for anyone who interviewed already, did admissions say anything about how frequently they revisit the "under consideration" pile throughout the application cycle? is it monthly or does movement not typically occur until later in the spring?

When I interviewed, I don't think they mentioned it. I just heard that most people do go under consideration and only a select few get the acceptance right off the bat.

Have there been any pre-interview rejections here? I have been complete here since the end of August and have not heard anything since.

Under consideration, interviewed 10/16. They made that decision in a week. That can’t be good can it...devastated.

what does under consideration mean? is that their version of the waitlist?
It kind of is, but not in the sense that you won’t hear back until the spring. Very few people get accepted at Albany immediately; the vast, vast majority of interviewees are placed Under Consideration. As the cycle wears on, the “threshold” for acceptance will continually decrease, at which point Albany will pull people above that threshold off Under Consideration and offer them an acceptance.

What do you think coming to a decision so quickly could mean?

Nothing? You're reading way too much into it. If they wanted to reject you outright, they would have. Again, the vast majority of interviewees are placed on Under Consideration status. There's no point in wasting time/energy into trying to parse out where on that list you are.

agree with this. it could be as simple as all of your mmi interviewers got their evaluations of you in early and for everyone else, they're still waiting for a few people to weigh in. i wouldn't think too much about it. you've dodged the post-interview rejection. just hang tight.

^ Yup! Just got one too this morning

For those of us under "Under Consideration," does Albany continuously pull us off throughout the cycle if our "rank" falls above the ever-lowering "acceptance threshold?" Or do Admissions only start pulling people off after April, AKA a traditional waitlist? The status email is worded a little weird...

How long was it between when you had your interview and when you got your "Under Consideration" email? Also, when did you interview?

Continuously pulling applicants off throughout the whole year based on threshold (not a traditional waitlist). This info came straight from the adcom director at my interview! She also said that it will be a bit slow moving at first (hardly anyone will fall above the threshold, for yield protection purposes). The med student giving me the tour said most of her class came from UC and that it picks up in Jan/Feb. Hope this helps! Hang in there!

Thank you so much! It’s just been a while since my interview, and I got confused at the wording of the email haha. 🙂
