are they referring to the check mark being next to "Application File Complete" or next to "In Progress"?

Well crap. I still have a red exclamation mark next to "In Progress". Complete late August.

It'll take you probably until close to late October before you'll get the green check mark.

Submitted 8/14 and still no green check mark :---------------)

Finally got my green check mark sometime in the last week. Went on a little vacation for a week and refused to check any apps or anything cause I hate the constant storm cloud that lingers with this admissions cycle 😵

1st reejjjjjjjecctionnnnn. Starting to sting when I pee now.

Sorry to hear that, although this did make me laugh. Do you mind sharing when the old green check mark showed up?

Does anyone know if Tulane has released ED decisions yet? Their website says October 1st but that's a Sunday...

Rejected today, small part of me was relieved as there is no part of me that wants to live in any part of New Orleans.

You wanted to avoid living in New Orleans so much that you paid money to submit a primary application to a school there, took the time and made the effort to fill out their respective secondary, and then paid even more money to submit said secondary to be considered for admission?

....wut?

This week I dug into the past 10 years of TUSOM secondary forums. October 1 falls on a weekend only twice (2011 and 2016) since 2007. Understand that SDN accounts for a fraction of applicants and a markedly smaller fraction of EDP applicants. Additionally, the reason a couple of us are asking this question is because of (us overthinking?) the admissions website saying the “EDP acceptance deadline is 10/1.” I will use two posts to make the case that EDP acceptances will be sent *on and thereafter* Monday, 10/2/17.

One instance records that 10/1/11 landed on a Saturday and an EDP applicant was given an acceptance the next Tuesday (10/4/11). Click the following link then scroll to 10/4 posts:

2011-2012 Tulane Application Thread

Another post records an EDP applicant that interviewed within the first 1-2 weeks of the interview season (9/15/14). They received their acceptance 10/2/14, and that year October 1 fell on a *Wednesday*. Link:

2014-2015 Tulane University Application Thread

Only a small portion of all Tulane applicants post on this forum and even fewer are EDP applicants. This gives us limited information along with the TUSOM website giving the 10/1 “deadline.” Given the above anecdotes and that no EDP applicant this year has yet to post an acceptance on this forum, Tulane will likely start sending EDP acceptances on and thereafter Monday, 10/2/17.

Probably a longshot since the schedule is so packed. Anyone know if Tulane does "In the Area" emails? I've had the green check since July 25th, so I am thinking (optimistically) I'm on some kind of hold list.

The admissions committee did their job well, it seems. From the introduction at the beginning of our interview day, it was clear that TUSOM is very much interested in selecting students that are interested in caring for some of the most deprived populations of this particular city and committed to reducing its disparities.
