2019-2020 Albany

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Now that the form for alternate list is closed we should be expecting Acceptances by 5pm today. The latest 7pm. Have patience everyone!

While I hope this prediction holds true, reviewing prior years' threads seem to suggest Albany likes to hand out their acceptances pretty conservatively. The first few acceptances (from those who posted back on SDN) seem to range from a few days to a week.

Like several days to weeks after the AL closed?

Also if I remember correctly, they said on the interview day that they normally let in 10-20 students off the alternate list. It’s not like we should be expecting a massive wave of acceptances (as much as I would love for that to happen).

Uh...in last years thread people got an email to confirm that they were added to the alternate list? Should I be concerned? I never got an email and now my portal just says “Sorry the alternate list is now closed” when I click “Alternate list”.

mine says the same but Albany did respond to my email and confirm they received my “yes” response. so you should be all set!

This year seems a bit different. Considering they were radio silent for a few months. Usually there is more UC movement before Alt List.

True. This is 110% wishful thinking but maybe the delay is because they are way under-enrolled after traffic day and now they are scrambling trying to decide what to do. Not a great situation for the admissions team to be in...but good for us on the AL. Of course I have 0 evidence and it is just anxiety fueling this "hypothesis."

i absolute pray this is the case... but the 174 members in the facebook group makes me nervous too. so many mixed signals from albany right now so zero clue what’s going on this is not usual compared to past years

I mean they normally admit like 3 times their spots so I wouldn’t read too much into the Facebook page. Half of those people could have committed elsewhere on May 1 and just never left the Albany group.

Trying to gauge the number of available spots using the Facebook group is a bad idea because some of those people already turned in their acceptances, or are upperclassmen joining the group, etc.

I'm dead inside lol
Same. Another school I am on hold for just emailed us and said that they didn't actually finalize the waitlist last Friday like they told us they would. So, they will meet tomorrow and then send acceptance/waitlist decisions out by postal mail in 11 days. So...the situation at Albany could be worse I guess? I feel like I am being trolled from all sides lol

Out of curiosity, does anyone have luck with Albany matching tuition, lets say to a public state school

Like a Price Match Guarantee from Best Buy or am I misunderstanding?

LMFAO yes.

Like if you get accepted to your in-state public school whos tuition is 15k less than Albany’s. Can Albany match that.

I know alot of med schools do tuition match

Edit: they can probably match scholarships only. Not sure about just tuition

Probably best to reach out to their admissions and ask.

what med school has been sending A's out by snail mail?? seems silly not to send it by email. Now I'm paranoid that I missed something in my mailbox lol

University of Tennessee, one of my state schools. It is what it is at this point lol. I’ll take an acceptance whether it is email, postal mail, or carrier pigeon.
