2018-2019 Quinnipiac University (Netter)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Rising M2 at Netter, just adding myself to this thread. If anyone has any questions about the application process or Netter in general let me know and best of luck!

What is the MCAT range Netter looks for? I have a 503, 508 (but w/125 B/B 2nd time). Will this screen me out as OOS? Should I even apply with these low scores as OOS?

Netter is a private school, so I don't think IS/OOS matters very much, especially if you're from the NE region... Also, a 125 is not going to get you screened out anywhere. Most schools have 123/124 as sub-section screen, and with Netter being a newer school, I'm sure you still have a shot if the rest of your application is stellar!

Can someone recommend the best way to get from Bradley Springfield Airport to North Haven on a Sunday? 🙄

Hi all, longtime lurker here but I just wanted to comment on my interview experience here (interviewed yesterday)

All of the admissions staff and medical students were incredibly friendly to the interviewees. They were very enthusiastic about the Netter mission of producing primary care physicians as well as the direction that Netter is going, being such a new school.

There were 10 of us interviewing and we came from all across the country. They were all super chill/talented and I can definitely see why Netter chose to give them interviews. We had lunch with 4 M2s who were very friendly and excited to be here.

Like most schools, their interview style is super relaxed and conversational so if you interview here, don't stress at all!! They're honestly just trying to get to know you. SDN was a great resource to prepare.

Miscellaneous: I was told the 2023 class size is going to be roughly the same as last year's. They have had roughly 6500 applications so far so they're expecting much higher numbers this year compared to last year (not sure if that's accurate since I feel like most apps have been submitted by now.) They're starting up a new rural medicine program in Maine for ~5 students each year (this was new to me, I didn't see it on the website anywhere.)

One of the biggest things they emphasized is that you MUST own a vehicle + license since the clinical rotation sites can be quite far away. Also, since it is Connecticut, it would probably have to be an AWD vehicle.

If anyone has any specific questions, I'm happy to help!

Any interview invites for applicants complete on 7/20 or after?

Did they mention how the new AMCAS traffic rules would affect the number of acceptances vs waitlists given?

Sorry to hear that! Why would you say so though? Was it a tough interview?
It was a friendly interview, but I was so nervous that I stuttered at one of the ethical questions.

They expect people to be nervous. Obviously there is nothing you can do now but wait, but since it was such an early interview you are obviously favored by the school. You probably still have a good chance of getting in. Good luck!

Is it too late to apply here now? My primary will be verified in less than 2 weeks

To be honest, I have no idea what the new AMCAS traffic rules are but I don't recall them mentioning anything about # of acceptances vs waitlists. I was talking to one of the admissions staff about how they decide how many students to accept, given the unpredictability of each student's situation (multiple acceptances, deferral, etc) and he mentioned the number 300. Could have been a totally random number or the approximate number they actually accepted last year.

Thanks for the info, I'm interviewing here soon! Just asking because another school I was at stated that there would be pretty drastic changes in terms of acceptances given out initially and that most people would be waitlisted until spring.

If anything it seems that waitlists will grow bigger to incorporate the fact that schools can no longer predict who will stay/go. I also don’t think the number of acceptances handed out will change much.

Will have to double check but One of the things they supposedly changed was that on the April 15 day you can hold no more than 3 acceptances which is a new step this year.

Not to fear. I was complete around your time and just got an II today

For those of you who know the area, or had interviews already - what's the best way to get there for someone who's from out of state? It's either an 8-hour drive for me or a $300 flight, what would you guys recommend? Really looking for recommendations for hotels too- the recommended hotels on the school website are about $100/night (including shuttle service to the school), but I found some cheaper ones on booking.com that I have no idea how I would get to the school. How easy is it to get around with Uber/Taxi in that area?

Had interview here. I came in at Tweed airport and booked at Best Western, which is the closest to campus (5 min drive). The place I stayed at offers shuttle from and to the airport and the university for free. PM me if you want to know more

That’s great to know, thank you so much!

congrats!! I'm getting nervous now since I was complete end of July...

What dates are they offering?
they only offered me dates in October

and honestly dont stress too much this is just the beginning of the interview season, hopefully they'll give you an II

Does this school go in order in terms of offering interview invites? Seems like they skipped over me so is that likely a rejection?

consensus on whether this is a silent R school? I didnt see pre-II Rs on last year's thread...

I got frustrated with travel as someone who lives 15 hours away and declined my II. Best of luck to all of you interviewing! I hope you kill it!

IS reapplicant with them. Didn't get a secondary last year which I assume was because of a sub 3.0 GPA. Got one this year, after a postbac. Completed 8/15 with no II yet from them.
