2018-2019 University of Washington

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got a call today, around 1:30! Wow! Top choice, of course! : D Good luck to everyone else out there impatiently waiting!
Congratulations! Sorry to be that person, but I assume you are Idaho cohort?

havent heard anything. Previous people wrote we may have to wait til next week.

If tradition holds true, Idaho calls for acceptances will have gone out today. Small possibility or tomorrow.

Waitlist and rejection emails should go out on Monday.

Not gonna hold my breath then. Is there a lot of movement if one ends up being waitlisted?

Found this on the uwmedicine website. "Spokane, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho final decisions are made on the day after interviews are completed for that region or state."

Sounds like there might be some exceptions but this seems to be the trend.

3rd and 4th year tuition are much higher than 1st and 2nd year, anyone knows why?

What was the most recent email you had received prior? I got confirmation that I've completed all my prereqs but no confirmation that background check has been received yet.

They said they were processing my background check a few weeks ago and sent me a compliance checklist. After that, I got the second look email, then a tuition waiver email, then the NetID email.

The last two years you do your clerkships which are year round (4 quarters)
The first two years it’s all classroom work and 3 quarters.
Thanks for the info. It caught my attention because other medical school post same tuition rate for each year

UW finally updated their website, it doesn't look like something from the early 2000's anymore!

More importantly, it looks like the final EXCOM meeting for WA/OOR peeps could be early next week, based on the site and last year's data. So we could hear back as early as next Wednesday (3/13)! Also, they have some good info up regarding the "Choose Your Medical School" tool. Specifically, what UW requires applicants do and when they have to do it.

I am curious how/if this will change how the waitlist moves...

Any news from Idaho cohort?

Still nothing. Given that it’s already past “working hours” it makes me think they’re still deliberating and making decisions. Otherwise why would it take this long to send a prewritten rejection/waitlist email?

Waitlisted. In the top 10. Anyone know if this is good or bad? Honestly shocked after that interview performance but Dont really have high hopes

Congrats!! Do you mind talking a bit more about this? Do you apply for it or you just receive it from the financial aid office? Thanks and congrats again!!

After getting accepted I simply received the email about a month later. No further action was required

It's on the Acceptance Statistics page, towards the end:
Acceptance Statistics | UW Medicine

Wow. Those are great. I'm shocked by the OOR stats though. I thought it was fairly well knows that the WWAMI setup strongly prefers in-state applicants. Yet nearly 8K applied last year with only 55 being accepted. I'm also curious what changed between 2015/2016. The number of OOR applicants nearly doubles yet acceptance barely moves. I had no idea that just under 10K folks apply every year.

My email came approximately 4 weeks later as well.
For those that were accepted more than 4 weeks ago, but have not yet received their NetID email, I spoke to student affairs, and it could be because you have not officially been assigned to Seattle or Spokane yet. The final assignments should be done in the next week or so, and you should receive the email then. I assume that also means that all final acceptance/waitlist decisions should be coming out in the same time frame.

So if we have a net ID then that means they’ve assigned us to a campus? Because I haven’t received that decision yet

That's what she made it seem like, but maybe not if you haven't actually been notified. Did you select that you would prefer Seattle, but willing to go to Spokane?

I would guess that no one has been identified officially because acceptance/waitlist decisions are not complete yet. If someone is accepted, they too get to write an essay for their site, right? Don't they need to compare the essays/circumstances before making final decisions?

I actually was confirmed to Spokane already. I was never required to write an extra essay about which site I wanted to attend.

My guess is that they've already started sorting people on their end. Hopefully we all find out soon one way or the other! Moving my family across the state will require some planning!

No doubt. Some folks have a very compelling reason to be at a certain site. For others, they may not be quite sure yet. We'll see shortly!

Yep, selected prefer Seattle, but willing to go to Spokane. Wrote a paragraph for why I want Seattle. Hopefully it’s compelling enough
