we were told december at our ii day. is that still the consensus?
We were told likely December 20
I think that's the goal, but I read earlier in this thread (I think) that it can get delayed to early Jan. Also at my interview they said some students would be put on hold and decided on with the next wave. Not sure if the hold is used liberally or just a few people

Does the interview end at 2 or 3 pm? Sorry if someone has already asked this!

would it be possible to leave slightly early? Is there just a wrap up session towards the end?

This link should help! The wrap up session includes financial aid and a diversity session, which are important, but not as important as the interview per se. They’ll definitely understand if you have to leave early for travel related matters, but let the admissions people know in advance.

If we interviewed in September/October there is a high likelihood that a decision regarding our candidacy has already been made, right? We are just waiting to get that decision?

Yes, a decision has likely already been made. Don’t hold you breath on getting an acceptance/ rejection this month though. BU will put all but the top applicants on a deferred list. Even if you’re a good applicant you’re most likely in for a long wait to hear a real decision.

Dang...

what's the source on that intel?

II for an oos complete labor day orm. Dates available throughout December and January so lots of invites still to go out

Here’s the deal, the associate dean made it clear to us in yesterday’s interview that decisions for people who interviewed earlier in the cycle had been made in November if I remember correctly. She mentioned that the decisions will be coming out this coming week so be ready y’all! On a side note, she’s such a sweet and a funny lady!

The dean is wonderful, shes one of those people who makes you feel like you've know her your whole life after 2 minutes. She should be doing Ted Talks or something. (lol watch her give me a big, beautiful R this week)

Also, do you know if you get a decision no matter what? Like if you are deferred will they email you and be like sorry bud you're stuck in limbo try to enjoy the holidays sucka or will you just get silence and have to watch as the SDN thread blows up with As?

btw, they also said the review was in mid November for my interview as well.

This week or next week? I need time in advance to mentally prepare for bad news

Vast majority of people will be deferred and everyone who interviewed before November will be emailed regardless of an acceptance/ rejection/ deferment. There will not be many acceptances or rejections.
This is how it has historically been done. Emails will go out before the Holidays around the 20th.

Lol you guys should be good! And from my understanding it’s next week. As for the deferred category, she did not specifically mention that! However, she did go in depth into the process and she said that the admission committee comes together and divides up into groups. Then, each group handles around 45 applicants + their interviewers’ reports and makes decisions. Then, the decisions are released (the following month in this case). She said they don’t take the “best applicants” first and leave others for later, rather they consider everyone equally.

Me, watching the acceptances blow right past me

M1 here--to hopefully curb some anxiety, let me add that I was accepted last year (in March) with an e-mail and a portal update, and never received a call from my interviewer. From my understanding, they give interviewers a day or two to reach out and then send out the e-mail/portal update to everyone.

Congrats to those accepted! If you have any questions about BUSM, feel free to reach out to me 🙂

Did everyone else with an A have an interviewer that roasted them on research too
