Sorry, its so stressful, they may reconsider you, but may not get back to you soon.

I think they're pretty much done with IIs, I'm just waiting for that sweet sweet R for closure at this point lol
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but with all the waitlists and active considerations...and only 2 weeks left of interviews, if someone hasn't heard yet they probably won't get an interview.
At rush if you are waitlisted or Accepted you are invited. I would assume they grouped in active consideration too.Has anyone else who has not yet been accepted post-interview received a 2nd look invitation? I’m on Active Consideration but got a 2nd Look invitation by email which seems weird as I haven’t yet been accepted.
Save the date! Rush Medical College Second Look Day is scheduled for Friday, April 3, 2020. All accepted and waitlisted applicants are encouraged to attend, as this event is the perfect opportunity to interact with our current students, learn more about our integrated curriculum, and most importantly begin to meet and get to know your potential future classmates! During the day there will also be a designated session specifically for waitlisted applicants. More information as well as a formal invitation will be sent via email in February. At rush if you are waitlisted or Accepted you are invited. I would assume they grouped in active consideration too.
Why not? They invite people on the waitlist. On the waitlist but thinking about attending their second look day. Thoughts? Is this something y'all would suggest?
Its up to you, if you have other acceptances that you'd rather stick with, then no. If you are keen on Rush, and want to learn more about their program, then maybe something to think aboutOn the waitlist but thinking about attending their second look day. Thoughts? For the financial aid email they sent out, was that sent to all students or was that telling me specifically they hadn’t received my FAFSA and to sent it?
I called them today, it went to everyone. As of March 1, they begin compiling the aid packages and will reach out individually if they are missing anything.I got it as well so I think it was a mass email. I submitted FAFSA in October so we'll probably hear back in early March.
This is only for Accepted students right?I called them today, it went to everyone. As of March 1, they begin compiling the aid packages and will reach out individually if they are missing anything.
I would imagine but I do not know. I know they only extend scholarship stuff once people are accepted. The email states that once they have your fafsa and you have been accepted then they will begin preparing your eligibility for additional stuff. Also it can take up to a few weeks to process FAFSA and it takes Rush several days as well to receive it so I would do it now if you have interviewed as you can send it to multiple schools anyways. Here is the school code for FAFSA and make sure you go to FAFSA.gov to fill out the forms. 009800This is only for Accepted students right?
I think it is since they determine your need and can give you scholarships/grants based on that. Then they probably just tack on merit scholarships depending on, well, your merit. At least that what makes sense to me.Is Fafsa a requirement for institutional scholarships? I was under the impression that FAFSA was only for loans and Rush sent out scholarships based on what is on AMCAS/Secondary app??
You must accept Rush's offer in their portal in order to save your seat at the college. Accepting doesn't mean you are binded to go there. It just means you wish to hold your seat there in case you decide to attend there later. Schools don't let you sign a confirmation to matriculate there before atleast April 30th.Accepted yesterday (1/14)
Interviewed 1/29
This might be a dumb question but does anyone know what it means to “hold an acceptance?” Does that actually entail accepting their offer? I’m on the waitlist at my top choice so I’m waiting to hear from them but should I actually accept the offer at Rush through the portal? Or does that signify my confirmation to matriculate there? Any help is much appreciated!

So I probably am not going to end up going to rush. But this is what struck me on interview day in a few words.I love how enthusiastic everyone on here or I've ever talked to seems about this school!
Can anyone tell me why, besides the obvious stuff, so many people are so stoked about it?
Kinda curious since you probably know way more about the hospitals and whatnot than I do...So I probably am not going to end up going to rush. But this is what struck me on interview day in a few words.
1) The students and faculty are so kind, happy and excited to be there.
2) Rush and Stroger... holy **** two of the most amazing hospitals I have ever seen and you get to work at both of them!
3) You just stand on the roof on interview day looking out at the Chicago skyline and it is like Holy **** this is the coolest **** I have ever seen
4) If youre invited to interview you are passionate about caring for the underserved. To be at a school where it is so obvious that we are being taught medicine to make an impact on the most vulnerable in our communities is so special. I felt like I was at a school that just understood everything I was trying to achieve as a doctor.
Just to balance it out I would say I was ultimately unimpressed with the curriculum but thats just because I would benefit greatly from lecture vs/ no lecture PBL. I did PBL in college and that **** sucked for me. But its a personal learning thing. Not saying others wouldn't love it.
5) Did I mention those hospitals holy ****??? doctor boner

Do you know if all the local chicago med schools (like UIC, Rush, Loyola, RFU etc) get a chance to rotate at Stroger? I forgot if they mentioned that on interview day

They each have their own hospital systems so I would highly doubt it. For 4th year though it is relatively easy to get an away rotation where you want so I imagine that you will likely see them around. THats all I got, I tried looking at their websites and could not find an answer but if you look at where the SOMs are on a map they are not really all that close in terms of commute, especially at rush hourKinda curious since you probably know way more about the hospitals and whatnot than I do...

Yea I agree that’s why I was just curious how hard it would be to get an away there if I went to a nearby med school instead. Just conjecturing lol, thanks 🙂They each have their own hospital systems so I would highly doubt it. I think the big difference with Rush is that you will do rotations there. I do not believe that it is optional, though I do not know all of the details. I also would not know why you would not want to do rotations there. They have a great reputation.
Not hard to get an away. But standard clerkships hard if not impossiblYea I agree that’s why I was just curious how hard it would be to get an away there if I went to a nearby med school instead. Just conjecturing lol, thanks 🙂

Loyola does some primary care rotations there but for the speciality ones yaIf I remember from my interview day, non-Rush students can do away rotations at it but they have to apply for it. Rush students have the benefit of just training/rotating there without any further steps.
I believe they have already sent out their last IIs since their last interview day is end of this month. Our only hope is people declining their IIs.Have any ii's gone out this week?
What’re advocacy phone calls?Does anyone know if Rush is receptive to Advocacy phone calls?
What’re advocacy phone calls?
The reality is these advocacy phone calls don’t do much unless there’s an advocacy donation that goes with them 😉I assume a LOR writer or physician mentor calling the Admissions Director/Committee to advocate on behalf of the applicant for their admission.

I would agree in most cases, but I do recall listening to a podcast (I think it was with the Dean of Admissions at Loyola), where she said that occasionally she gets calls from alumni/big-names that causes the admissions committee to take a second look and occasionally invite applicants they might otherwise have relegated to the "silence" pile.
I honestly think this kind of stuff happens far more often than we think. Just anecdotally, I know at one well known West Coast school, the Dean of Admissions stopped by one of the med classes after they had finished for the day and asked "hey, do you guys know anyone applying here this cycle?" An acquaintance of mine got invited this way (an ORM, and his/her stats were below their 10th %iles, although his/her EC's were great). And I've heard similar stories along the interview trail this year. It certainly helps to be well-connected in medicine.
MOst schools don't reject until after the last interview day, just incase someone cancels or something.so if they gave out their last IIs, what about ppl who are still "under review"? (unless im the only one)
you call the switch board and ask specifically, generally I have had to leave a message and they call back (im an accepted students who had to fill out paperwork). That's how I have had to do it. Also there is still a chance of a last minute interview. Also plan to enroll opened up today so there may be people making decisions and evaluating life options. Best of luckis there a phone number i can call for their office of admissions? i cant seem to find it
