2018-2019 Tulane University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Who told you you were hearing back today? Looks like they are backed up a little

I think my student interviewer or student ambassador mentioned the date! It’s all good though, I can’t imagine how difficult this process is for the admissions committees.

Has anyone else's status reverted back to "In Progress" after being under review? I was complete on 8/13 and under review 10/1... sensing a fat R coming my way.

mine says "in progress" as well, after going under review 10/22. i'm not sure that it's meaningful. i don't recall my portal ever specifically saying "under review" or anything else other than "in progress". but maybe i'm just unobservant.

R this morning, secondary submitted late August, complete 10/15.

R this morning. Sigh I was hoping for this school. Good luck to everyone else.

Still waiting on decisions from 9/28 interview, anyone in the same position? I guess no news is good news but im not feeling the greatest about this result by the delays. Expect the worst, hope for the best!

I am as well, can’t PM you but I called admissions and they said each application gets assigned to different committees so some results will take longer. The lady on the phone said no new decisions will come out until end of this week at the earliest.

Interviewing here soon, are the interviews held in the morning or afternoon? I would also appreciate any general advice or tips about the interview day. Thanks in advance!

Interviews are held in the morning and generally end around 2:30/3:00 with the tour. During my interview day, we had a little greeting session first, then standardized patient interviews (significantly less scary than it sounds), then faculty interview, and then student interview over lunch. After that was the tour of the school, which we were told was optional. Just relax! I was super nervous the morning of my interview but quickly calmed down 30 minutes into the greeting session. Everyone was extremely friendly and kind. They emphasized that there are no trick questions and it’s really about seeing what kind of person you are and whether you would fit in the school/see yourself there. I actually quite enjoyed my interview day! 🙂 I wish you well with your interview!

Interviews are all closed file right?

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here but I have been following this great forum for awhile now.. I see that some of you have been recently put on hold after going under review during mid October.. I have been under review since 10/1 and was wondering whether it has been usually bad news (the fat R) if it took this long to move from the "under review" status. Thanks!

Nope, there are just a lot of applicants that apply to Tulane and the process takes a while. Don't give up!

Hi guys,

I am wondering if it would be worth checking in with admissions to see if they might be able to reschedule an interview sooner than January? Has anyone tried working with admissions on this?

Thanks!

I mean, you can always ask but is there a specific reason you need to jump the queue?

So if my portal still says "in progress" that's different than "under review" right? I was complete 8/22 so just wondering since some ppl were complete after me and are already "under review"

It's different. "In progress" means your app is still waiting for a reviewer. I think review time depends on who reviews your app. Some people might have a much faster turn around time than others.

Can any current students talk about

  • lecture attendance: is it mandatory?
  • Are there mandatory small-group learning requirements?
  • What are the community service requirements?
  • Are there intramural sports? what do med students do for fun together besides drink/party?
  • How competitive is the teaching kitchen elective?

I also didn't send in CASPer. Do you think that hurt me?

Nope. In thinking about applicants post-interview, I can remember a lot of their application. I can't remember if they even took casper.
