2019-2020 Seton Hall

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'd honestly ask them because I feel like they're looking for something clinically based
How do we know if they accept it or not though (before we call), will they just not send a secondary if they don't? Mine is from a PhD psychologist who worked as a social worker.

Got an email today from them saying they have not released their secondary yet.
The only other school I know who has not released their secondary is Howard Uni.
Does anyone know of any other medical school?

CUSM just released theirs today.

Did you ask or did they just send you a courtesy email

Are you applying to any DO schools? I see we are both applying to similar MD schools.
Nope. Money was a huge factor in creating and limiting my school list, and it worked out that I could apply for a couple DO schools or a larger number of MD schools for the same grand total so I went for a straight MD but bottom-heavy list with only a couple reaches. I also have what I believe are very legitimate reasons for wanting to pursue an MD over a DO which involve my personal career goals beyond the "MD good DO bad hurr durr" nonsense. I think DOs are a very very important part of our healthcare system moving forward and have nothing but respect for the degree.

at this point, I'm hoping they leave the secondary questions the same as last year but also where the heck is our secondary?!

As someone who is still working to finish ~8 more apps before labor day, I may be the only one who likes the delay in receiving this one lol. One of the few I could submit "early". 😆

Real talk, I got 13 more to do (5 complete) 🙁
Seton and TCU are the only one I'ma be on early for b/c of how far I feel like I'm behind compared to everyone

Lol I feel this for sure. 90% of what I’ve seen has said to take the time you need to perfect your secondaries if needed as opposed to rushing to submit them. They say that submitting them by Labor Day will make no difference so that’s my goal. Applying to 35 schools makes it pretty rough especially when I didn’t prewrite lol

is TCU the new MD school in collaboration with UNTHSC? And did they not send their secondaries yet? I might apply if they havent because then Ill be considered early lol
Im also a Texas resident so idk if that helps for TCU

I'm not going to, but I didn't pre-write any of them, there's not a ton of value to be gained from submitting the first day and it's not worth the chance that a question has changed
I did and have secondaries written from like 40 other schools so hopefully there is some overlap whenever they send the secondary out haha

If it helps, this was the last school I submitted my secondary to. They also had a lot of major issues going on with the secondary portal not working last year though. I just reused my essays from other schools I applied to and made it somewhat coherent lol. Don’t sweat it too much

II!!!

did i get anyone lol? I appreciated the time to catch up on other secondaries but now I'm all caught up and just want to be done writing them lol. Anyone have any idea when they're going to be sent out?
You caught me with blinding rage that someone got an II before I even got the secondary. Dang do I need a nap...

Lowkey, wouldn’t it be nice if they base II from our primaries? I dont want to write another damn secondary lolol
I usually feel like I make a better case for myself in secondaries, but it’s been over a month since I submitted my last secondary. I’m waaaay out of the essay writing zone.

@medschoolzombie

Do you know more about their 3-year medical school track?
I think the 4th year is an optional research year or you can be admitted into one of Hackensack Meridians medical residency programs

The entire med school curriculum is in 3 years. You’re preclinical/clinical etc are all gonna be done in 3 years regardless of what you decide to do. After the 3 years, you have the option of either applying for/going into the Hackensack meridian residencies or doing normal match (4 yr). If you decide to not do the early entry into residency then you have to take a fourth year. The fourth year can be a research year, getting an mph or some other options. Right now most of the positions availabile in the 3 year track are in primary care and IM. There are a few other specialities available and they are working on getting more of the surgical sub specialties residences up and going too

I think you also have the option to do a master’s degree, a longer global health rotation, or just do a bunch of electives and apply to outside residencies
