Sounds like there's a group interview here with a current medical student. How do the group interviews here work? Do they typically ask a question and have everyone answer it one by one?
It's like the typical lunch/tour with a student, but they take notes, ask specific questions. It was kind of exhausting, because you had to be really engaged with them. It also pretty much eliminates your ability to ask hard/unpleasant questions. This interview was probably my most exhausting, because they took notes throughout the lunch and the tour. At least with an MMI you get breaks.

My Med student took 0 notes and asked us 0 questions beyond like where are you guys from.

Ha, my student was super nice, but how'd I get so unlucky? We had like soul-searching questions. My interviewer was a total hard ass too. They wouldn't even let me finish answering a question, before they'd ask another. They frequently would disagree with me, but never let me defend my answer. It was like sitting down with Billy Eichner. I felt so bullied, I asked them a question about the dreaded H closer (do not do this, FYI) just to reassert myself. In contrast, some of my co-applicants were gushing over how sweet their interviewer was. It just wasn't my day.

If this interviewer was like this from the get-go, it’s probably just their style and not you or something you said. Some interviewers like to see how people hold up under stress, and even if they didnt show it you may have really impressed them so I’d try not to worry too much!

Thanks for the encouragement! I think I actually did fine. Just don't be surprised if you interview there, and it's not all relaxed and easy.

Wow. I never pulled this stuff while interviewing. I also answer as much as I can about the HUH situation.

Interviewed here today. Despite low expectations, I actually had a really good experience. They were super up-front about Hahnemann closing and the possible repercussions on students (it was addressed in both info sessions, the student-tour, and my actual interview). Honestly, at least from a student perspective, it seems like it really isn't a big deal. My interviewer said it was a big deal for faculty and residents but definitely not for the med students (except for maybe the 3rd years who were assigned a rotation there while the closure was happening), and I really don't think he was trying to butter me up or anything. Otherwise, he was actually happy to break ties with a for-profit hospital (which was going to happen in 2022 anyways since they were planning on discontinuing their partnership that year - it was basically just moved up). They've partnered with some newer and nicer hospitals since then (Tower and St. Christopher's) that actually sound a lot better. HUH wasn't even where most people did rotations and certainly not the most-desired spot. My student tour guide said most of the students want to go to the California sites anyways. Sounds like it isn't affecting student research opportunities either. He said prettymuch anyone can get research if they want it. Overall, I honestly consider it a non-issue for students and actually a big plus in the long run since they formed these new bonds with better hospitals.

Edit: Other than HUH, my tour guide was a chill dude, interviewer was a sweet old guy, and the curriculum actually sounds cool. I've never heard a student say the curriculum was something that they liked, yet that was actually brought up by multiple students. Other than that, the facilities were kinda old but that was really the only negative IMO (although they do have a pretty sweet student gym and tons of study space so maybe it's not even that big of a negative).

The student was really great with the H stuff. The interviewer, not so much. It was obvious how painful the whole thing was to them.

It is hard to talk about. So many people lost their jobs that work for Drexel.

Anyone know when they next give out decisions? I interviewed in late November and I thought my decision would come out by now

Nope😵 anxiety running pretty high
Hey it’s better than other people hearing back and not us. 🙂 I’m about to get on a flight so I really really wish they’d get back to us before that. Has there been a case where they split decisions over Fri/Mon?

hello fellow applicants! Is it too late to get an invite yet? Does anyone possibly know when the last interview date is? Has anyone sent an update after getting a hold and actually got an invite, or get rejected, from it? Do they respond well to updates? Can you tell that I got a hold and am debating whether to update or if its a waste of my time? lmao Congrats to everyone who got accepted! Good luck and hang in there!!

When did you receive confirmation of your update? I uploaded an update a few weeks ago through the portal and haven't received any confirmation.
I uploaded it on the portal and emailed admissions letting them know that I recently submitted something on the portal and they responded within 2-3 days stating that they received it.
