2019-2020 UC Davis

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Pre-II R, complete 7/7.

Only schools left are Riverside, CalMed, and Western.

edit: Luckily all three are in SoCal 🙂 Best of luck everyone else!

Post secondary pre II R. Secondary complete in early-mid July. IS, not soo far from the davis area, LM 75. Kinda bummed about this one. I got the secondary really early too.

Pre II R. Received the secondary late, complete late October. SoCal resident, weak ties to NorCal. Best of luck to everyone else!

Pre-II R completed early July and IS

Reading these replies is intensifying my imposter syndrome even more lol

All of you guys are such accomplished applicants and will make great matriculants somewhere I'm sure!

R pre-II also. I am not gonna lie. Sour grape to protect my ego kicking in hard today. Good bye to the 220 average/85% pass Step 1 school. Regardless, i would have love to attend this school, but I don't think they like many SoCal applicants.

100% feel you on this one.

Good luck everyone! You’re all unique, and will be a great doctor someday, regardless of where you end up going!

Jumping on the pre-II R train! Complete 7/2 IS NorCal resident with emphasis on urban underserved too! Guess I'm just meant to stay in SoCal...

Maybe more OOS acceptances for more income
They really pride themselves in being >95% in-state and their regional bias. If they sway away from that, there will definitely be something new and big. Though they have been going through administrative changes.

Were all/any of you pre-II R's on the interview waitlist already or just silence since submitting the secondary?

I was complete 7/30, IS with heavy ties, applied TEACH-MS.....silence. No 'interview waitlist'. Vaguely nauseated.

Not that it matters, but pre-secondary R for the MD/PhD. They’ve been sitting on it for almost half a year 😀. At least it’s the only school to have rejected me pre-secondary 🙂

LM~75

On their website, they say UC Davis does not attempt to match scholarship/grant offers from other institutions. Does anybody know if they take that rule serious?

Since they already mentioned it on their website it seems like they do take it seriously. But you can always give them a call and double check

No, I meant I haven't been put on one, but I also haven't heard of one from anyone else I know who applied here.
Same :-/ It's been a struggle. Really hoping to hear back from them, but losing out hope fast.

Secondary submitted in July. Strong ties with UCD. Seems like a lot of II and rejections have been sent out. Still experiencing radio silence. I can’t tell if that’s good or bad... any advice?
At this point in the cycle, silence is bad. There may still be a few IIs left, but the pool of applicants who still haven't heard is quite large.

They only interview 500 people. And from the portal, they only have interviews up until March (probably means at the end of March). From my interview, it looked like 24 students interview a day and it's split into two sessions.

How was your interview day experience?

It was short. You came in and they did a very short introduction then had lunch with current students. Soon after it was MMI for 2 hours or so. They dismissed you and you moved it along with your weekend. LOL

They said that they will be inviting accepted students to tour the campus sometime in April. I believe they kept it short because they know other schools be dragging their heels all day long. I don't blame them. To much nervous to be focusing on other details.

They do have one. I got an email saying I was placed on it in early December. Silence since then.

Does anyone have recommendations for hotels nearby that allow 24 hour cancellations since I am waiting to hear back from the student host program?

Is UC Davis done interviewing? I've yet to hear back about anything since submitting my secondary in late July.

I feel your pain... I just got rejected by my alma mater UC and now waiting on just Davis and UCR. My friend who applied last cycle didn't get an R until after this cycle began...

Wow. So you're saying your friend got his R in June 2019?!
