i think primary review is to determine if someone gets an II, and holistic review is after interviewing to determine if you get an offer. that is really just a guess, though

It's a good thought, but since I'm in holistic review and definitely haven't received an II, that's probably not it!

Is anyone's portal still showing LOR not received? AMCAS has mine a few days ago..

Just got a letter in the mail from them encouraging me to apply. I'm a URM, and I honestly didn't spend a millisecond even considering this school because my GPA and MCAT are lightyears out of their average range 🤔 does anyone know how serious I should take those letters, or do they kinda send them out to all URMs? They offered to waive my secondary fee....but still. Kinda sounds like a scam lol

Just received this as well...school wasn't even on my list and I checked their stats and now I know why haha. Email was tempting but not going to push my luck/waste my time. Still an additional $ for the primary

Do we get any confirmation email after submitting the secondary? I believe it all went through but I am looking at the Feinberg Applicant Status page and the secondary box isn't checked.

I was verified on Thursday and haven't received a secondary...does it take a few days, or did everyone else get one right away? Should I email them on Monday?

It will take some days. I got it like 3 weeks after the first transmission day and I was verified day 1. Many got it sooner, some are waiting

Thanks! Glad it’s not just me. There are a couple secondaries I’m still waiting for from schools that send secondaries to everyone who submits so I was worried something was wrong

just make sure you check your spam, otherwise just be patient. I'm still waiting on about 3-4 schools who don't screen as well!

With a 81-82 LizzyM you shouldn't be surprised!! Wishing you the best of luck!
Haha true I guess but you can never be sure with the randomness of this process. Maybe I've read too much reddit/SDN and seen too many horror stories lol. Like I said, hopefully I see a lot of my fellow SDNers on interview day!

Wow was not expecting anything on this thread till august at least!

Congrats! Were you in "holistic review" before they extended the II?

Yes, I was in primary review for a few days (I think, not 100% sure) and then when I checked back at the end of last week, I was in holistic review. Not sure how long it took for each.

Did anyone else's MCAT come in late? I took mine last summer but checked the portal and it said they received them yesterday. I submitted the secondary on the 16th, I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Same thing happened to me! The date they received my MCAT kept getting pushed. I wasn't checking very often but I noticed that it at least changed from 7/16 to 7/23 even though I submitted the secondary before both those dates

Anyone else still in primary review after 2 weeks? Have I been bamboozled?

how long does it usually take to go from primary to holistic review?

If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats? I don't think it would be a waste of time if you're reasonably close.

Hello! Submitting secondary here very soon. Any current students who can take a look? Would be willing to look at others essays too! 🙂

MSTP people -

for the "Discuss a current unanswered question in biomedical research that you find particularly interesting and what research you would like to see done to address it" question, are you stating a question and then detailing a single experiment to address it, or proposing more of a big-picture way of investigating it?

I haven't written this one yet, but my approach was going to be closer to your latter option (big picture). Tbh, I think it doesn't actually matter as long as your answer conveys that (1) you are sufficiently well-read at this level and therefore have a sense of what questions are unanswered, (2) that you are creative enough to come up with a valid way to address said unanswered question, and (3) that you are at least vaguely aware of the current limits in science (i.e., is what you proposed even remotely physically plausible?). Just my $0.02!

I wrote a big picture solution

Does being in holistic review mean anything? Or is it just part of the process.
