Just got that hot... hold? Waitlist?

“Though we are unable to offer you an acceptance at this time, please rest assured that you are still being considered by the Admissions Committee for a potential seat in the entering class.”

That is the pre-II hold. I am not sure why they're giving those out since they already said they will stop sending out invites by the end of the month. I also thought those were the people who haven't been reviewed yet.

I'm pretty sure this is post interview.

This isn't a hold - you're still being considered according to the dean!

Interview coming up this week. Can anyone tell me about their experience (of course you don’t need to go into the specifics of MMI) with visiting the school and whether they opted to sit in on any of the optional morning rounds etc.

Yes, he said that ppl who receive that email are still in the running, and that one woman even received an acceptance call a week after she got it.
Thats nice to hear. How many post II rejections do they even hand out at this point though, Seems like its been majority "Hold" Post-II

Any recent interviewees want to provide an update from Dean Rivera during your interview? How many acceptances have they issued already?

I don't know what the optional morning rounds are (interviewed a couple of months ago, maybe they changed it), but the schedule was pretty accurate for the interview day. Basically, morning presentations + lunch with the students, then people get split into "tour then MMI" or "MMI then tour". You can change into walking shoes. Then some casual socializing with students at the end of the day. Feel free to message me if you have more specific questions!

Yes, that's my understanding of it. I didn't even know this was a thing. I thought it was a WL but it's not. THey're pretty much like "yeah we don't really know yet what we wanna do with you but we'll figure it out later so hang tight"

Yeah I'd like to echo bringing walking shoes in a small bag or something, they have a place you can keep your belongings during the interview. I wore my pointy heels for the tour, which turned out to be extensive. I don't even remember the last half of the tour because the pain in my feet was literally unbearable hahahaha. I couldn't walk normally for the next few days because of the blisters. I'm dead serious.

Anyone who had withdrawn from NYU this cycle: did you receive an email or some sort of notice on the portal when you pressed the withdraw button?

Sincerely,
Someone who is paranoid that they clicked it

Hard disagree. Look up resources, time yourself, and practice with another person. Read up on ethics. Don’t make the mistake of going in blind.
did you feel that your preperation with ethics and mmi scenariors helped on the real day? if so, how what resources would u rcomemmdne

Hard disagree with this hard disagree. If you went through the MMI that I went through (which I assume would be the same), you don’t need any prep beyond what you would do for a trad interview. There was no crazy ethics you were expected to know.

The person above said you don’t need to prepare at all. Just because there weren’t any extremely challenging ethical scenarios doesn’t mean brushing up on ethics prior is a bad idea. But even if you decide not to, you should still absolutely prepare. I haven’t gotten accepted to any MMI school yet, so I don’t know if my approach worked. However, I can imagine how stressful it would be to try MMI style questions for the first time on interview day, and that could make for a weaker performance.

I was accepted here and prepared for my MMI by practicing out loud with a friend, reviewing medical ethics concepts, and strategizing for different types of questions I expected to encounter. Regardless of how much it helped or not, I cannot understand why you would not practice for an important interview in a highly competitive process. It cannot hurt.

any other interview tips?

Are IIs still being sent out? Wondering if there are spots left. Would absolutely love to interview here, a dream come true haha

What do y'all think constitutes a good application update? I got a spiffy new job a month ago removing eyeballz from organ donors which I think is pretty cool but not sure if they really care to hear an update about something like that. Have any of you all sent app updates?
