EDIT: To add to previous posters, they told my interview group that decisions would start coming at the middle of January. Given previous history, I think it’s pretty likely that we get news next Friday. Just my two cents l, though!

i was told by my interviewer that those arent really relevant unless you're WL'd, but i sent one anyway

(as in a school we send a letter of interest to mistakes it for a letter of intent and alerts other schools?) idk i might be super paranoid here lol. Thank you!!

correct, although I don't know if it's considered "right" to send a letter of interest to every school that interviewed you (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Like I think you're letters of interest are supposed to go to a few of your absolute favorites. That way it means something. If everyone were to send letters of interests to all schools, then they'd begin to lose meaning and we'd all just be doing extra work.

According to the adcoms on SDN, that is exactly what happened and letters have already lost their meaning.

From what I remember, the director said we would receive an initial decision in mid-late January for MSTP. Although someone has reported an acceptance, there will likely be more as well as WL notifications
