2019-2020 Temple

For anybody that has interviewed, how was the writing activity? I know there is an NDA, but I was just looking to get a general vibe of what it was like.
I thought it was relatively stress free. It’s nothing like Casper. Topic was open ended (not requiring any background knowledge) so nothing to worry about!

They ask general questions like “tell me about a time you failed” or “what role do you think social factors play in medicine” just looking for introspection and thoughtful responses! Very little time, not meant to be long

Hey, for anyone who has interviewed here already, does the day actually end at 3:30 PM, or earlier? Not sure if I should take the gamble and purchase a 3:15 PM train ticket vs. 6:50 PM........(interview tomorrow, send help please - rip)
I would purchase the 6:50. My first interview was at 2 p.m. and my second was at 3 p.m. My interviewer was running a bit late so I wound up interviewing until after 4:00. Better safe than sorry.

Any advice on hotels to stay at nearby or public transportation?
There are plenty of hotels in center city, and there is also a hotel directly on Temple's main campus called the Conwell Inn. As for public transit, it's super easy. Just get on the Broad Street subway line going north and get off at erie or allegheny station.

II early this morning! Although the only date that I see available is next week and I am OOS lol does anyone know if they refresh interview dates on their portal?

II at 12:03am Pacific time - CA. Lizzy M~65. URM. Complete date 8/31/19. 1 date in October available and about 3 dates in November.
Weird. I got my ii at 3 am CST and there were only October dates available.

I know for this school the post II acceptance rate is around 50%, but does anyone know if that remains constant throughout the cycle? Or like does the first batch of interviews have a 70% acceptance rate, second one with 50%, and last one with 30% (or something like that). I know interviewing early puts you at an advantage but I wonder how much?

I think we can only speculate... and no one (except maybe the adcom) knows for certain

Have any MD-PhD applicants heard back (II, hold, or R) yet?

anyone know if this school is receptive to updates? also, do they continue to send out IIs after december, considering they announce all decisions then? starting to get discouraged with the silence....
The release the first wave of decisions December, second February, and last April so they def send interviews after December! They interview through March.

Recently interviewed... Lots of down time between interviews.
1 open file, 1 close file. No specific order. Low stress and very conversational, especially the closed file one.

my open file didn’t ask specific stuff about my app at all,
Unlike what someone else has posted.!

writing activity is extremely low stress. It’s nothing tricky- literally just asked to be genuine and thoughtful.

not much student interaction until the tour and after.

Does anyone know what the Philadelphia airport is like? Specifically traffic to airport and wait time in security? (I just got TSA precheck) The email says the day ends by 3:30pm and my flight is booked for 6:15pm. I also have to return my rental car at the airport. Is this doable?

I know a lot of people ended later than 3:30 based on when their interviews were scheduled. I think my flight boarded at 6 and I made it there and through security with like 50 minutes

okay. So I should probably talk to the admissions staff when I get there and be like I have my flight at 6:15pm
